We bought a Biewer Terrier from Hearts n Paws, the breeder is Kim Carson. I would say this is my worst experience ever. We bought the puppy with breeding rights. However, our vet found our puppy only has one testicle and the other one is retained. We told Kim this situation and wanted to discuss with her how to address this issue. Based on our contract, if the puppy cannot be used to breed, she should refund us the breeding right fee. However, she was so upset and did not come up with any solution. She didn't even feel sorry for our puppy. She should apologize because she is the breeder. Personally, I don't think she is a responsible breeder. A breeder should breed healthy puppies. A breeder shouldn't sell puppies with breeding rights if their puppy cannot be used to breed.

DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE!!!
DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE!!!! They just took $2800 out of my account randomly when I am NOT getting a puppy from them. My boyfriend and I were looking into getting a puppy about a month ago and put down a deposit. We then canceled on getting the puppy because it was not the right time for us and good dog took the money out of my account anyway. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR CARD INFORMATION!!! PLEASE!!! I am in a terrible mess with my bank now thanks to good dog.

Pick and Choose
I was a member of Good Dog for 2 years. All of a sudden they locked my account because I have dogs below AKC standard, while allowing numerous Imperial breeders to remain. Also, they promote mixed breeds with breeding practices of large breeds breeding with tinies. Also they are not promoting other standards of the breed (for instance the dogs have giant snouts on a flat faced breed). I have been breeding for 24 years and I would not compromise my babies health. It’s all a gimmick they do not ask for proof of health from a veterinarian nor do they see any of your dogs like AKC inspectors do or veterinarians do. I am in good standing with both.

Hi Taylor,
We understand that our Health and Screening Lead and our Head of Health, Standards & Research were already able to connect with you over the phone and via email regarding our Code of Ethics and Community Standards, and how they may apply to an individual breeding program.
As they mentioned, all programs that are recognized on Good Dog must meet our Community Standards and Code of Ethics, which you can review here: https://www.gooddog.com/standards-and-screening

We hope this answers any remaining questions you might have.

Terrible company
Terrible company, would never ever recommend! They allow breeders to scam you. Your money is not secured! A breeder literally scammed me out of 500 dollars and they didnt do anything about it. The breeder even said they wouldnt and couldnt do anything to her regarding my refund. Be aware of UPSTATE KENNELS LLC (864) 402-4948
True scammers they are broke and hungry for your money. These animals are not healthy and are not what you want. They’ve had pups die a lot there all sorts of crap this lady told me. Then after several months passed and no pup still I requested a refund and she said she would send all back since she was at fault in multiple occasions then that’s where all the hassle and drama started. The b* would not give me my money back she kept asking me for more time I accommodated her like 4 times for extra time now this last time she went ghost and not saying a word. Im on process of contacting good dog again and notify them on my attorney follow up.
Please save your time energy and money.

A Platform for Irresponsible, Rude and Unprofessional Breeders
If you want to go through an emotionally traumatic experience, adopt a puppy from Good Dog. I was looking for a Basset Hound and found a breeder (Missy’s CKC Registered Basset Hounds in Tennessee specifically). I applied and was surprised my application immediately got accepted, considering most breeders prefer that you live in a house, not an apartment. We discussed the pickup date, payment, and she even sent me multiple photos of my puppy.
The first red flag was the fact that she gave me a puppy at just 6 weeks old. I did not realize this until picking him up and looking at his records to see his actual birthday. This obviously is too early to be separated from the mother and goes against Good Dog’s 7 week policy, as well.
The second red flag, which unfortunately I was too naive to catch, was that she wanted payment through Paypal as a “friends and family” transaction.
Everything seemed to be going smoothly until I had my first night with my new puppy. I soon realized I did not have the time to keep a puppy on a consistent schedule, and an apartment was not fit for him either. This was my fault, as I rushed into a big decision without enough careful thought.
I was in love with my puppy, and it broke my heart to have to find him a new home. However, I wanted what was best for him too. The first step I took was to reach out to Missy and explain the situation. I apologized and asked for her to either help me list him or take him back. She failed to respond for multiple days. Once she did, she avoided the actual question and never helped me until I said that she needed to help me or I would be reaching out to Good Dog. Good Dog’s policy also states that the breeder is obligated to help with rehoming and must take the puppy back.
She soon responded and became very aggressive. She insisted that I had no idea what I was talking about and denied doing anything wrong. She also said her hands were tied and she couldn’t take the puppy back. Apparently, she had used all of the money to make a payment on her truck. Her only “help” was telling me to reach out to friends and family.
Meanwhile, I had been meeting with several families to see if I could find a good fit for my puppy, as the breeder was zero help to me. I finally found a family who was the perfect fit for him; however, I still lost all of my money. I finally reached out to Good Dog and explained the breeder’s rude and unprofessional attitude, all of the policies she had broken and asked for at least a partial refund. They did not seem to care and denied the refund. They also asked me to send them screenshots of the messages between the breeder and I so they could investigate further. They never did anything about it when I did send them all of our messages, and they just sent back an automated response. Good Dog has policies that aren’t taken seriously, nor do they care when those policies are broken. It is a platform for rude and irresponsible breeders.

Good Dog is a joke and liars
I use to love and support Good Dog but just recently I got an email that they were deleting my program because I have bred my color females with a Merle. All health tested and proven. They didn’t have a policy on Merle’s when I joined 4-5 years ago, I even asked and was told no they allowed them and I was fine. They say they do not recognize Bulldog Merles but they recognize mutts!!! What a joke!!! I have advertised and promoted them and also got over 10 breeders to join and this is how they treat their big helping ethical breeders.
