Its not just about people failing to turn up its about getting an item and the offeror passing it on to someone else on route

A nonprofit and globally local re-gifting and re-use network, each group is moderated by a local volunteer who keeps things flowing along. It's like a cyber curbside, or a family-friendly and scam-free Craigslist for free stuff, keeping good stuff out of landfills to the tune of 32,000 items a day in over 5,000 local groups. Find your local group on Freecycle.org and let the re-use and de-cluttering begin!

As of April 6,2020 I told you to stop sending me e-mails, I am now going to the better business bureau because you refuse to stop. I never signed up for this and do not want it. You are using my e-mail without my consent for distribution of your products and I do not want them. April 20th, 2020!!! Your response is for me to send you my login to remove me, how can I send you a login I don't have because I never signed up for it. That is pretty pathetic. I am now reporting you to the BBB

Simply send your freecycle.org login email address to [email protected] and ask them to remove your data. Glad to oblige. Deron

Why does Freecycle seem to attract these people who like to waste your time and say YEAH I want it and can I come round after 4:00o/c when they have no intention of doing it and wont give you a MOBILE PHONE NUMBER to see if they are real.. Seems they like to cause you inconvenience for the sake of having a small brain,,,, Is it some type of new brain disease .? If you use Freecycle... First this to do if you get a response is to say --Yes... sure... that fine,,,,What's your mobile number so I can text you the address, If you get no answer then they made up a number...SO ,,,No Mobile number then good bye...

Well, free is free so the commitment level is low up front. But, actually your comment/advice is solid: I *always* ask for a phone number so that I may "call and give directions" but also/mostly so that the recipient also has some skin in the game. They know if they don't show up etc that they'll be getting another call. It's just good common sense. Thanks for pointing that out. Sincerely, Deron

Local group volunteers don't and are physically unable to change your personal settings for you. There is no way they signed you up for something you did not wish. You would have had to do that yourself. Sorry you feel as you do. The Freecycle Network is a charitable nonprofit and each local group is run by dedicated local volunteers who keep scammers out and keep the local groups family friendly.

Good idea let down by bad moderators or the sites admin system, been waiting 4 days for things I've listed for offer to be approved and I've seen several things in my group getting added daily so either the system isn't showing the moderators my offers for approval or they for some reason are ignoring them... will wait a day or two more then its off to the landfill.

Sorry to hear that. We have volunteer local moderators in every community to approve posts, generally just of new members. If you are having issues, I'd encourage you to write help at freecycle dot org and they can get things going for you. New member approval also helps local moderators keep out the scammers and spammers and family *un*friendly posts. Sometimes things get missed though so we appreciate your reaching out. Best, Deron

I will never use Freecycle again. I tried 5 different people to give things to and got blown off by 4 out of the five. I put stuff on my porch & wait all day long & they don’t show or let me know or even respond. And, by the time I find out I’m dealing with another loser, of course, they have my address. I can’t even tell them what a loser they are because they have my address & I don’t even know who they are. I would never subject myself to this again. I will throw everything in the trash from now on. It’s not worth the hassle & annoyance. This sounded like a great idea but it does not work.

Well, that sucks. What I do is ask for their phone number to get them directions to my house. That way, if they don't show, they know I'll call and they'll feel bad about it. No number sharing, no exchange. It's worked well for me. Sincerely, Deron PS: also working on a rating system for our site re-do in the near future.
