They don’t care about your health or fitness, it’s about the money.
The gyms themselves in Alberta that I have been to are okay, decent facilities, with the standard equipment. I will say the spray and stiff cheap paper towels that barely anyone uses make it a little gross and I suggest always spraying the equipment down before and after. GoodLife company itself has policies that are not very member friendly. Having previously worked for a chain gym, I was shocked to hear when I could not use the gym for 3 months (with proof of such) and had not known that they wouldn’t be able to credit me back (as other gyms do). I understand that I should have froze the account, my mistake. But the fact they would not even consider making an exception when I was absolutely willing to pay for another year upfront, and the responses I received basically told me to stop trying it’s their policy and they will not make exceptions shows their lack of compassion and care for its members.
On top of this, they’ve been through multiple controversies with the Kirpan and putting women in vulnerable situations.
Would not recommend.

⭐ Great Trainer, but Disappointing Facilities and Poor Value for Money
⭐
Hwy 27 location
The gym is neat, clean, and well-maintained, and the staff is very friendly. I would also like to give a special shout-out to my personal trainer, Nafeesa, who is honestly the best trainer I have ever had. She is amazing, and I truly appreciate her dedication and professionalism.
However, I have some serious concerns about the gym's facilities, pricing, and recent changes.
The location I attend is quite small, and I have never understood why GoodLife Fitness has multiple smaller locations within a 10 to 15-minute drive of each other while offering much larger, brighter, and more spacious facilities in other areas. Where I live, I have two GoodLife locations within a 12 to 15-minute drive, and both are among the smaller facilities.
If larger facilities are not available in certain areas, I believe the membership pricing should reflect the difference in the amenities and space provided. We are still paying approximately $80 per month, the same as members who have access to much larger facilities. Most people are not going to drive an hour to Brampton, Vaughan, or Mississauga just to access a bigger gym.
My biggest concern, however, is the recent renovation. The gym previously had a dedicated personal training area, but that space has now been removed to accommodate more machines. While I understand that this may benefit members who work out independently, it has created significant challenges for those of us who pay extra for personal training.
I pay approximately $500 extra for one-on-one training, on top of my $80 monthly membership. That is nearly $600 a month, and I expect to receive the dedicated attention and access to equipment that I am paying for.
Unfortunately, since the changes were made, both my trainer and I frequently have to wait for machines. Sometimes the waiting is so long that a one-hour training session stretches to an hour and a half. My trainer's other clients are also waiting, and the entire experience has become frustrating and inconvenient.
I genuinely liked the renovation, but I feel that the needs of members who pay for personal training have been overlooked.
GoodLife Fitness really needs to reconsider how it manages its training areas and equipment availability. Members paying a premium for personal training should not have to spend so much of their session waiting for machines.
I love my trainer and appreciate the cleanliness and friendly staff, but the current situation is becoming difficult to justify financially. If these issues are not addressed, I will seriously consider cancelling my membership.

A Corporate Scam
At this point, we’re prepared to pursue the matter in civil court. We have tried to cancel our GoodLife Fitness memberships three times. Yet they have kept taking money out of our account, pausing our membership for 6 months, and reactivating it with out consent. We haven’t set foot in the gym in over a year, yet more than $1,000 has been taken from our account. When I called again, I was told there was no record of our earlier cancellation requests. I couldn’t speak to a supervisor, and no one could resolve the issue. This is a prime example of corporate greed, and I do not recommend getting tied up in their web of scams.

I had been a member for 13 years and…
I had been a member for 13 years and had favourable experiences with the in-person staff. However, I had ONE incident, yes ONE, (in the entire 13 years(!)whereby my account had NSF. I remedied this in person. Despite putting my account on freeze and then ultimately cancelling my account, they decided that I still owed $27 for a week. Paying the $27 was not an issue if I owed it but what was absolutely disgusting is the fact that they harassed me daily with emails and phone calls to acquire this $27. Essentially bullying me to pay! You would think that after giving them well over $10,000 they would have the decency to simply wave that amount. Clearly they do not value you as a long term client. It’s all about the money! Be very aware.

Use to be a GoodLife member
Use to be a GoodLife member, after seeing how the corporation handled the incident with the guy carrying a knife 🔪 into the gym, and let me be clear about it, I don’t care what you or anyone else says, it’s Not religious it’s a weapon period. The employee did the right thing by kicking the bum out, what GoodLife did to the employee by firing her for doing her job is despicable and shameful, I’ve cancelled my membership and boycott GoodLife indefinitely. You people are pathetic peace’s of 💩
