The customer service from GoodDog itself has been great-personal emails and recommendations, hasty replies-but from the breeders themselves I haven't gotten great communication and I've waiting upwards of 2 weeks with no reply.

Since I haven't contacted a breeder
Since I haven't contacted a breeder, or started actively looking, pushing me into a review seems a bit pointless, but it's that or be constantly reminded to give one, so this is it. If i had something to review, my rating would probably be better.

Gooddog applications and payment plan
Gooddog applications were absolutely terrific… numerous applications to many to count! Gooddog was really responsive to my phone calls and spent lots of time with me. Where they fell down, in a major way , was when I attempted to use the payment portal for payment. The link was broken, the client was in a rush to get on the road, so I had to take a personal check, something I was reluctant to do with this particular owner. I then called them several times with no response. Still haven’t heard from them😣

CONFUSION
I am new at looking for a good breeder, sooo when I thought I was contacting
a breeder I guess I was contacting Good Dog. Then when you guys answered back with an E mail I still thought I was talking to the breeder that I was trying to contact. Once I read my e mail about 3x I finally figured it out.
It is not that I had a bad Experience. I was disappointed I was not contact the breeder.
I never heard from the breeder so I don't know if she even got my e mail

First of all…
First of all…. I hate writing reviews. Especially negative ones but, in this case, I feel compelled to express my feelings about Good Dog.
I did not look for assistance when I started searching for a breed specific puppy. I have 6 dogs (all from shelters or rescues). I have had Dogs my whole life. I feel that I am able to navigate through the puppy breeder information that I was seeking, without any outside advise. If I somehow “clicked” on something that linked me with Good Dog, I apologize. If Good Dog’s purpose is to support reputable breeders, then I am sorry I was not thrilled with the interference. I am going to continue to look for the puppy of my husbands dreams but, I think I will stick to the resources I know that rescue and re-home the perfectly wonderful animals that need a home.

We tried to work with Von Attleboro…
We tried to work with Von Attleboro Kennels in our search for a Boston and got very little help and response from them. Mis-information was posted for months. Then suddenly all litter information was changed and the sire was different for both litters. We followed all instructions and completed the application. Heartbroken and dissapointed.

The value of “Standard vs NonStandard”
I breed miniature schnauzers. GoodDog’s categorization of standard colors vs non-standard colors is lacking in common sense. 1)AKC registers both standard and non-standard with the EXACT SAME REGISTRY. 2)Yes, my parent dogs are “non-standard” colors. They can, and DO, produce both standard and nonstandard colored puppies.
The average puppy buyer is under the impression “non-standard” is somehow “sub-standard”… which we are not. This categorization results in much less traffic/inquiry on those of us “non-standard” breeders.
I do enjoy the wonderful continuing education GoodDog provides for breeders and the financial security of purchase for both breeder and customer. With regard to these services, GoodDog is definitely above the standard.

Hi Paula!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share this feedback with us. Good Dog is a place for all dogs, and we’re so happy to have you as a member of our community. We have worked closely with the American Miniature Schnauzer Club to develop a policy on coat colors in Miniature Schnauzers that aligns with the Club's position. You can read more about that policy here: https://www.gooddog.com/good-breeder-center/coat-color-in-the-miniature-schnauzer-policy
This is in no way meant to designate non-standard programs as sub-par. Our goal is to be a place for the public to learn about all types of dogs and all breeds and find the right dog for them. If you still have questions or would like to speak with a member of our team to better understand our non-standard policies and how we educate the public, please reach out to us at [email protected].

I like the platform but… applications aren’t serious
I like the platform for advertising my dogs. Easy to use and looks professional. I like the notifications and reminder notifications. I accepted a payment through the website as well, she later said she actually can’t get a dog and asked for a refund.
The problem I am having is with that the number of serious inquiries is scarce. I have a lot of applications, and takes time vet, and 60% don’t respond back once I reach out to them. Never had this before when potential puppy buys found me and filled out my own application through my website. Maybe it’s “too” easy for them to apply and don’t see our time as valuable.
Also. On a breeder standpoint. You ask us if we health test but don’t make us proven it before you “stand behind us as good breeders”, I can see this coming back to to- no pun intended- Bite you in the you know what. Just my honest opinion. It’s too easy to say breeders are something they really aren’t.

Every Good Breeder must pass our screening process and meet or exceed our community standards. Our team comprehensively considers many aspects of a breeding program, focusing on five key areas: breeding practices, physical health of the breeding dog and puppies, mental health of the breeding dog and puppies, environment, and buyer education and policies. You can learn more about our community standards and our screening process here: gooddog.com/standards-and-screening.
If you still have questions or would like to speak with a member of our team to better understand our screening process or share any additional feedback, please reach out to us at [email protected]. Thank you so much!
