Groundfloor is a great investment diversification option
Love Groundfloor. I’ve used it for a number of years now to diversify my investment activity and I regularly see returns of 12% to 15% annually, even as the stock market has shown poor returns and losses. This platform allows you to invest in short-term mortgage loans, primarily in the residential redevelopment space. Most are financed for 12 months or less. This is not an insured investment through FDIC like a bank account or a CD. This has risk and if a loan you fund does default, you could lose your investment. I started off testing the platform with investments as low as $10 each and as I’ve grown comfortable with the platform, I’ve gone as high as $2500 on a single investment. To date, I’ve invested in 408 loans. Only a handful have gone into default, but in all cases to date, I’ve been able to fully recover my principal investment. I’ve also set it up so that as loans and earnings are repaid, the platform will automatically reinvest the funds into new loans I’ve approved by graded classification. That keeps my money compounding. All in all, I’ve been pleased with this investment option that allows me to invest in real estate without having to hold property and that gives me a good, consistent rate of return.
