I was trying to delete messages in my Messages folder. I could not find a way. Can someone help me please?

A nonprofit and globally local re-gifting and re-use network, each group is moderated by a local volunteer who keeps things flowing along. It's like a cyber curbside, or a family-friendly and scam-free Craigslist for free stuff, keeping good stuff out of landfills to the tune of 32,000 items a day in over 5,000 local groups. Find your local group on Freecycle.org and let the re-use and de-cluttering begin!

Great principle but the site is very difficult to navigate.

Pleased that the redesign now makes the web pages usable on a mobile. However when using both email and the site to respond to messages I am struggling to relate emails to website message threads. Could the thread id be shown on the site message pages maybe?

A good concept, this, though - as other reviewers have noted - the site itself looks very outdated. Also, the photos (of the objects available) don't properly display on Android. I love the general idea of the site overall, but definitely it would benefit from some tweaking and a few alterations in style, design, and overall functioning.

The worst bit about the site is, on my mobile, when replying to a listing the reply box is half off the screen, so you cannot see your whole reply. Does it have a technical issue??? UK app

Disappointing experience but I fully appreciate that this is due to other site users as opposed to the site itself. Advertised a single bed. Virtually brand new. Offered for free as I like the concept of reducing land fill / passing things on to others who might be facing a hard time. 5 responses in first day all asking about availability and saying can pick it up immediately. I give out personal details. No response then. Time wasting and frustrating. Put on Gumtree. Gone first time. I like the concept. Just not the reality.

Absolutely perplexed by so many "timewasting" reviews on here. Only because I've tried several times to get Offers from freecyclers - I've sent messages online as well as email - but I never seem to be successful! Never seem to get any responses. Would love to know where I'm going wrong here. Can't help for want of trying to take people's stuff off their hands!

I've been on Freecycle for many years and had success giving away many items. It's not perfect, but it's pretty good. I'll share some tips that I've learned along the way. 1. Always do a "porch pickup", meaning that you leave it outside somewhere and they come and take it. Obviously, this won't work for everything but you can do this for most items and and it saves you from waiting around for people. 2. Even with porch pickups, ask for an approximate time that they will come. If they don't show up, move on to the next person who requested the item. 3. Freecycle will send emails to you with their name in both the subject line and in the sender field. Set up a rule in your mailbox to collect all of those emails in one folder. This makes it much easier to keep track of your requests. 4. Feel free to deal harshly with anyone who acts inappropriately. For example, someone who rings your bell instead of just picking up their item because they saw other things on your property that they want. Nothing wrong with saying "If I was giving it away, I would have posted it. Have a nice day." You don't have to be nice to rude people. There is one thing that I haven't figured out how to deal with, though. When giving away multiple items, every now and then someone will take everything that I've left out, instead of just what was intended for them. The only time I was able to prevent this was when they rang the bell and asked for help putting everything in their van. I knew that I hadn't given "everything" to any one person and I told them to leave immediately. They did. No matter how many precautions you take, you will still run into people like this from time to time but I think by taking the steps that I've listed above, I've managed to reduce the aggravation greatly.

Thanks for your review, Susan. One other thing that I do is that when I pick a recipient, I request their phone number to get them directions to my house. By calling or texting it becomes a bit more personal and they are more likely to show up on time etc as they know you'll call if they don't, or that you *could* call, etc. Look for a website update in the autumn. Will enable replies directly on site too which is nice. Sincerely, Deron
