I was trying to get some work done on a KDP book that I had written. I wanted a UK based person to go through some bits with my book, so I was on the same timeline and didnt have to wait half a day for a reply when it was my daytime. I filtered to UK based only. Everyone I clicked on - when I either messaged or looked at their time was in Pakistan or India! Their messages / adverts are barely in readable English, so why would I want to work with them on my book? Why arent they regulated so they have to prove where they are located? They also use names like Claire or John, then you get chatting and they are Farhad or Imran from Pakistan. If they are fraudulent from the start lying about where they are from - that indicates their attitude. Before I had clocked this I picked "Angela" - helping me with my book cover which KDP werent accepting. I gave her all the info she asked for - created me a compliant cover from my design - I designed it all she was just formatting to size etc- KDP rejected it - whatever I did they rejected it. Asked for a revision - she told me it was fine there was nothing wrong with it. I showed a screenshot where they were rejecting it, she told me "It is you wrong, not the work I do" (exactly like that). I told her clearly that was not the case. After a back and forth I got her to do a revision and she did something which made it fit - and then she still blamed me even though she had to change her work to make it right! It was then I noticed the time on her page - and yes, turns out she was in pakistan. Took 3 days to do a one day job - that now I know what I am doing, I can do myself in about 30 minutes.

lots of scammers

Am been using fiverr services for about 3 years but there only small hand portion of honest sellers on there platform. But am starting find now more fiverr sellers coming on there are mostly dishonest about their services they lie about their services just to make a buck. Am had requests refunds on number of times on fiverr sellers are scamming and dishonest about services. So am about to limit my usage on fiverr.

Fiverr uses unethical practices. I was shown a price. I proceeded to pay and then found $20 extra had been applied to my credit card. At the end of the project it seemed impossible to gain the work without giving the end person a tip. The person delivering the work was good to deal with and they helped me get the final product without a tip.

I would rate this experience 1 star but the truth is i never even got to make my account. website was so buggy it would glitch during making my account 2 times on seperate pages - both times the glitch/bug prevented me from creating my account where it should have been a 5 minute job. it has been 3 HOURS and i have been in contact with the support bot (absolutely atrocious AI from like 2016 or something) AND emailed them AND have since had a response to my request to fix these bugs. their reply? "try checking the FAQs and filing a ticket on your account" as if i hadn't done all that, because the last thing they give you is their actual customer support email. and now they just tell me to walk in circles and treat me like the bugs on their website are MY FAULT. this is beyond appalling and i can't believe how much worse it would get if i was genuinely trying to use this service as a freelancer.

I have been using Fiverr for more than 3 years, and have also used other platforms like Upwork to be able provide a just comparison about what Fiverr lacks currently. 1. The platform favours Buyers than it does for Freelancers, to a great extent Buyers are provided tons of opportunities to make adjustments, revisions, changes etc. for the gig they purchase. This often leads to a freelancer requiring to slog over defined scopes to satisfy the buyer even though they are done with revision quota or timelines. Meaning a buyer has flexibility to toy around with over asking from the initially defined scope, while if you mark a resolution to that the investigation process can put a dent on your performance metrics because of delays 2. Very long settlement periods for freelancers With advancement in technologies and cutting edge solutions, I don’t see a need to lock earnings from a completed gig for more than 2 weeks. This is utter nonsense as I can give a good example of this. Say you engage with a buyer, define a task for 7 days to complete and buyer makes payment to Fiverr to place order. Now, you do the work for 7 days and the buyer is happy to mark the order complete and leave a good review. After ~14 days Fiverr releases the amount and the money takes another 2-3 working days for partners like PayPal to drop into your account. It’s almost a month after which you actually receive the amount into your bank from when the buyer makes the payment to Fiverr. 3. It’s high time that the 20% commission is reviewed What’s pathetic is that long term and performing freelancers do not get rewarded by the platform. Upwork rewards recurring engagements by slashing the % take on every repeat engagement after certain threshold of income. It starts from 20 and then reduces to 10 and then 5 (to my recollection). Fiver sticks to a flat 20% even though you have recurring purchases from buyers, and they don’t care about that and continue taking their flat cut no matter what. 4. Performance metrics for freelancers are sub-par To keep up with the best performance metrics for your profile, you need to always be bringing in revenue without a break. If there’s even a seasonal pause to orders coming in towards you, Fiverr don’t care and they penalise for that as well. This is pathetic given that the platform competitions have increased substantially in the market.

Fiverr's concept is good but... The problem is that for some jobs that will take time to reveal the quality of the freelancer's work you don't have ways of rating their job correctly or even make them fix stuff for you. Decent for design stuff but not for web related content.

Wow, wow, wow. What an appalling experience! Tried to sign up with this company as a seller. Account was declined, no explanation. Declined, decision can not be changed! Never come across such an unhelpful, arrogant company in my life. They reviewed my messages and reinstated me. I've given them an extra star for now, but watch this space.
