After writing this review and disputing the credit card charges we were contacted by Happening Travel Club . They offered a resolution that would give us credit for 90% of what we paid, but the credit could only be used for additional travel with their club and only during 2026 or 2027. We were able to use part of the credit against the other trip we had already booked, it has yet to be decided if we will take any other trips with Happening Travel Cub and use the remaining credit.
Response from Happening Travel ClubAug 25, 2026
Dear Kathy, I read your updated review, and I want to clarify a few points because I believe the way the resolution is described does not accurately reflect what Happening Travel Club provided to you. First, our decision to contact you and work toward a resolution was not because you posted a review or disputed the credit card charges. Your situation had already been brought to management and was being discussed thoroughly. We made the decision to work with you because we care about our members and wanted to find a fair solution to your concerns. Second, the changes to the Callaway Gardens and Stone Mountain attractions were made by the suppliers and were completely outside of Happening Travel Club's control. You were asking to cancel your trip because of those changes, even though the trip itself had not been cancelled by Happening Travel Club and we had not failed to deliver the remaining components of the trip. In addition, we added additional attractions and enhanced the itinerary at no additional cost to you in an effort to make up for the changes. Unfortunately, that part of our effort is not reflected in your review. Under our normal cancellation policy, there would have been no obligation to provide a refund simply because a supplier changed or cancelled an attraction. In fact, based on the cancellation terms applicable to your reservation, you would have forfeited 100% of your trip cost. Instead, we made an exception specifically for you. At the time of your original booking, you had the opportunity to purchase our $49-per-person Travel Waiver, which would have allowed you to cancel for any reason and receive future travel credit. You chose not to purchase that protection. Despite that, we made an exception to allow you to purchase the Travel Waiver retroactively—after the normal purchase window had already passed. That was a special exception and a significant accommodation on our part. As a result, rather than forfeiting 100% of your trip cost under the normal cancellation terms, you received your entire eligible trip cost, less the $49-per-person Travel Waiver fee, as future travel credit. So, to clarify the point in your review: you did not receive “90% of what you paid.” You received 100% of your eligible trip balance as future travel credit, less the $49-per-person Travel Waiver fee, through a special exception that was not available under the standard terms of your reservation. The credit is restricted to Happening Travel Club trips because it is future travel credit, not a cash refund. This was clearly explained when the exception was offered. We are certainly not asking you to take another trip with us if you do not wish to. You are free to make that decision. However, I am disappointed to see the resolution described in a way that may give readers the impression that Happening Travel Club provided an inadequate outcome, when in reality we went beyond our standard policy to provide you with a significantly more favorable resolution than you would have received under the terms of your original reservation. We respect your right to share your experience, but we also hope that your review can accurately reflect the full circumstances, including the changes that were outside our control, the additional attractions we added at no additional cost, and the significant exception our nonprofit organization made to resolve your concerns. Warm regards, Shubham Happening Travel Club
