HelpWire is remote access software for IT teams and technicians providing support across Windows, macOS, and Linux. Sessions start through a link: the remote user joins without creating an account or entering credentials, which reduces the coordination overhead. HelpWire sessions rely on direct peer-to-peer connections whenever possible, with relay fallback as a backup. For follow-up, unattended access lets technicians return to a device later without the remote user present, including after reboots.

Cant reach client because update is not compatible with clients
Version 2.2.77 of operator is not compatible with version 2.1.x so now I have a whole bunch of clients that are stuck on 2.1 and operator software 2.2 and I'm unable to reach any of the computers..... Blech.

Was great until it was not
Was great. Until they moved to paid licensing and now nothing is working.
I'm a long time user. Enjoyed the software, despite issues with keyboard hijacking and javascript and the like, which continue to happen since day one.
Now that they moved to paid licensing, I upgraded my account to a paid account, but nothing is working. I'm getting kicked out for exceeding my license (which I am not). I use remote access for a living helping smaller companies. I'm unable to do anything at the moment other than start looking for a new remoting software.

HelpWire stands out of its competitors
HelpWire stands out of its competitors, by offering an attractive, very well crafted, multisystem and easy-to-use product for remote assistance.
Besides, they have an excellent support department, willing to help and very professional.
Highly recommended.

Great new IT support tool
I have been using Helpwire to support macOS for the past few months, gradually switching over from Anydesk. It has been pretty reliable and the process of walking the end user through giving permissions for Helpwire to access the screen, keyboard and mouse is MUCH smoother than Anydesk.
Technical support staff were very responsive and helpful with a couple of small glitches I experienced.
Overall I'm very pleased with Helpwire - I will be using this in future and happy to pay the new subscription charge when it kicks in.
I only have one very minor negative point: I REALLY want to be able to sort Groups and Clients alphabetically or manually rather than the fixed reverse chronological order provided currently. Hopefully this will come soon as the product matures.

Long-time user of AnyDesk
Long-time user of AnyDesk. With their new version, I experienced nothing but problems. I'm a computer tech, so I am technically savvy. Tried their newest version and downgraded back to an earlier version. They moved everything around and implemented draconian new preferences. Also implemented time limits on their free version. Found HelpWire, and I will never go back. HelpWire is simple and easy with no time restrictions. What's not to like?

Thing to fix
1) You need to fix the UAC prompt problem.
2) You need to fix the consultant's console so the internet disconnect reconnect the same as does from the web portal
3) you need to come up with a way to connect when the client does not have or their eMail is malfunctioning.
4) you need to fix the upgrade to administrator crash problem
This should not reflect badly on the excellent tech support they offer.

Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback — detailed reports like yours genuinely help us improve.
Let me go through your points one by one:
1. We'd like to dig into this properly. Could you share more detail about what's happening — for example, when the prompt appears, how often, and whether it blocks the session from continuing? If you can gather logs from the troubleshooting guide at https://kb.helpwire.app/troubleshooting/ and send them through to [email protected], that'll give us the clearest path to a fix.
2. We want to make sure we fully understand the behavior you're seeing before we investigate, so the same question applies here: could you describe what happens step by step? Logs from both the operator and client sides would be really helpful — the troubleshooting guide above covers both.
3. This is something we're actively thinking about. Alternative connection methods are on our roadmap, though we don't have a specific timeline to share just yet. We'll keep you posted as things develop.
4. We're sorry to hear this is happening. A crash on admin rights elevation is something we want to look at closely, so any detail you can add — what triggers it, which OS, whether it's consistent — along with logs sent to [email protected] will help us track it down.
Best regards,
The HelpWire Customer Success Team
