I’ve supported and relied on GoSun gear for years. Their ecosystem is brilliantly complementary—from solar cooking, water purification, and off-grid power to breakthrough innovations like EV charging, campers, and solar boating. They continuously push boundaries across every category to give families total off-grid self-reliance. When the opportunity opened to invest in GoSun via StartEngine, I jumped at the chance. What truly sets them apart is Patrick Sherwin and his team. Anytime a question or issue has ever arisen over the years, they’ve consistently gone above and beyond to make things right. World-class clean tech backed by genuine care.

No customer service response at all. The pan doesn't fit all the way into the tube (the one that is both electric and solar), because it's too long. So it doesn't seal and heat leaks out. I tried to get it to fit but instead it cracked the tube on the far end. I tried to contact customer service several times and ZERO response. Frustrating. I will not buy again nor recommend.

Great, fast service. Shipped same day, products arrived well packed. Like a kid I had to try it out same day it arrived. Worked great, will recommend to my other friends who go camping, hiking and canoeing. Great to have if the electric goes out.

Thanks so much for the great review! We love hearing that you put it to the test right away and that it’s ready for your camping adventures or when the power goes out.

As other reviews have mentioned, the EV solar charger is does not work. It’s like buying an Apple 1 computer, when you thought you were getting a 2026 Apple Mac. The product is not ready for main stream consumer use. At best it will suit a solar enthusiast, who like to play with solar charging hardware. It is very heavy, had poor aerodynamics, the external battery is disappointing, and it won’t charge your car, as most level 1 12Amp chargers draw 1,360w, the EV charger barely produces 900w in full sun at mid day, so you drain the power station pretty quickly. Then it shuts down, so you are done. I have an F150 lightning, and on my best day, I got maybe 2.7kW of power out of it. Very poor. I have being playing with an additional battery connected to the power station, and doubling the solar input, and it now starts to charge, but very weather dependent. It’s just not good enough, and frankly GOSUN is a very dishonest company.

Hello Vernon, we are bummed to hear about your bad experience with the EV Solar Charger on your Ford Lightning Truck. There are some improvements worth considering - an adjustable EVSE cable can help turn down the charge rate to better match the incoming solar energy. We claim up to 20 miles of range added each day, but with your larger vehicle, that may be closer to 10-15 miles. This is a first-generation product, and while many customers are using it successfully, it is also a new category of technology with real-world variables including sun angle, weather, vehicle energy demand, EVSE behavior, mounting setup, and power station performance. We want to be clear that GoSun has worked hard to develop and deliver this product and we are actively learning from early customers to improve the next version. Your feedback about weight, aerodynamics, charging behavior, and power station limitations is important, and we would like the chance to review your setup directly to see what can be improved. Please consider contacting us at [email protected] with your vehicle, EVSE, and photos of your setup. We’ll do our best to help troubleshoot and find a good path forward. We respectfully disagree with the claim that GoSun is dishonest. The EV Solar Charger is an early-generation product in a new category of solar on-board charging. We are committed to supporting customers, learning from real-world use, and improving the system. Please reconsider how you're framing your experience.

GoSun Inc. engaged in deceptive marketing, material alteration of product specifications post-purchase, and a violation of their published refund policies. In Sept. 2024 I placed a $100 deposit for GoSun’s Solar EV Charger based on promotional claims that it fits "any EV," was "lightweight" and "easy to take on & off," and that "everything you need is stowed in an aerodynamic package." I paid the balance in full in Nov. 2025. Upon delivery in Aug. 2026, I found all these claims to be false. It is too heavy to safely handle, requires a heavy-duty roof rack that exceeds my car’s roof load capacity, has a large unadvertised battery pack that occupies a passenger seat, and requires power cables routed through the rear hatch that pose an unadvertised water-intrusion risk to my car. When I contacted GoSun to request a refund for the completely unopened product, they denied my request in writing, stating: "The EV Solar Charger was offered as a crowdfunded product, and the contribution was non-refundable." This claim is patently false and violates GoSun's own terms: Per official GoSun Refund Policy, "$50 and $100 deposits are refundable at any time, no time limit." The product page states the EV Solar Charger has a "100% Fully Refundable Deposit – Risk Free Reservation." GoSun cannot force a consumer to keep a materially-altered product that compromises vehicle safety. Because GoSun delivered a product that is significantly and materially different from what was advertised, and never informed me of these changes before delivery, standard return windows do not apply. Yet GoSun refused a return. When I wrote them a 2nd time, they again attempted to use deceptive corporate policies and crowdfunding nomenclature to bypass fundamental consumer protection standards and credit card merchant rules. 1. GoSun explicitly admits that their 30-day return window closes "30 days after you pay, well before your unit is shipped". A consumer cannot legally be bound to a return window that expires before they receive physical possession of the goods. Because the product delivered was materially altered, the date of physical delivery is the only legally valid baseline. 2. GoSun openly admits in their response that "the battery configuration was changed so that the power station would be stored inside the vehicle rather than being integrated into the rooftop housing." This is a textbook definition of Material Breach of Contract. I agreed to buy a product advertised as a fully-integrated, aerodynamic rooftop package. I did not agree to buy a bulky 130 lb system that forces an unadvertised battery pack into my passenger cabin, occupies seat space, and creates a water-intrusion risk via loose power cables. 3. GoSun claims that because I confirmed my shipping address, I accepted the product modifications. Confirming a delivery address is a logistical necessity to receive an order; it does not constitute a legally binding waiver of my consumer rights or acceptance of degraded, unsafe product modifications. GoSun acknowledges they changed the product specs post-purchase. Because the finalized product does not conform to the promotional material upon which my buying decision was made, and because they did not inform me of these changes until it was too late, GoSun is obligated to accept the return of this completely unopened merchandise, but they refuse. Do not buy GoSun's Solar EV Charger. ETA: GoSun in its response is engaging in more corporate obfuscation. This is a clear case of bait-and-switch. The Solar EV Charger is NOT USABLE with my car. It's regrettable that my only recourse now is to submit 1-star reviews. GoSun offered no refund, no store credit, nothing. This is a shady company that should be avoided. 2nd edit: WRT GoSun's argument that crowdfunding is exempt from returns: I didn't just pledge money to back a generic campaign; I finalized a purchase in 2025. Once a company moves a product to final billing and specifies that it's built to fit "any EV," a binding commercial sales contract is formed. Under the law, minor changes (like using a different brand of solar cell or latch) are acceptable in crowdfunding. But a major material alteration destroys the original purpose of the transaction. Forcing me to accept an external, heavy, unannounced battery that must sit inside my compact car completely changes the safety, storage & utility profile of the product. The FTC Mail & Telephone Order Merchandise Rule states that if a merchant makes a material change to a pre-ordered product, or delays shipping significantly, they must obtain the consumer's consent to the changes or offer a full refund. GoSun gave me no such advance notice. Therefore, standard return windows do not apply.

Hello Sue, thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand that the EV Solar Charger did not meet your expectations, especially regarding weight and vehicle fit. The EV Solar Charger is a first-generation product in a new category. During development, the product evolved as we worked to improve reliability, safety, serviceability, and real-world functionality. We recognize that some of those changes created limitations for certain vehicles and customers, and that feedback is directly informing the next version. We respectfully disagree with claims that GoSun acted dishonestly or deceptively. GoSun has worked in good faith to pre-sell, develop, manufacture, and deliver this product after a long development process, and we remain committed to supporting customers and learning from real-world use. Because individual orders, refund requests, and customer communications involve specific details, we won’t debate those details in a public review thread. We do appreciate your feedback, and we are using it, along with feedback from other early customers, to improve the EV Solar Charger and future GoSun solar mobility products.

It’s a Christmas gift, so it’s not opened. But I have one, and love it.
