Some good, some bad
On the negative side: The website and the back-end email support team. Just a disaster here. At least when trying to complete a transaction as a guest. Perhaps it would have gone better if I created an account. But as it was, I was trying to check out as a guest and that didn't work at all. Every time I reached the point of specifying how I was going to pay, I'd click 'Submit' on that page and the site would do nothing but load that page again. I tried this on multiple machines and using multiple different browsers. Always the same thing. Upon emailing the back-end support people in Australia, they were mostly unresponsive and in what response I did get, they didn't know what was going on. At one point, I was told that my emails were getting routed into their spam folder by the company's email handler, explaining the lack of responses. But it's my normal email that I use to communicate with everyone and I'm not a seller of anything, so even if my emails were being so routed, that's still on their tech set up. A business needs to be darned sure it is receiving its customers' communications. All in all, the tech side of the company's operation was very, very disappointing. On the positive side: The human call center customer support guy in Oregon was great. Extremely helpful. He couldn't fix the tech/website issues, of course, but he was at least able to serve as a useful intermediary between the back end guys and me. Eventually, the order went in by my just typing out a detailed email exactly describing the order I was trying to place and sending it to the Oregon guy's personal email address. Again, he was great; he was able to get it submitted for processing from there. Once the order finally got in, the processing and the shipment of the goggles to me was *very* prompt. Also, with regard to the actual product, the goggles I ordered are exactly as advertised in appearance. The prescription lenses ordered are also perfect and correct my daughter's vision just as well as her regular glasses do. In acknowledgment of my ordeal trying to get the order in, they also threw in some anti-fog wipes for free (although I've never found those to work very well before and they still didn't work well this time; I just use the dish soap method before my daughter goes out onto the ice and that seems much more effective). The case for the goggles is very nice and there were different elastic band options included as well, which is quite helpful. In-between: It would have been nice if the frames were a bit more durable; we cracked the bottom of the left lens opening. The specific stress event that cracked certainly wasn't part of typical usage, so I cannot absolve myself of blame and put it totally on the product here. But it would have been nice if they had been sturdy enough to handle that without the crack. In any event, I've done the old "baking soda and super glue" patch job on the crack and so far, that's working fine to hold the lens in place.
