⚠️ WARNING DO NOT GO HERE
⚠️ WARNING — DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS PLACE! I dropped my car off at Gerber Collision on July 6, 2026 after an accident. I was initially given an estimate of nearly $12,000 for the repairs, and I was told my vehicle was expected to be completed by July 31, 2026. From there, everything went downhill. For weeks, I received little to no communication from Gerber. I repeatedly had to call to get updates, and there were times they wouldn't even answer the phone. I was calling almost every other week and eventually had to show up in person just to get information about my own vehicle. Every time I asked what was going on, I was told essentially the same thing: “It's a big repair, and it's going to take longer than expected.” The completion date kept getting pushed back. The biggest problem was that I was documenting the progress of my vehicle with pictures. On multiple occasions, I would come back weeks later and my car appeared to be in virtually the same condition it had been in during my previous visit. Meanwhile, I was being told that work was being done and that things were progressing. Eventually, nearly two months had passed, and I still didn't have my car. At that point, I was told that a part was on backorder. The manager, Shane, eventually stepped in and apologized, acknowledging that the repair had taken far too long and saying that it never should have gotten to this point. He told me they were going to get everything taken care of and repeatedly talked about getting me a rental during this process. Despite those conversations, I never received a rental and I never received consistent updates. I had to constantly chase Gerber for information about my own vehicle. Another major concern was that the repair estimate seemed to keep changing. Every time I dealt with Gerber, there seemed to be something else that hadn't been identified during the original inspection. The estimate went from nearly $12,000 to over $18,000 during the roughly three months they had my vehicle. Then Shane told me my car was finally being repaired and would be ready within about a week. The following week, GEICO contacted me and told me my vehicle had been totaled. That's right. After having my car for roughly three months, repeatedly telling me the vehicle was being repaired and would soon be ready, Gerber didn't even contact me themselves to explain what was happening. I had to find out from my insurance company. When I went to Gerber to retrieve my belongings, I also discovered that my car wouldn't start. Apparently, something had been done that caused the battery to run down. I stood in the parking lot for over an hour and a half while multiple technicians attempted to get the vehicle started. At that point, I had completely lost confidence in this establishment. This entire experience was incredibly frustrating. The lack of communication, constantly changing repair timeline, constantly changing estimate, and the fact that I repeatedly had to chase them down for basic information made this one of the worst experiences I've ever had dealing with a repair shop. I understand that complicated repairs can take time. What I don't understand is the complete lack of communication and being repeatedly told that my vehicle was being repaired when the situation ultimately ended with my insurance company totaling it. If you care about your vehicle, I strongly recommend taking it somewhere else. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. I REPEAT — DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE.
