Set yourself up to be scammed
Basically this is a means of students scamming their way into inexpensive travel and housing in the us. Despite suggesting that their program is here to set students up with jobs in reality you get a placement who has little to no interest in doing the job they signed up for, and after the training period they all come back and say that they want to transfer to a new job. The videos they present are scripted and the actual students know little to no english. You have to coordinate housing, take them to get social security numbers, food, etc. You spend hundreds of dollars per student as well as hours of time. Out of 7 interexchange hires 2 refused to work, and five went through training only to quit once the actual work commenced. This is extremely damaging to businesses. And it is a total racket. The two students that refused to work actually applied to multiple other jobs and accepted other jobs where they took pay to train, got uniforms and materials, and then did not show up to the actual work, while living in our student housing and claiming to be jobless not paying their paltry housing fee. A bunch of scam artist freeloaders enabled by this sham company. Update 2024 I can 100% confirm that this is a scam for the employer. Again gave inter exchange a chance. Out of 10 hires 80% would only pretend to work and frequently put us in a dire position for our business. Essentially you are being used for cheap housing. If they find a sugar daddy they abandon the job. Or once the training period is over and they have to work independently they quit, get a new job, train there for two weeks, quit, get a new job, until they’ve gotten through the summer. Out of 15+ hires only 6 stayed the time for which they committed. Honestly this program made my life hell. I’m praying that economic changes will end our labor shortage.

We are sorry to hear you feel this way, particularly when so many of our host employers have the opposite experience when hiring international students. We assure you that our program is not a scam, we are designated by the Department of State to operate this program and we have thousands of positive and successful SWT participants visit the U.S. each year and the majority of our hosts have worked with us for many years. Again, sorry to hear of your negative experience. We hope we get the opportunity to prove to you that International Exchange can be a positive experience that benefits you and your business. All the best!
