I have been with them for more than six months, and I saw no results whatsoever! The training is "Eh!". Nothing you can't learn freely on YouTube and Google! The technical prep classes are very mediocre. For someone of my strength in coding, the gain was practically zero. The automatic job application is useless. During this time, I have received 10X more interviews out of the jobs I applied for personally, than I received from their job application and email networking tools. Also, after the training is over (4 weeks), you are TOTALLY on your own. They never got in touch with me to ask for any updates or offer me some guidance. I understand that these are some incredibly hard times for the tech industry, but still, I receive 4-5 interviews a month by myself and receive 0 from all their applications. They apply to more than 100 jobs a week for me and send dozens of networking emails, out of which 98% are just garbage and absolutely irrelevant. It is totally inefficient. That is why I get much more interviews myself while applying to ~30-40 jobs a week! Also, if you are hoping that they have some connections in top companies and that they can magically get you interviews (or even job offers), I should tell you that this cannot be further from the truth. All these are coming from a person with a strong academic background (research papers, internship with a top company with over $20 billion in revenue) and only no real work experience (prior to joining them, I received two interviews from the top 10 tech companies!). And lastly, this is not just me. I am in touch with most of my peers who started HiCounselor with me, and no one has landed a job yet. My advice is to stay away from these seemingly easy shortcuts! I still get frustrated when I think that when I finally land a job on my own, I have to pay them thousands of dollars for doing virtually nothing for me.

I had a decent experience with HiCounselor. It has a job search accelerator program for the US technology industry. The first few weeks include training for technical interviews, behavioral interviews, professional networking, improving resume and LinkedIn profile, etc. Various experts help and coach in each of these areas. The candidate has to create around 3 to 5 new e-mail accounts and integrate them with the HiCounselor system. Then, HiCounselor starts automated e-mail networking and automated job applications on behalf of the candidate. The candidate must follow up on each e-mail and job application that the system sends, and manually continue the process forward. If there are any errors, then the candidate must immediately bring them to the attention of HiCounselor, for preventing similar errors in future e-mails and job applications. Within about 5 months, I fortunately got a US job offer. In exchange, as long as my monthly salary is above a certain threshhold, I have to pay 9 % of my monthly salary for 12 months. The income share agreement is executed through Leif. There were also some other job search agencies which charge upfront fees, but I could not afford them as I was a student. Also, I thought that an income-share agreement may be better, because then the job search agency makes money only if I make money, hence their success depends on my success. An agency charging upfront fee in the beginning may not care much about your success after you pay them. I would recommend people to first try to find a job on their own. If they have applied to hundreds of jobs but are unsuccessful in getting interviews for several months, and they are approaching a deadline to get a job and / or end of their financial savings, then they can try a job search accelerator program like HiCounselor. Such a system may be helpful for international students as US job search is even more challenging for them, especially during recession / downturn. (Many US companies do not sponsor US work visa, so they do not hire international students. Also, international students have limited time to find a US job, in addition to completing their coursework and research in the US university.)

I wanted to give one star but I gave an extra star just because of their behavioral interview instructors. I started my job search process last year, I had my green card process on hold as a result I asked them to put the class on hold for me however, I still got notifications for the same stating that my task assignments are overdue. I had to reach out to them like 3 times and then they stopped the notification for me. 5 months later when I was ready to start the class, I did not get any job interviews from them just lot of assessments. The interviewer for behavioral interview were good but other than that I had a really bad experience. Finally I landed a job which I applied on my own without any help from HiCounselor and still pay them. Seems like the Company is using the crisis in job market as their advantage. The introduction is done by the CEO where he states that he is readily always available by email for any concerns/questions but you never get a response from him. Infact, while being enrolled in program I got emails and LinkedIn messages to join their career accelerator program which shows they do not have their user data organized . Do I regret joining the program Big YES. Pros: Behavioral interview help but I can believe u can get that help with any HR person or career coach or just practicing mock interviews with your friends/family. Cons: a) Not worth the money b)Adds added task while you are already stressed about finding work c) They have this job fair do an hour long event where you apply for open jobs that they have collaboration with and still there is no update from those postings as well. To round it up, For future job seekers DO NOT waste your time and money; You can try and would easily find jobs on your own. Funny part; they have disclaimer that says this a genuine review and I have not been offered any incentive to leave review but the company representative sent an mail stating submit a review and you may be eligible for $25 amazon giftcard. LOL

I joined HiCounselor immediately after graduation and the pandemic was in full swing at that time. I was totally freaked out due to the lay-offs and near zero responses to my job application. HiCounselor helped me upskill and land a job that would otherwise have been a very difficult process for any job seeker. At times I wanted to give up and go back to my home country as an international student, but not only Hi Counselor helped me maintain my morale but helped me see through to getting a job that matched exactly what I wanted.

I was amazed by the amount of help that I received in my job search. There are multiple parts involved when applying for jobs and it makes things easier when a company shares that load for you.
