They support the abuse of their servers. It's been 7 days since I wrote to abuse team about a scam that happened to me, where the scammer is using their servers to host. No one from the abuse team has written back, and those scam sites are still live.

May I ask where you sent this complaint to? We certainly do not want to be hosting any scammers. If you sent a proper complaint to us we should have taken action by now but we are not finding any complaint from a week ago that matches your comments. I would love to research this for you and ensure you get a proper reply from our Abuse Dept and, of course, action be taken on the abusive site/server.
Our Abuse email is Abuse at Hivelocity DOT NET, not COM.

Lack of DDoS Protection
Over the years, what was previously a 5-star service has degraded into a rather unhealthy and frankly appalling partnership.
Hivelocity currently hosts around five machines, making up around 5% of our infrastructure overall. Of the numerous DCs we have worked with over the years, they have put in place more null routes on those 5 machines in one night, than we have received over a 7-year period across the other 95% of our infrastructure.
Their DDOS 'mitigation', even at the paid level isn't mitigation, but instead a direct null of the IP address. There appears to be no filtering as part of the paid service.
Support appears to have no understanding of how DDOS attacks work, and simply null route an IP address until an attack subsides - that doesn't feel particularly effective, given we have been forced into an outage due to their lack of protection for 5 hours so far this morning.
Appalling service overall.

Incompetent and dangerous staff! [5 year review]
I've been with Hivelocity for over 5 years, hosting a charity. The servers have been as expected the customer support not so. Most the time was it was ok, sometimes it was exceptionally poor. (fitting cpu fans backwards!)
Recently we had an nvme drive fail, which started to corrupt our data. I was on the server and immediately shut it down. When I asked that a block level image be take of the drive before any work was performed on it.
I was told QOUTE: "Unfortuantely our team does not have the tools to do that in this circumstance. All of our imaging and backup/export tools work above that level, usually needing a working file system"
He then went on to seek my permission to perform xfs_repair on the drive, telling me this could cause some damage!? What like the fact the drive is DYING you moron and using that tool like this with NO BACKUP to revert off is criminally dangerous in the hosting world. Simply unacceptable!
So I did what they couldn't, made a block level image from half a world away with DDrescue. (opensource tools) When I then told them to leave the drive in and fit the new one, THEY REMOVED THE DRIVE! They also didn't fit the new drive correctly thereby, having to request that it be fitted AGAIN as it wasn't showing. I ended up re-imaging the replacement drive *cough from the image I made that they said couldn't be done!
I've never experienced such ignorant and blindly dangerous behaviour, their "follow up" customer care was a joke and cemented me NEVER USING THIS COMPANY AGAIN.
Just don't do it, please, mark my words the day a P1 critical fault happens, you're not going to be supported and you'll regret it like I did.
I literately had to work AROUND their staff and as soon as that became apparent I moved us to a different hosting company. Not even an apology or ownership of their incompetent staff dangerous behaviour, in fact their "internal" review found nothing but professional responses.
The way they handled this failure of THIER equipment has made me regret having given them a single penny!
Hivelocity are NOT TO BE TRUSTED, SIMPLE!
EDIT REPLY: This company removed the drive when I told them not too, re-read their reply.... He's outright lying now. That's not following explicit instructions!
They're incredulous and worse have ZERO understanding of what IS an appropriate methodical disaster recovery process. You're a multi-million dollar international hosting company! That's not being meticulous, I WAS being meticulous!
As for backups going awry, that can happen to the best of us, it's not that I didn't have backups, they just wasn't as up to date. Quite frankly even if my backups WAS 24hrs old I would of STILL recovered the data this way ensuring we lost barely an hours worth of data.
The fact you can't even say sorry and respectfully listen to me without pushing the blame on me is disgusting! Your equipment failed and I did all the work, with almost no thanks to your staff it was like pulling teeth to work with them in all honesty.
FACT: I recovered the data your staff couldn't even dream of understanding how to accomplish. That's so sad for a company of your size and stature. Shameful.
Worse is how your treating me now... Disgraceful.
Further Edit:
I asked to be escalated to the service desk manager and I received the below reply.... I am beyond words. All I have tried doing it reaching someone technically literate enough to understand the grave failings they have and therefore help their company become better for their remaining customers, instead I am treated like this. They really don't care...

Mr. Smart,
We appreciate your feedback and your long-term relationship with us at Hivelocity. It’s unfortunate to hear your recent experience hasn’t matched your previous years with us. Upon careful review of the tickets related to your server issue, we noticed there was no recorded dissent about the chosen course of action. Our team is meticulous about updating clients in real time about all decisions and steps taken, a protocol that was adhered to during your interaction, and at no point did you disagree with or ask us to not partake in a specific action. Nothing was done without your approval as once again the server is self-managed.
It’s vital to understand that you have a self-managed server and do not subscribe to our bare metal server backup plan(s). This necessitates a client taking ownership of their data backups and implementing a robust backup plan. Our team often goes the extra mile, exceeding our SLA and SOP parameters, to support our clients. Still, we are not responsible for data protection or your backups on a self-managed server, and, any server administrator will tell you that you should have a robust backup plan in place to avoid or mitigate catastrophic failures because all hardware will eventually fail. For this reason, we strongly advise clients to prioritize a sound backup strategy when they have a self-managed server. Your concerns regarding the drive replacement have been noted, however, any perceived miscommunication during this process must be seen in the light of us following your explicit instructions as the server administrator. Hivelocity’s service is delivered by a team of professionals, deeply committed to their craft, and our track record is a testament to this commitment. We encourage open dialogue and would welcome any further input you may have on this matter. Thanks for your feedback; it plays a crucial role in our continuous improvement process.
Update:
Hivelocity does not engage in this type of behavior when working directly with our clients internally, nor do we externally, specifically in professional forums.
You have every right to add your experience, as you have, and we also have the right to respond, as we have. We will not be responding to further rhetoric.
Our customer's success and satisfaction is always our top priority. We sincerely hope that you can achieve both, whether in collaboration with our team or through alternative means.
Thank you,
AJ

Ordered a server on Mar/01/2023 11:28 AM EST and it was supposed to be ready in less than 24h it's already Mar/02/2023 6:37PM EST and not ready.
Support service is really poor, and they don't seem to have any collaboration with other teams.

Hi Aman,
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about your recent experience. Our records show that a custom server was ordered. Custom servers can go online as quickly as the same day, however, they can often take a few days. This custom order was deployed in 36 hours. If you ever have any questions in regards to your server deployment, please feel free to open a live chat or email your Customer Success team at qa.hivelocoty.net. for review.

Incompetent staff who dont understand web tech
Dealing with Hivelocity on behalf of one of my customers is nothing except a tedious chore, particularly when the staff do not understand basic principles such as cache lifetimes.
This has led to them threatening to null route our IP several times from DMCA requests because the staff dont understand the concept of pushing CTRL+F5 to hard refresh the page and see the content is no longer there.
This is on top of some agreements made in the pre-sales that were not provided or honored, as well as items having to be chased to be set up.
If it wernt for that my client was otherwise happy with the speed of the service, I would have dumped them within days for another provider.
Save yourself a headache and avoid.

Hello Jonathan,
Thank you for your review. I understand abuse issues can be a delicate situation. I understand you received the 2nd notice about the abuse case in question after the time to reply was elapsed. This 2nd notice was sent as a courtesy as apposed to the server ip being nulled. If we dont get a reply we have no way to knowing that you took action. I see the case has been closed and I am happy to hear your customer is dedicated to the Hivelocity service outside of this abuse issue. We will continue to make every effort for all departments to run as smoothly as our service does. Please let us know if you have any other questions or we can help your Hivelocity experience in anyway.
Thank you,
TO
Tommy

Hivelocity bad review and bad service
Horrible dedicated server web hosting company and caused deliberate downtime after being a long time customer for over 7 years. If your website or app grows popular enough to get abuse reports their abuse department, specifically Jay M. (Jay Merrill Abuse Department Manager) is not understanding and will want your website removed no matter what and force you to migrate last minute. If you plan for your website or app to get popular then find a better host and you won't have any problems midway during growth. We reached out to their management and they said they were looking into the issue but still have not responded directly after months even though they said they were looking into it. It only takes one crappy person like Jay Merrill to ruin your company especially if management doesn't listen to customers. We've since moved on to a better server host that understands that our servers were in no way malicious or abuse (multiple hosts looked into it and concluded the same). On top of that we're paying way less than we were at Hivelocity for better hardware and service. Do your research and you will easily find better dedicated web hosts at lower prices. Hivelocity is not even competitively priced anymore after 7 years looking at competition now. Companies change and unfortunately Hivelocity has only gotten worse. I'd recommend everyone look elsewhere for a host. Unfortunately it was their reviews that got me to choose them in the beginning and I hope to add to their growing list of negative reviews to help offset some positive reviews that looks like they were written by their employees and friends and hopefully help reasonable people that find this steer clear of Hivelocity.

We provide the network, power and server infrastructure for thousands of applications across the globe. Unfortunately, as your app grew in popularity, so did your users’ thirst for exploiting the app for nefarious purposes. We do not take any joy in losing a good customer but we have an obligation to respond and react to abuse complaints. You stayed with us for 7 years because you liked our service and we do a good job. You moved from us because we asked you to adapt to the fact your app was now leading to MANY abuse complaints. We wish you luck with your new provider.
