The blood test Hone sent me was a finger-prick card collection, and the results did not match my actual venous blood draw from LabCorp that I took the same week. After doing some research, I found that dried blood spot tests are known to be unreliable for hormones—especially testosterone and estradiol. So I followed the advice and got a proper LabCorp serum test done. Unfortunately, every single marker on the Hone finger-prick kit was incorrect. I compared both sets of results using my upgraded ChatGPT medical analysis tool, and it clearly explained why dried blood spot hormone testing is inaccurate, particularly in men. My LabCorp test showed my true testosterone level was 179 ng/dL, which is clinically low and explains what I’ve been struggling with physically. LabCorp also showed that my estradiol was normal, not high like the Hone kit reported. During the consultation, the doctor dismissed all my concerns, praised only the Hone numbers, and refused to even look at the more accurate LabCorp blood panel I had done the day before. The attitude came across as arrogant and dismissive, and the conclusion she gave me (“you don’t need testosterone therapy”) was based on faulty data, not the real lab results. It took me a full year to finally get tested because of ongoing symptoms, so this was extremely frustrating and honestly embarrassing to deal with. Between the inaccurate test kit and the dismissive doctor, my experience was very disappointing. Based on what I went through, I cannot recommend this service—both because the dried blood spot test was inaccurate and because of how I was treated during my consultation. I had LabCorp do the blood work and I sent it into your office and the person that interviewed me was not interested in looking at fresh lab work from blood drawn the gold standard of lab work and it completely was different from your fingerprint lab work, give me a contact information and I will call you and send you the lab work personally. Here is right off of their lab results I would paste the whole file without my name if it would let me but you can just look at my file from this morning‘s visit it’s in there I sent the copy of the whole bloodwork from LabCorp Testosterone. Hey Steve, I'm sorry to hear about your consult, that's not the typical experience at all and we'd be happy to set up some time with a new provider if you're interested. Regarding the results, they're not faulty or inaccurate. The at-home test provides a baseline, and if you qualify for treatment, a second confirmatory lab is required. That lab takes place at LabCorp, Quest, or by an at home phlebotomist. Hone doesn't rely on one reading. Once again, we're sorry about the poor consult experience, we can do better there and are going to take that feedback seriously. However, claiming our testing is faulty is not a true statement. We work with the leading labs in the U.S. and are one of their few online health providers that follows industry standards with additional testing protocols. What our team would like to do is take a look at your recent LabCorp results and work with you on deciding the right treatment path. We'd also like to work with you on cost, since you paid for the LabCorp lab out of pocket. I'll make sure someone reaches out to help and get you the expedience you deserve!
