Routine lab monitoring is a standard and essential part of Accutane treatment, regardless of whether care is provided through telehealth or by an in-person dermatologist. Accutane can affect certain lab values over time, and periodic bloodwork allows providers to ensure the medication remains safe and appropriate throughout treatment. In some cases, labs may need to be checked more than once to monitor changes and protect the patient’s health. While this can feel inconvenient, it’s done in the patient’s best interest and follows established medical and safety guidelines. We’d like to clarify a few points for both you and others considering our service. Accutane requires monthly follow-up evaluations in order to remain compliant with FDA regulations. The monthly evaluation fee reflects this required medical oversight and is comparable to what many in-person dermatology practices charge as a specialist visit or copay. Regarding pricing, the higher monthly totals referenced include the optional choice to fill medication through our partner pharmacy. This is never mandatory. All patients are welcome to use a local pharmacy, along with insurance coverage or GoodRx, which can significantly reduce medication costs depending on individual circumstances. We’re very sorry to hear about the frustration surrounding communication. That’s not the experience we aim to provide. In addition to phone calls, patients can always reach us via text or email, and they also have the ability to message their dermatologist and medical assistant directly to coordinate a time that works best. We’re actively working to improve scheduling consistency so that calls happen within the agreed-upon time frames. We’re sorry to hear that your most recent experience didn’t meet expectations. We did issue you a full reimbursement for the month as soon as there was a delay with your shipment, and we agree that’s the right thing to do. However, to clarify for others reading: we only ship medication when a patient confirms their shipping address and payment. Once a package leaves our pharmacy, we don’t have the ability to reroute it unless the carrier allows it. That’s why we always recommend patients double-check the address on file before confirming an order. We also offer the option to pick up medication at a local pharmacy if preferred, and many of our patients choose that route for added flexibility. If there’s ever a breakdown in communication, we take full accountability and we’re always available via email to help resolve any open issues.
