Absolutely do not rely on this company for a dog. They do not back a single thing they claim, or if they do, it is very pick and choosey.
When things like "hooded vulvas" are genetically passed off by the breeder to the unsuspecting customer, GoodDog will back the breeder 100%, and demand the customer support their claim.
The problem is, if these dogs were pre-inspected by GoodDog to begin with, they wouldn't be passing off genetically inferior dogs to unsuspecting customers.
So their false advertising of "Breeders are vetted" is an absolutely dishonest claim.
Our puppy was never "potty trained", came to us with worms, the breeder was extremely dishonest, and flatly told us she bred her dog so she could get enough money to fix the hooded vulva issue in HER dog. She made a lot of money off those puppies and half the litter was female, and genetically predisposed to hooded vulva issues.

Sharing an experience I didn’t expect with GOOD DOG
We joined Good Dog in late 2024 and
Over the past year, we have made a real effort to be transparent and helpful in puppy listings, taking time to explain details, clarify Good Dog’s rules, and make sure buyers understood their options when purchasing through the platform.
Recently, we received an email stating my account was TEMPORARILY suspended—not for health, quality, or care issues (we are show quality for breed standard ), but because we allegedly offered “more payment options than allowed for aGood aDog Buyers” .The GOOD DOG email said our account would be “HAPPILY reinstated “ if we replied back to agreed to follow Good Dog’s payment rules. We felt hurt and chose to question the alleged violation. What surprised us most is when we asked for clarification on where or when this violation occurred, they didn’t response. We even sent examples of wording used in the puppy text and asked where violations happened. No response again.
In the past, I had received congratulatory messages from Good Dog about the detail and clarity of listings, which reinforced thr belief that we were being helpful and compliant. So this situation was confusing. Interestingly Instead of honoring their words and giving the opportunity for us to be “ happily reinstated” - within 48 hours of sending email questions , our account was CANCELLED. Feeling hurt and will never go back to have the chance to be mistreated like that again. What do I think happened? First off Good Dog encourages breeders to turn in Buyers who try to purchase off-platform and Good Dog encourages Buyers to turn in Breeders who try to have buyers purchase off platform . I have had Buyers refuse to purchase through Good Dog due to taxes being added, commission, and charges. I actually have TURNED THOSE BUYERS A WAY, being loyal to Good Dog policies. There was one incident Christmas time , a buyer who didn’t want to purchase through the GOOD DOG platform asked if they fill out the application on my personal Website would that be fair so they could purchase directly through us, and I told them “ That is up to them to choose”. I think it’s possible that GOOD Dog might have employees who masquerade as buyers ( spies I think is the term) to see if Breeders are loyal to them. All I can do is speculate since GOOD DOG refused to provide details.

Hi Debra,
Thank you for reaching out. We're glad that a member of our team has been able to connect with you, answer your questions, and share more information about our Community Standards, Good Breeder Code of Ethics, and Policies, and how they apply to your breeding program.
As they shared with you in their communications, every breeder in our community must pass our screening process and meet or exceed our community standards before joining Good Dog. After breeders join, we have routine check-ins to ensure continued compliance with these standards and our policies.

Based on the information shared during our conversations, we determined that aspects of your program do not currently align with our platform policies. However, as our team shared with you, you are welcome to reapply in July.
We certainly appreciate the passion you have for your breeding program and the dogs in your care, and wish you the best.

The processing fee is CRIMINAL
I appreciate the website linking us up with a local breeder, and we are very happy with the breeder and our puppy, HOWEVER, a $750 processing fee, is absolutely insane, and criminal. Not only does the buyer pay for an expensive puppy, but also incurs the cost of that outrageous processing fee. INSANE
Response from Good DogJan 20, 2026
Hi Francis,
We’re so happy that you were able to find your new best friend through Good Dog!
We’re sorry to hear that you were frustrated with our optional Protection & Support fee. We’d like clarify that while this fee is entirely optional, and buyers can always choose to pay on Good Dog with 0 fees, it provides many valuable benefits that new puppy owners find helpful:
-Payment protection under our Good Dog Guarantee
-Access to veterinary and behavioral experts for lifelong support
-Professional training resources and exclusive partner discounts
-This fee also helps us maintain our high standards and continue improving our platform to help more families like yours find their perfect match.
For payments made on Good Dog through credit or debit cards, there’s an additional 3-3.5% processing fee, which is directed to our payment processor, and not to Good Dog. However, buyers can always choose to opt out of this card processing fee by paying with an ACH bank transfer.
We hope this information is helpful. Please email us at [email protected] if you have any other questions – we’d love to hear from you!

Unethical puppy mill
I got a puppy from a breeder a few months ago and although she is a sweet dog, my experience wasn't great. First, she was extremely underweight and had to go on a high-calorie diet to get back to normal. What I first thought was a mellow temperament was actually lethargy from malnutrition. She also had severe worms. Many puppies have worms but hers were so severe she was actually vomiting piles of worms and the vet said hers were so bad they were likely contracted in utero because the mom was so severely infected, meaning the care and living conditions are bad. My puppy will need deworming for a YEAR to get ahead of this. Lastly, she has severe congenital knee issues. When I told the owner they were defensive about this and it is unlikely they aren't aware they have breeding stock that has this issue.
When I emailed Good Dog they said to email the breeder, which I did and like I said they were not concerned and defensive. They initially asked NO questions about me or my home, which should have been a red flag, then after just got defensive and dismissive about my concerns. Seeing how many litters this breeder turns out, I'm 100% convinced they are a disreputable puppy mill.
If Good Dog doesn't look into concerns and breeders don't care, how exactly are they ensuring this is an ethical process? The answer is they aren't and I'd definely never use them again. It makes me sick to think that the first time I ever decided to use a breeder I inadvertently supported such a disgusting practice.

Breeders information was falsified/stolen photos
Breeders information was falsified on gooddog. The photos of the puppies were stolen on the internet. Google image AI search proved it. When I contacted the veterinarian the individual stated they used they had never taken the litter of the puppies selling to the vet. She had taken a different breed but in September 2025 when the puppies being sold were born Nov 1 2025. I contacted all the other local vets in the area and had gotten the same response. Multiple litters but none of the breed or within the date of birth of these puppies. I went through GoodDog because they allegedly vet the breeders. I caught this person in multiple lies and had enough evidence to call law enforcement for fraud and felony theft (she demanded I pay the deposit via paypal, zelle, or Venmo due to GoodDog “exorbitant” fees) Money that was returned to me. If the puppies were even real she had sold at least 2 that were picked up today at 11 weeks old and would have gotten their first shots and vet visit this morning if she even followed through with that. She claims she simply posted the photo of the wrong dog. Then it was that she accidentally sold that dog. Then she sent me videos of a similar looking dog but it was not the same one. Which she admitted she was just going to sell me that one that she had purchased as a breeder herself but legally couldn’t because of a contract. She then tried to coerce me into signing a non-disclosure document so I couldn’t speak about it to anyone before she sent my money back. I refused and gave her a deadline for the return of my money or I would call the police. She has since deleted the post for these puppies but has not corrected the false identity information. If it is not corrected by the beginning of next weekI will be turning this over to law enforcement. She has been operating this way for at least 2-3 years on good dog from what I have seen. Obviously GoodDog needs to audit their breeders. Allowing people like this to operate on their site completely undermines the companies core mission.

I Was Scammed by a Negligent, Unethical Breeder
I contacted Good Dog in regard to opening a case against a breeder that I found through Good Dog. I contacted the Good Dog support team to report the problem. They sent me an interactive form to fill out along with detailed instructions about the correct procedures to follow and documents to include in my claim. Jenny Forth, owner of World Class Class Cavaliers in Hollywood, Florida, offered me a voluntary refund when I contacted her through the Good Dog website to inform her that I had opened an investigation with Good Dog. This offer was a complete reversal from her previous attitude. It is now March 21 and I have been arguing back and forth with her since November 26. When I emailed her through the Good Dog website to inform her I would be sending a complete file of my puppy's medical records (this action is required by Good Dog, one copy for the investigation team and one copy for the breeder) she did a complete turn around. Once the refund was initiated, the investigation was halted. In my opinion, I think her sudden cooperation after so many months of stubborness indicates she is hiding something that she doesn't want the investigators to know about. They can't prosecute her legally, but they can ban her from selling through their site. She required me to sign a contract agreeing to remove a scathing Yelp review I posted about her before she would issue the refund. (This is not Good Dog's policy.) I didn't think that was fair, but I signed just because I needed the refund. I still would not trust her or recommend her. I purchased two purebred Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppies from her on November 18, 2025. They are litter mates. Both were born September 10, 2025. I noticed a week after bringing them home that one of the puppies was wheezing and coughing. She seemed to have trouble breathing. I contacted Jenny to ask if this was normal. Should I take her to the vet? Jenny brushed it off and told me not to worry about it. I told her I saw blood in the puppy's stool. She wasn't concerned about that either. I took my puppy to an urgent care vet on November 26 and was then referred to a 24 hour emergency vet and rushed there the same night. My puppy was diagnosed with pneumonia. Nothing to worry about, right? I contacted Jenny while I was on the way to the urgent care vet. She told me not to trust the vet's recommendation for antibiotics. She told me what the vet should prescribe. Not because of allergies or negative reactions or anything like that. She just said she knew what worked and what didn't. When I told the vet what she said, he asked if I really trusted her advice, given the fact that she didn't think the puppy was sick in the first place. I thought he had a valid point. If I had followed her advice, my puppy would have died. I could not submit a claim to my pet insurance provider because the policy was not active yet. I was still in the waiting period. I contacted Jenny to ask if she would reimburse me for some of the cost of the vet bills, since the puppy was obviously already sick when I got her. She took no responsibility, offered no compensation, and showed no sympathy. She said she didn't cover medical expenses. That was in the contract I signed. (I would not have signed had I known.) She seemed to have missed the whole point, that it was her responsibility to make sure the puppy was healthy before she rehomed her, especially before any money changed hands. I told her that since she didn't cooperate with me, I would be contacting Good Dog. In response, she offered to board my puppies for free, or sell me another one at a discount. I was outraged at the combination of ignorance, arrogance, and downright stupidity she displayed. Since then, my puppy has been hospitalized twice. She is now an outpatient on antibiotics. Her diagnostic tests, x-rays, hospitalizations, and treatments have cost thousands. The refund I received was not enough to make a dent in the bills. She tested positive for Bordatella, Coccicidia, and Giardia after the breeder (Jenny Forth) said she was vaccinated and dewormed. One of the vets who treated her said she was sure she was already sick when I got her. She wasn't sure she would make it. Fortunately, she did. I am still paying the debt. Jenny Forth is still allowed to sell puppies through the Good Dog website. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do to stop her. I have heard from one other person who is seriously considering a lawsuit against her after having a very similar bad experience with TWO sick puppies he purchased from her. (NOT through Good Dog.) I am sorry to say I cannot recommend Good Dog as a platform, since I don't think the Good Dog team makes enough effort to screen the breeders to ensure they adhere to ethical standards.

Buyer beware
Honestly, I wouldn't give them 1 star! I too thought I was having a positive experience and was getting really excited to meet my new puppy next week. When you request information about a dog, this allows you to have communication with the breeder. What I didn't know is that once I told "her" I was going to take the puppy, "she" cancelled the transaction with Good Dog, so I never saw that they had their own payment method and I made the mistake of paying the "breeder". We had, what I now know was fake text messages, for the next 2 weeks. They were all really positive which didn't make me think I was being scammed until "she" stopped responding. That fake breeders website is now down, Good Dog has dropped them, and I am out a puppy I had fallen in love with along with $4000. I was trying to work on getting a resolution from the company and they told me, "they wish they could do more for me and hope that I hear from the breeder" Absolutely insulting. They want you to believe they have these high ethical standards in screening potential breeders, obviously this is not true and they have cost me a lot. I fell in love with a puppy that didn't exist. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.
In response to the Good Dog's response, that never happened because I wasn't working with a breeder. It was 100% a scam and that breeder didn't exist which I didn't know until 3 weeks later. Once I told the scammers I was taking the puppy, they closed the case with Good Dog and they dealt with me directly. I knew nothing of this payment method until after the fact because at no time was there a link or way for me to pay through GD. It makes no sense that I wouldn't do that if I were given that opportunity or was made aware.

False Advertising - “Protection & Support” Not Honored, Breeders Not Actually Vetted
TL;DR: Don’t trust GoodDog’s breeder vetting or their “Protection & Support” coverage. They denied my valid claim in violation of their own policy and their “vetted” breeder sold me a severely ill puppy.
WHAT HAPPENED:
Purchased puppy through GoodDog for $4,883 (including $175 “Protection & Support”). Puppy arrived with multiple undisclosed parasitic infections documented by licensed veterinarian within 10 days.
THEIR “VETTING” FAILED:
The breeder GoodDog approved:
• Had recurring facility hookworm problems (breeder admitted this)
• Only tested 2 of 8 puppies for parasites
• Provided falsified health records (no dosages, altered dates)
• Sold multiple puppies with parasitic infections
• Made different health claims about same puppy to different buyers
THEIR “PROTECTION & SUPPORT” IS A SCAM:
Filed claim with complete documentation meeting ALL policy requirements. GoodDog denied with response containing provable errors:
• Wrong name for my wife
• Referenced vet records I never received
• Made false medical claims contradicting licensed veterinarian
• Ignored documented parasitic infections entirely
POLICY VIOLATION:
Their policy explicitly covers “breach of baseline care standards: failure to provide pre-placement veterinary examination.”
They referenced examination records in their denial that were never provided to me - proving the breach occurred. Yet they still denied coverage.
WHAT THIS COST ME:
• Purchase: $4,883
• Veterinary: $709
• Sanitation (zoonotic infection, high-risk kids): $1,663
• Total: $7,256+ and rising
ACTIONS TAKEN:
• FTC complaint filed
• State AG complaints filed (NC & MS)
• Credit card dispute in progress
• Consulting attorneys
GOODDOG’S RESPONSE: Radio silence to evidence their denial violates their own policy.
WARNING: Don’t rely on their breeder vetting or buyer protection. You’re completely on your own despite their marketing claims.

Hi Drew,
We're truly sorry you've had a difficult experience.
Although we’ve been working with you directly since you first contacted us in early November, we want to ensure you understand that we’ve conducted a thorough review of your situation based on all information available to us.
Our review included your breeder's pre-placement veterinary examination and fecal test results, which showed your puppy's litter was in seemingly good health before leaving your breeder's care. We also reviewed all veterinary documentation you provided and communications shared between you and your breeder.
Based on this review, a resolution was offered to you that is fully in line with Good Dog's policies and protections. It is our understanding that you have chosen not to move forward with that resolution, but we continue to encourage you to work directly with your breeder should you change your mind. If you believe the resolution offered is not being honored, please contact us immediately and we will assist.
