My payments were misplaced by your agents as a result my monthly insurance rate increased from $255 to $376 a month which is higher than my previous company which was $290 and that was the reason why I switched to Horace Mann in the first place.

I accidently had two payments come out of my account, and the individual refused to return one. The system is not set up like most systems, where if you make a payment the auto payment does not run. This caused me issues.

I was given a quote for homeowners and automotive insurance. The agent worked with me between 1-2 hours gathering ALL my information and after given a quote for homeowners, I paid the full amount of quote immediately and less than 30 days the quote was raised almost 400 after I had paid for the entire year. Then my automotive was supposed to be paid for the whole year as well 4 cars, it was only done for 1 month and I had to do additional payments a month later for the remainder of policy.

The handling of my claim was horrible

Policy and price were misquoted several times during the purchasing of the policy. Yes, several. I understand policy adjustments being made, however the repeated misquotes about the cost of the policy and the monthly payment schedule was frustrating. I would not have chosen this policy under the current coverage, cost, and payment schedule.

When I join Horace Mann back in 2023 I absolutely loved the quotes I received, however when I called back to get the policy the quote jumped significantly in price, couldn’t understand why but I didn’t worry bout it. Fast forward to a couple months later, I tried to log into the app and it kept telling me my infor was wrong well come to find out my SSN was input wrong on policy! I ask several times to talk to my agent and never heard anything back from anyone… The experience left a bad taste in my mouth so I left Horace Mann I was gone for about a year or so, and then February of 25 I came back. However March of 25 my vehicle was stolen, and initially everything seemed to be going great and smooth until I didn’t head from my adjuster for a week and half AFTER my claim was posed to be paid out. When I finally heard from my adjuster there was some excuse of there was more investigating to be done. I asked him what more did he need and why couldn’t they have stayed in contact wit me to avoid this, and all he could give me was “someone will call you” Well someone did call me and at the time she essentially asked me all the questions my adjuster asked me EXCEPT the following: 1. Why did you purchase your vehicle out of state? I didn’t understand the question and when j began to question her about it she hung up in my face! We are now sitting at 2mos of the review since my vehicle was stolen and not only do I not have my vehicle or anything to show for it, I have been informed thru a phone call that my claim is being denied for my vehicle!! I placed a claim on my homeowners as well for my golf clubs which I was informed to do by the auto dept and the adjuster that is handling that claim misplaced paperwork, which she didn’t realize she misplaced UNTIL AFTER THAT CLAIM WAS DENIED!! However when I forwarded over the original email with all the documents and inventory sheet that process has now been dragged out another 2wks!! Looks like you all will take hard working teachers payments BUT NOT PAYOUT ON CLAIMS!! This company while the prices are good and they do help you out in that regard, the customer service and this process is absolutely horrible!! I I have recommended HM before cause if the pricing but after this I will NEVER RECOMMEND YOU ALL FOR ANYTHING!!
