Where can I start?!
Where can I start?! After much thought and consideration, I have decided to reach out about my experience with It’s just lunch. When the matchmaker reached out to me earlier in April, one of the things she mentioned, that made me take the leap into this adventure, was that spring-summer was the right time, that love is in the air and that she had a long list of men that could fit what I am looking for. I put my faith in her expertise, I felt she listened and asked the right questions during the intake interview. I was very excited when I was told about my first date. I went to the date with my heart and mind open. It was quite disappointing, since he did not match at all what I am looking for physically or emotionally. He was not what I described as what I was attracted too and our lifestyle and political views were very different, in some aspects opposite and where no compromise could be made. He was a nice person, but I would not have picked him out of an online dating profile. I was a bit baffled and I did reach out to IJL and expressed these thoughts. Concerned at this point that what we had discussed in our intake was not what was showing up in the person matched with me. I was still open and thought things just needed some fine tunning. The second date matched physically and felt promising in the general connection. The hiccup was that he is still married, living under the same roof with his wife. On our 1st date all the circumstances were a little fuzzy, and I thought I understood his divorce was in the works. I saw him 2 more times and came to realize that the divorce had not been initiated. I have been through a divorce and it is no small feat, even if this is what you want. It is emotionally trying and a person in that situation shouldn’t even be in a matchmaking program. At the same time, I could feel the disconnect with him and told him I was not going to pursue this relationship, his response was that he was overwhelmed with all the women he was being set up and was rusty in dating. At one of the dates he specifically told me that IJL, knew about his living situation and told him that it was good that he had a second home at a lake, and that he should not share this information on dates. IJL denied any knowledge of his situation, I do not believe them. Anyway, in synthesis, why would I be set up with a guy that is still married and living under the same roof with his wife? This does not sound right from any angle you view it. On we go to date number 3, this was traumatic and completely crazy! I felt embarrassed for his behavior. Since IJL personnel kept telling me I missed “the one” because I did not want to meet someone that lived about 100 miles, I accepted this one date in San Jose. Having to meet him on a work day and having to deal with commute traffic, it took me an hour to make it to meet him. I am and have been open in this dating process and I try not to be hung up on appearances and not judge a book by its covers. With that said, the first impression was not good. The first verbal exchanges were not good either, but I was still open to give it a fair chance. He was pushy and impatient and then got agitated with some preteen kids that were playing with a skateboard. He yelled at them, after asking me if he should say something. At this point, it felt like such an incredible mismatch, so I told him we should not order dinner, that I wanted to leave. I was polite and stayed until he finished his drink, offered to pay for mine and just walk away. By the way, I have never walked away from a date, but this was beyond uncomfortable. The kids were still around, again they were between 10 and 13 at the most, just kids being kids, and he was clearly agitated. I decided to start walking to my car, the whole restaurant was looking at us, and I wanted to leave as soon as I could. As I am walking to my car, he started yelling profanities at the top of his lungs to the kids. Embarrassing is the least. This was traumatic, uncomfortable, unbelievable. So, at this point, my experience with IJL has not been good, I’d say it was been negative, uncomfortable and I am paying for this! I am extremely disappointed, put myself our there and was traumatized by these matches. I asked for a refund, and all I got was apologies, but not from the matchmaker, she offered a conversation at the end, and honestly I refused. I believe she should’ve been the first person to contact me and try to make things right. I have friends that were waiting to see how my experience turned out, so they would then join IJL, but they could not believe my experience. The worst part is that this is not cheap! I can do better with dating apps and save a lot of money, but I put my faith in their “so called” expertise and was defrauded, disappointed and baffled that they could get away with this. I was fooled, and I learned my lesson. This was an awful experience.
