Having recently moved back to California and struggling financially, my family and I are getting snap and medical benefits. Phones are very expensive so we thought getting help would be wonderful. We had just bought groceries with our snap card at a Walmart in Morgan Hill when we passed a table with a gentleman offering these phones. He said, this will only take 5 minutes. 45 minutes later with our food on the verge of perishing we were denied. Even though we had all our information required we were denied because we haven't been able to afford getting California licenses. So I guess even though California recognized us enough to get benefits, this company doesn't really help those on medi-cal or snap. I am upset for a waste of time and discrimination. I am even considering a law suit as well

We’re sorry to hear about your experience. Eligibility for Lifeline service is determined by federal and state program rules. As part of the enrollment process, we verify Lifeline eligibility and identity for security reasons. It does not need to be a state license, but a valid form of identification is needed to confirm identity and residency. We understand this can be frustrating and we hope you’re able to reapply with all the necessary documents to complete your application. You can also apply online anytime at genmobile.com/lifeline

We’re sorry for the delays and issues you’ve experienced. If you applied for Lifeline service, please note that approval is based on federal program eligibility, which can sometimes take extra time. If you are having issues with a current shipment, email [email protected] with your name, phone number, or account number so we can review and make sure we get you everything you need to get the service working. Thank you for your patience.

The phone is horrible. The man (Webb Conroy or Conroy Webb, if he used his real name) who conned me into getting it lied to me (I had several witnesses who heard that) to get the phone, so I assume he was working on commission. Then, when I finally got the phone ready to go after having to go buy a special SIM card of which I was not made aware that I would need to keep my previous number. I could hear fine, but the person I was talking to couldn't hear me. I called that man back, and he was of no help. Wouldn't trade me out a phone after only having the broken one for 4 days. I called your customer service, which is a joke. They were of no help at all, and then expected ME to pay to send your defective phone back at my cost before receiving a new one. I am ill and have many doctors' and medical calls, and need a phone quickly. But, that didn't matter, it would take, if lucky, almost a month to get a working phone back. I would NEVER, EVER, use this company.

My account canceled without any notice or explanation. When I called customer service, the only thing they said was, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I don't know why it was canceled, but unfortunately we can't activate it. So now, since everyone who had the phone number for me and all the places that had the number for verification, I have ti somehow update with them. And I can't transfer the number to another carrier. So, in the interim, no one can contact me.

Practically nonexistent customer service. I called to activate my phone. A week later I had to call back, because I could not place or take a call could not use any data. Another week after, I had to call back again to find out they had not activated the phone properly. Even the people who were supposed to fix the problem did not realize that the phone was not activated. They did not try calling my number. They did not send me an email as rep said they would. The company wants money for nothing.

Very bad experience for me signing up for Gen Mobile. I signed up before Christmas at my apartment complex, a guy was giving new phones to residents if they wanted one. I received one and wanted to port my old number to my other phone (which was better than the phone they gave me). It is now January 18th and after many conversations with them for over 3 weeks trying to get my number ported, they tell me that I'm not giving them the right credentials for the account I signed up for. Apparently the guy gave me a locked phone when he signed me up? Several of the agents I talked to told me to call back in 24 hours, my issue would be fixed. There's no way Gen Mobile can help me now, they told me to reapply. NO way will I sign up with them again! Edited to add: No thank you Gen Mobile! My review was in January, it's now September! I will not provide my info to you.
