I have been using free tax usa for about 3 years. I left HR Block for wrongful charges. I did not know that I have been paying $40 to have MY MONEY deposited into my account. I was told I agreed to it and they try to be upfront on costs. Those are lies! Yes it is free to file federal but it costs for state taxes if you have them. However, I thought all this time that I was receiving my money from the State and IRS. NO! It goes to some 3rd party account then they charge us $40 to release our funds!!! If anyone knows about a class action lawsuit against them, please let me know! I have to pay $40 twice because I got state and federal taxes. It is to the point where I will walk my handwritten tax forms to the IRS in my region than dealing with shysters who take people's money for no reason. THERE HAS TO BE LAWS AGAINST THIS. IT IS PREDATORY. WE HAVE TO GET THE WORD OUT AGAINST THESE "TAX PROFESSIONALS."

My first year using FreeTaxUsa as I was tired of turbo being overpriced continuing to charge for a full program each year rather than just new forms/update. FreeTaxUsa was overall easy to use, but, as a 1099 freelancer, I won't use it again since their estimated tax section doesn't seem to account for penalties throughout the year like Turbo always did.. which ended up getting me a $700 dollar penalty that I have never had in 20 some years of being a freelancer and filing taxes. This was after having multiple experts review my (relatively simple) taxes and say they were fine with no issues. To top this off, chatting online with reps (which is nice) sort of became a run around with no one taking responsibility or understanding the issue when I got the letter from the IRS and went through it with them. This was complicated by the fact that they don't have a way of receiving an image of the letter the IRS sent you due to the problem. Edit: Although when in chat with a pro, you can see the buttons for adding attachments, it doesn't actually work. Tried to attach the IRS letter during chats several times, with several formats (pdf, jpg, text file) and it just doesn't work.. you can see the attachment icons, but, they aren't accessible. I primarily use Chrome, but also checked in another browser and had the same issue. Since I was on with an agent while doing this each time, I asked if they had a company email I could send attachments to.. they didn't, so attempts at describing the issue were limited to my typed description, which is good but would have been clearer if the agents could see the actual pages.

This is what it says on the IRS website. Somewhere there is a disconnect between FreeTaxUSA and the rest of the online world. FreeTaxUSA you might want to talk to your Marketing Department about this and either make the correct changes so tax payers aren't mislead, honor the deal they came to your website to redeem until they do so. I could see if only one person said they were told that it would be free, maybe it was a mistake but when multiple people are saying that it was supposed to be free and then you want to hold their tax forms hostage basically until they pay isn't a business practice I'd ever want consider. Its not right. I used freetaxusa this year my federal refund amount was 1453.00.if they advertise free for federal why does my direct deposit say 1398.00 somebody took 55 dollars off the top. Would really like to know why? Don't use them they are liars. They stole 55 bucks from me and it ain't right!!

Okay for tax returns so simple you could've done them on paper anyway. The software is user-friendly enough, but just try to enter the codes for a K-1 form! Half of them aren't supported. Oh well, you get what you pay for.

If you have stock gains, you cannot upload. If you want to file form 8997 you can't. You have to mail return. works for simple returns only customer service is quick but offers little practical ideas

I've been using this service for multiple years with no problems. This year (2021), instead of receiving my tax refund, I received a letter from the IRS with my name and address and someone else's SS#. They will not send my tax refund because they believe my return was a result of identity theft. I've spent hours trying to get through to the IRS without success. Someone suggested I contact freetaxusa to make them aware of the situation because it's possible my return was hacked using their software. Freetaxusa provides no support, not even a # to call them unless I upgrade to a deluxe package. I was able to e-mail them, but they will provide no support other than "call the IRS."

well as they say! 1.never offer the promo after you finish filling for 2020 2. they don't show on their site what problem you have when you fix one they add other 10 problems and they purposely do it. i have been filling tax for years on other tax sites this is the worst. poor customer service it is hard to get any help at all. 3. I pay $25.00 for each sate 12.50. The site wouldn't allow me to move forward telling me i didn't pay for one state. Its been days no one is responding and i asking for refund no one is responding as well. for all my questions. This is HORROR! I will advise for any users for their peace of mined to USE OTHER SITE 4. I have email send to me saying free state and fed for 2020 because i did file 2019 and other just back to back . they know how they can scam me! any ways this is my first post and i will make sure every one knows on other consumer sites too
