GE Cafe Dishwasher nightmare
Complete update on our repair experience with Bodewell: Per your request, I’m reaching out about our repair issue. Bodewell has been out to our house 3 times to ‘repair’ our dishwasher. The first time, the repair person showed up at 1:30 (we had an appointment time between 8 and 12) with no call explaining why he was late. He did not fix anything and the dishwasher still leaked. Then, we had a 2nd guy come out. He recognized that the inner door seal was messed up after I had him relook at the dishwasher door because he didn’t spot it on his first look. He attributed the leaking to seals that were stated by the manufacturer should be installed (we have a print out if the installation manual from our contractor stating the dishwasher should be installed with them; however, he disagrees with the manufacturer). He did order the part. Then, the third time a tech came out to install the inner dishwasher door. That tech arrived at 4:15 and told me from the beginning he was leaving at five whether the job was done or not. He not only did not fix the leak, but left it so the dishwasher door slams down and the detergent door doesn’t open. I called customer service and they asked me what did I expect: (1) for him to fix it tonight, (2) fix it for free, or (3) fix it and not get paid. I said I would expect what any reasonable person would want: to have the job fully completed (including what he messed up) before leaving. I was told that was unreasonable and disrespectful and that she was not surprised that he left. She recommended I schedule an early appointment from 8 to 12. I told her we did that once before and the tech didn’t show up until 1:30 pm. When we commented that he was an hour and a half outside the window without calling, he yelled at my wife and I asking if we wanted him to fix it. Today, May 28th, Bodewell came out again and the techs refused to fix the dishwasher because they wouldn’t pull the dishwasher out of the cabinet (in between criticizing the one tech and complaining he shouldn’t be doing any of this because he “is on light work”. So, the dishwasher repairman wouldn’t fix the door spring cables on that the other one broke because he wouldn’t pull the dishwasher out? And, they now have to come out again on June 15th to fix the dishwasher leak, door springs and cables, and the soap dispenser (they said something was wrong with the cable harness wire - which they reused when they put the new inner door back one and worked fine before they switched it out). Here is my original Google review: Representative showed up at 4:15 in a 12 to 5 (5 hour window) and told me he was only working to 5 since he doesn’t get overtime. I told him that scheduling is not my issue. That is an issue he needs to take up with Bodewell and that I expect the job to be completed since I have waited over 4 hours today alone and it was scheduled early May. To his credit, he fixed it and stayed until 5:15. However, because he was rushing to get it done he broke or failed to hook up the springs. When we called him back in he refused to fix it because it was after hours. When I called to have the leaky dishwasher repaired since it was covered under warranty, they first told me they didn’t need to fix it because they (Bodewell) didn’t get our money when we bought the appliance. You can’t make this stuff up. Bodewell is a horrible company when it comes to honoring time windows, sending quality techs (we’ve had only one good one), and servicing our GE product. EDIT: The tech actually made it worst! The dishwasher door falls down and the soap dispenser door doesn’t open when running.
