I reserved a dog to later find out that…
I reserved a dog to later find out that it's the WRONG DOG
I reserved a dog to later find out that the breeder reserved the WRONG dog and wouldn't give me a refund. I had sent over 1000$ by the time I noticed that she was sending pictures of the wrong puppy. She let me know that the puppy that I reserved, which was literally on her site and posted, had actually passed away shortly after birth. Good Dog got involved and their resolution was that the breeder and I come to a resolution..... how great and not helpful whatsoever. The point of reaching out and escalating to the company was to come to a resolution. It was POINTLESS reaching out to them.
I went through my bank and reported this.
All in all, do NOT NOT NOT NOT go through Good Dog. This breeder specifically seemed irresponsible. She was most communicative when asking for money(red flag). If you don't meet the actual puppy IN PERSON, sign a binding contract IN PERSON then do NOT get a puppy from here.
UPDATE TO GOOD DOG'S RESPONSE:
I spoke with the representative on 9/7 and she was the one that advised that I "come to a resolution" with the breeder. Good Dog uses their customer service email under the guise that it will actually solve the issue at hand. I strongly recommend that buyers NOT purchase dogs through Good Dog as you are NOT PROTECTED under their policies. Go to a breeder in person. Spare yourself the back and forth e-mails with no resolutions and the non-refundable deposits if something out of your control goes wrong.

I can’t believe that good dog would…
I can’t believe that good dog would even say the have trusted and has protector stories. They allow breeders to rip off the people who are purchasing dogs from them. The buyers are not protected. They allowed a breeder to scam me.

Hi Wendy,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re glad that our team was able to work with you and the breeder to reach a resolution. As they clarified with you, in accordance with the breeder's contract, the deposit you completed was non-refundable, although we’re happy to hear that the breeder did agree to refund your other payments.
At Good Dog, each breeder sets their own individual policies with buyers, especially around whether a payment is refundable or non-refundable. We encourage puppy buyers to choose a breeder whose policies align with what they feel most comfortable with, because we do honor the policies that a breeder and buyer agree to.
We hope this helps answer your questions related to the non-refundable deposit you completed. Please feel free to reach out to us if there is anything we can do to help, or if you have any questions or concerns.
Warmly,
The Good Dog Team

Terrible experience for me
Just starting out as a breeder. Went through the application process and spent considerable time developing my dashboard. I found the representative of the company to be unreasonable. Pretty upsetting. After my experience, I can't imagine doing business with them.
UPDATE: The response from Good Dog to a deservedly poor review is a carefully crafted promotional piece. I'm not surprised. If only they had spent that energy on understanding and addressing the needs of me as a breeder.

Hi Mike,
Thank you for reaching out. We’re glad that a member of our team was able to connect with you and share more information about our Community Standards, Good Breeder Code of Ethics, and Policies, and how they may apply to an individual breeding program. You can read more here:
-https://www.gooddog.com/breeder-code-of-ethics
-https://www.gooddog.com/good-breeder-center/good-dog-article-toc#good-dog-policies
Every breeder in our community goes through our screening process and must meet or exceed our community standards, including our Breeder Code of Ethics and our minimum health testing requirements, before joining Good Dog. Unfortunately, we were not able to move your program forward in our screening process at this time, as your dogs have not yet had their health clearances.
We understand that our team was also able to share with you the necessary documentation we’d need in order to re-evaluate your program. Should things change, please reach out to us and we’d be happy to re-evaluate at that time.
We understand that not everyone will agree with our approach, but we know that you, as a dog breeder, are working very hard and that you have a breeding program to be proud of. We continue to wish you all the best.
Kind Regards,
Good Dog Team
DO NOT BUY a puppy through this breeder. Ms. Abbott delivered the puppy to me with a pre-existing level IV medial patellar displacement. Her limping and inability to bear weight on her hind leg was very apparent. The knee is not where it should be, it’s completely displaced and will require surgery so she can use the leg. Her femur bone is also shorter on this leg due to the knee being displaced and the bones not growing properly. Meaning this was an ongoing issue that the breeder failed to acknowledge or address. Ms. Abbott handed the puppy over to me in this condition. Ms. Abbott denied any knowledge of it and blamed it on roughhousing with the other puppies. I've tried discussing this with her and she refuses to take any accountability or contribute anything towards her medical care.
The surgeon said this is going to be a difficult surgery due to the severity of it and there’s a chance it could fail so a second surgery may be required. Each surgery is $2,900 to $3,200. That doesn’t include the X-rays and pain meds she’ll be on until she can have the surgery at 6 months of age. I’ve only had my puppy, Thumbelina for 2 weeks and between her fee of $3,000 plus surgery and medical bills I’m looking at a cost of approx. $6,400 or more. The future is unknown.
According to the breeders vet records there was a second puppy that was examined with Thumbelina that had a luxating patella and a hernia. I'm still wondering what happened to this puppy. Genetics play a significant role with dogs having a luxating or displaced patella. Shelly Abbott should not be breeding her Chins over and over for pure profit and should care more about the health of her dogs and future generations of offspring…. This has been a difficult and emotional experience that I don't want anyone else to go through.
Reply to Goodfog.com. The breeder insist on using Venmo for payments so she is not following gooddog.com’s requirements. I would have gladly paid through the website and paid a fee and receive protection through the site.

Hi Kimberly,
Thank you for reaching out. We’re sorry to hear of your dog’s medical needs.
We understand that you did not complete any transactions to this breeder via Good Dog’s secure payment system. Payments occurring outside of the Good Dog platform are not protected and we cannot offer any support or assistance. Good Dog does offer Protection & Support as an option so that buyers are backed by the Good Dog Guarantee, but this is something you can only opt-in to when making a payment to a breeder on the Good Dog platform.
We take enforcement of our standards incredibly seriously and have a process in place in which we conduct an independent investigation of all complaints. After reviewing all documentation provided, it was determined that the breeder is in compliance with our Community Standards & abiding by the terms agreed to in their contract at this time.
We are sorry to hear of your pup’s veterinary needs, but are glad to hear about the dedicated care you are providing. We hope this answers any remaining questions you may have.

Beware of this breeder
I have been dealing with the owner Paula of paulasillydogs. Breeder of dachshunds. We purchased two dachshunds from her. She assured us that she would honor, that if you buy a dachshund from her and something happens to the puppy in the first year she would replace the puppy with another one. So, I finally got my dachshund had her 1 week she got sick and we took her to the emergency clinic where she was diagnosed with brain seizures and died after spending 1,000 at the clinic. After spending 2,000 for the puppy and emergency clinic. I have NOTHING to show for it. After talking to Paula about what had happened and would she honor giving us another puppy. She deleted everything about everything we have ever discussed. She is not the God given person that she puts out to be. Please beware of this person she is fake and her dogs are not healthy.

Shih Tzu Heaven
We recently purchased a shih tzu from shih tzu heaven off their website. For a month the breeder sent us pics and “updates”. The week before he came home she said he was going to the vet that week in preparation. At pickup, after we’ve paid in full, she tells us she did not take him to the vet and that due to her experience as a breeder she can tell he has a hernia. Then goes on to tell us if we don’t want him or want another puppy she can do that. She noticed at 5 weeks the hernia and not only failed to tell us, she also didn’t take the poor pup for a check up. Her website states the puppy will come with vaccination and a wellness exam. We are grateful for our pup but with the added cost I wish we would have been warned about this breeder.

I got denied over a 10 month old puppy…
I got denied over a 10 month old puppy all because I don't have other dogs but yet this breeder said oh but you are approved for a 1k puppy that is the same breed? You got to be kidding me. This is the worst site that y'all can allow this type of behavior. I do not recommend this site. The breeder's name is Italy.
