Excellent product and craftsmanship
I was wary about trusting an online company to construct my necessary prescription glasses. However, I was getting really annoyed with spending upwards of $700 for prescription glasses in the retail market. A friend recommended I try Global Eyeglasses because she used them and she said her experience was great. Based on her experience, I decided to take the plunge. I purchased three pairs of frames and I was very impressed. First, the frames I bought were exactly as pictured on the website. Thus, when deciding what frames to buy, go by what is in the pictures for color and general style. For example, the pair of sunglasses I bought said white in the description. The glasses as pictured looked off-white/cream, and that's the color that they were when received. Thus, go off of the pictures when selecting frames, and not off the description. One should take note that while the prices are cheap, the site does not appear to be a "discount" eyewear retailer. They are not selling super-highend frames for significantly lower prices. The frames are priced to represent the make and quality. Thus, if you are buying a pair of $20 frames, the general construction of the frames themselves will be comensurate with that price point. That is not to say that $20 frames are poorly constructed or ugly. It simply means that you wont be getting a pair of designer frames. To give an example, the sunglasses I bought were $20. The frames were actually H&M brand glasses that they, presumably, took the original lenses out of and replaced with my prescription lenses. For $20 they are great, but they are H&M frames. So just be aware that the pricepoint of frames represents the quality of the frames. I ordered two pairs of regular prescription glasses from Global as well. Both were exceptional in quality and craftsman ship. The prescription in the lenses was dead-on correct. No blurred vision, no blemishes or scratches on the lenses. It was as if I bought them from a regular optical shop. One pair I bought was the Jayden in transparent color. They are a rimless pair of glasses, with the arms attached to the lenses with only a couple small screws. I've owned $800+ Silhouette brand frames in the past and I am happy to say that these glasses, at $70, were equal in construction and durability. The craftsmanship and quality was and still is exceptional. I also purchased a the Woodie in red color. I bought them because they were discounted heavily, and I wanted a "cheap" pair of glasses to wear during more rigorous activity (yard work, etc.). Thus, if they broke, I wouldn't care. They are my favorite of the three. The craftsmanship of the lenses, as well as the durability of the frame are excellent and well beyond what one would expect for $15. The only issue I encountered with the company was with the customer service. I contacted customer service a few times to check up on the construction of my frames. Unfortunately, the CS Reps were not able to give me the accurate information I was seeking with regard to length of time it would take to complete the glasses, when they would be shipped, or what was causing any delay. I don't think this was due to incompetent CS reps, but rather due to a lack of consistent communication between the lab and the main office. Thus, whenever I asked about my frames, I only received general answers to my questions, "they will take a few more days" or "the lab is running behind." I was looking for a more accurate assessment of when my frames would be complete in number of days, etc.. To be clear, this was a very minor issue for me which is why I did not lower my score for Global. The reps were always very kind and apologetic when I addressed any concerns. One last thing to note, I received my frames three weeks after I placed my order. Thus, it does take some time to get them. I was under the impression, based on what I read on the website, that frames were delivered ten days after ordering them. Again, I wouldn't lower my score for this reason, because glasses should be meticulously crafted, and I wouldn't want prescription glasses being quickly made in order to meet some arbitrary deadline. I didn't mind them taking the extra time to make me a good pair of glasses. However, one should note that it is likely they mean 10 days after completion of the frames, and not 10 days from the order. Again, the issues I described above were not of any real concern because I don't think they were major flaws in the company, and especially because they delivered such great final products to me. I was so thrilled, I actually bought a new pair, the Daniel in brown. I am waiting for those and very excited to receive them. If they are as well manufactured as my other three, I would rate them highly once again. One last item to note. If you Google Global, there are some websites where people have made some complaints against the company. Based on my experience, I think those comments should be disregarded, or taken with a grain of salt at the very least. I noticed the comments were from several years back. Thus, I believe the company has evolved since then and really tightened its policies and procedures. So yes, based on my experience, I would recommend them highly if you are looking for well-made glasses for great prices. I was not disappointed in the least.
