I am a breeder and my recommendation is to choose another platform to market your puppies. The team lacks good customer service. I have my dogs listed on other platforms such as AKC and Puppy Spot. This platform has by far the worst communication. They make decisions without even talking to the breeders or clarifying. Their policies are obscure and will absolutely ban you arbitrarily without even checking the circumstances. Getting their compliance department on the phone is NOT possible. Please read their policies carefully they will take down a listing without any explanation or opportunity for you to explain. WORST WEBSITE I Have ever dealt with in terms of customer service from a breeders stand point.

Hi there,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We take concerns like this seriously, and we're sorry this hasn't been a positive experience for you.
We'd like the chance to look into what happened, but we aren't able to find a Good Dog account associated with the details provided in this review. We'd genuinely welcome the opportunity to connect, understand your situation, and see how we can help — please reach out to our team directly at [email protected]. Supporting the breeders in our community is important to us, and we'd love the opportunity to do that for you.

Breeders not well vetted
I joined Good Dog because I believed the platform carefully screened its breeders and that this would provide a higher level of professionalism, transparency and accountability than searching for a dog through ordinary online listings.
Unfortunately, my experience with breeders I have encountered through Good Dog has been extremely disappointing.
I traveled from Colorado to South Carolina specifically to meet an adult Labrador after extensive conversations with the breeder about the temperament I was looking for. I was repeatedly told the dog was well socialized, loved people and was affectionate. When I arrived, the dog I met was extremely fearful, cowering, avoiding eye contact and uncomfortable interacting with unfamiliar people. This was temperament information I absolutely would have wanted before spending thousands of dollars and traveling across the country.
I subsequently communicated with another Good Dog breeder about an adult Labrador. There were lengthy discussions about the dog’s price, including pressure around availability and a deposit before I had even met the dog. We ultimately scheduled an appointment to meet at the breeder’s home. We arrived at the confirmed time, knocked and waited approximately 15 minutes. No one answered the door or contacted us, so we left. The breeder finally appeared after we were already gone.
These experiences have left me seriously questioning what Good Dog’s breeder screening and approval process actually guarantees a prospective buyer. A polished profile, health-testing information and positive reviews are useful, but they do not necessarily tell you how accurately a breeder represents a dog’s temperament or how professionally that breeder will conduct themselves.
I strongly recommend that anyone using Good Dog do their own extensive due diligence, meet an adult dog in person before paying a deposit whenever possible, and not assume that being approved by Good Dog is, by itself, an assurance of the experience you will have with a breeder.

Hi Ruth,
Thank you for taking the time to share this. We're sorry these experiences fell short of what you were expecting, and we understand how disheartening that is after traveling so far and investing so much in the search.
Every breeder in our community must pass our screening process and meet our community standards before joining Good Dog. After a breeder joins, we conduct routine check-ins to ensure continued compliance with these standards.
We understand the breeder you traveled to meet shared that with adult dogs there can often be an adjustment period, as they take time to become comfortable with new people and a new routine.
That said, our team would love to better support you on your search to finding your new best friend. Please reach out to us anytime at [email protected] so we can learn more about what you're looking for and recommend breeders who might be a better fit.
Warmly,
The Good Dog Team

Boxer Breeders Cruelty.
All the boxer breeders I have found on this group so far, use rubber bands to make the puppies tails fall off. This practice is widely considered by all experts, to be cruel and inhumane. In many places, these breeders could be prosecuted for animal cruelty. It is what dog breeders do to turn the biggest profit possible. Please do your research. These are 100% puppy mills.

Hi Kimberly,
Thank you for taking the time to share this. The health and welfare of dogs is at the heart of what we do, and we hold the breeders on our platform to standards built around protecting it. We also take concerns like yours seriously and look into them whenever they're raised. If there's a specific breeder or situation you're worried about, please reach out to us at [email protected].

raising puppies fifteen years but ....
I have been raising puppies for fifteen years. And I have never been scammed. But now good dog wants to charge more for advertising than any other platform in the industry. And claim they're protecting us from scammers.
They demonetize small breeders. Basically, if you don't sell a large percentage of dogs on their platform, they put your listings lower in the ranking. So fewer people see them.
They force you to make all of your dogs health.Testing public. In this day and age were the behavior of a real scammer is simply to steal your data. I have already seen people.Steal my dog's information and register a fake litter to my dog because of information that was only available on good dog. If you don't post your dog's health. Testing and private information publicly. You can't be competitive on this site. They should allow us to file it with them.So they know we have it, and they can confidently say the dog's testing is verified, but not force us to post it publicly in order to be competitive.
Somehow, they are developing a monopoly over all other advertising sites. i'm sorry, but give me back good old fashioned puppyfind, . We the people can look out for ourselves.
Nobody is incentivizing me.This is my personal opinion

Hi Thecla,
Thank you for sharing this, and for the fifteen years you've put into raising healthy puppies. That experience and care are exactly what we want buyers to be able to find on Good Dog.
When breeders share their dogs' health test files and links directly on their profile, we're finding new ways to educate the public, improve canine health and well-being, and provide transparency to puppy buyers. We completely understand not wanting to expose private details, our team is always happy to help you block out sensitive information, so you can still share your test files while protecting anything personal. Just reach out anytime and we'll walk through it with you.
Good Dog invests significantly in marketing so we can reliably bring you buyers for your litters. Because you only pay our advertising fee when a payment from a Good Dog buyer is successfully completed, there are no upfront costs just to list your litter. It’s important to us that you don't pay anything until the buyers we send you lead to a successful placement.
If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us anytime by emailing [email protected]
Warmly,
The Good Dog Team

All for the buyer
There site clearly says there not liable! then breeder just wantsto text and when i did get a call good dog blocks breeders cell number. Your expected to leave money on a picture of a dog like your buying shoes. then towards the end the website is automated and keeps trying you to pay balance. you would have to be an idiot to pay the freight on something you havent seen and the breeder hides behind this site. No real animal lover would trust this site . So stay away go find a real breeder!

Hi Eddie,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We’d love to take a moment to share more about how our platform works to connect interested puppy buyers with our community of responsible breeders.
Every breeder in our community must pass our screening process and meet our community standards, including our Breeder Code of Ethics and minimum health testing requirements, before joining Good Dog.
On Good Dog, interested buyers and breeders can get to know each other as they find the right fit. Good Dog routes calls and texts through a Good Dog number to protect the privacy of both buyers and breeders — you're still connecting directly with the breeder, and you can video call them through Messenger to meet the puppy live before you commit to anything. Deposits and payment terms are always set by the breeder, not by us, and you're never obligated to send money before you're comfortable.
Our Care team would love to connect with you to learn more about your experience, and see how we can help. Please reach out to us anytime at [email protected] or 855-446-6336.
Warmly,
The Good Dog Team

am a preservation breeder who uses…
am a preservation breeder who uses gooddog.
I hate it. But its the only site that people are using..they take a 6.5% cut from payment, so on a 2,000 pup, they take $130. EVERY SINGLE PUPPY.
That's extremely high. Then they hit my CLIENTS for another 3% average.
I breed fully OFA health tested champion parents and yes, I must post the test results for each parent.
They have now gone to AI on their communications between clients and breeders. So when you or I click to call each other, the call is filtered through a call relay center. My call doesn't show my number on your caller ID. Your number shows an Indiana phone number on my caller ID. The call center is from Indiana.
Why?
Because if you communicate off their site, the clients will offer to pay cash. Not go through the payment system and they don't get to gouge the breeder.
So if they make it to where you don't know each other's numbers, you're stuck. I wouldn't be surprised if the AI call center is programed to pick up buzz words, and gooddog notified on calls where cash is discussed and alternative phone numbers are given. Then they drop your exposure rate to 50%..I do know they monitor your messages..
When I first signed up, they heavily emphasized that BREEDERS NEVER PAY A FEE..
So now they got us, and 2 years ago, started the 6.5% fee..an ad on AKC Marketplace is $45 to advertise the entire litter.
Legitimate breeders like myself are furious, the BYB and puppy mills don't care because they're selling puppies.they just mass produce more puppies to make up for it.
AKC marketplace is full of foreign scammers so the buyers are scared to use it. Same with puppies.com
.
BYB paradise.
.
Luckily 2/3 of my puppies sell through private referals so I only have to sell a few on gooddog, I write the fees off my taxes..
I've been breeding my chosen breed since 2004. I'm probably going to stop breeding soon because of this nonsense..

Thank you for taking the time to share this, and for the work you've put into your breeding program.
Calling through Good Dog allows you to connect with and get to know potential buyers, while keeping your personal number and theirs private. Keeping conversations on our platform protects your privacy and your buyers, maintains a clear record, and ensures our built-in protections can work as intended. It also allows our team to step in and support you if something doesn’t go as expected.
The buyers Good Dog brings you are the result of meaningful marketing investment, which our deduction directly supports. That investment is what allows us to keep connecting breeders like you with quality families looking to bring home a puppy. To support this work, a small deduction is only applied when we do the work of successfully connecting breeders with qualified buyers they'd like to place a puppy with. This helps us maintain our platform quality and continue bringing breeders loving homes for their pups.
Based on the details in your review, we weren't able to find a matching Good Dog account in our records. We'd love the chance to connect with you about this feedback, and ensure you continue to feel supported by our platform. Please reach out to us anytime at [email protected].

Incredibly Disappointing Experience
An incredibly disappointing experience. Having connected with a recommended Breeder via the Good Dog website, we agreed a contract for delivery of a puppy to the UK. I duly paid a deposit of $1,500 directly to the Breeder. However, despite sending images and videos of the puppy for five months, she failed to deliver it and then refused to answer calls or emails. Having reported this to Good Dog, they acknowledged receipt, but have failed to communicate further with details of any action taken. Very poor customer care indeed.

Hi George,
Thank you for reaching out, and we're sorry to hear about this experience.
When breeders and buyers connect on Good Dog, they agree to make their payments through our platform, and every buyer is made aware of this before submitting an application to a breeder. This On-Platform Payment Policy is central to how we keep our community safe.
Because this payment was completed outside of Good Dog, we have no visibility into or control over the transaction itself, and we're unable to assist in recovering funds sent privately to a breeder.
The concerns you've raised about this breeder are something we take seriously. Our team has connected with you and is reviewing this situation.
We truly wish you the best.
Warmly,
The Good Dog Team

I was in contact with Bonnie from…
I was in contact with Bonnie from Bejays's Corgis. After many months of waiting, by dog did not materialize. I have a feeling that Bonnie may have over-promised puppies. I had requested a male, fluffy with a tail and was assured this could be provided to me...ah, not so much... my $200 deposit is gone. I have moved on with another reputable breeder that I respect. Fluffy male with a tail was no problem!

While we’re sorry to hear about your experience, we understand that you did not use Good Dog to connect or work with this breeder.
We wish you nothing but the best.
