Superb Service: truly saved the date by ensuring that the father of the groom got to the wedding!
I am writing on behalf Fastport Passport, in particular about “Sam F,” based in the Brooklyn office, and by extension, her colleague in Philadelphia: “Eric M.” While I am sure our story is not unique, the customer service we experienced was unprecedented. Fastport Passport literally saved a wedding! I have no fewer than 25 emails between us, over a three day period—stored—to substantiate their meticulous attention to our plight. I realize that this is their niche—helping those with tight time constraints—but even allowing for that, this firm's performance was above and beyond. Every step of the way, the liason--Sam F-- worked to assure us, responding to every hitch with a constructive solution, and checking back at each juncture to ensure everything was in order. I cannot thank her, her cohort Eric F. in Philadelphia, and the firm enough. To make a short story longer… On Monday, 23 July 2014, at 9:30 AM, I was gathering the family passports together in preparation for our flight on Thursday, 26 July at 7:00 AM from Dayton to Cabo, Mexico where one of our sons was getting married. I just happened to glance at my husband’s picture page and realized his passport had expired two months previously! I got on the Internet, but overwhelmed by choice, I immediately called another son in Brooklyn, and he quickly found your firm: Fastport Passport. My husband called, and per Sam F’s instructions, I completed an application for a replacement, zipped my husband to a Kinkos to get new passport pictures, and was just about to FedEx the materials, along with a check for the passport itself, when Sam called back and said we needed to send the application to Philadelphia instead, to ensure a one-day turnaround. I dutifully paid FedEx ‘double’ to ensure that the package would travel “priority“ and be delivered by 8 AM Tuesday, 24 July. (Meanwhile my husband left Dayton to drive to Louisville for a two-day conference.) FedEx failed. Sam F. called me right away on TU morning to say Eric F. (in Philadelphia) had not received the package. When I called Fed Ex I got an insipid person who repeatedly apologized and said it would arrive by 10:30 AM. I’m actually not a person who rants or blames people not responsible for an event, as I explained to the young woman. I told her (more than one) apology was not necessary, that I just wanted to report the failure, explain that we had ‘lost a day’ due to FedEx error. She simply referred me to the refund department. Since we had missed the Tuesday opportunity, Sam F. explained the passport could be processed on Wednesday, but now timing was critical. Alas, FedEx acquired my business again, since they ‘promised’ to be the swiftest alternative. In talking with Sam and—this time—a very helpful person at Fed Ex, we decided the safest and surest route was to take the passport by courier to Baltimore and put it on a nonstop flight to Columbus via Southwest, where we could pick it up that night (really TH morning at 12: 15 AM). (To give you a feel for this discussion, I had a phone to each ear—Sam of Fastport Passport on one line, Fed Ex on the other. We discussed several options before deciding on the Baltimore flight. As it happened, that flight was delayed, but the cargo people at Southwest stayed an extra two hours for the sake of my frantic husband who had driven back from Louisville that afternoon, then driven to Columbus to wait for the package at their cargo bay. Quite literally he arrived back in Dayton at 3:30 AM, and we left for the Dayton airport at 4:30 AM to catch our flight. It doesn’t get much tighter than that! We made it in time for the wedding, and unlike our preparations, the ceremony went off without a hitch. It was a small elegant wedding—just 25 close family members and friends. I should say that this was the wedding of our first child, born in the Caribbean and adopted when he was 3 years old. So seeing him happily partnered, at 36 years of age was a very emotional event for us. I cannot imagine the sorrow my husband would have felt, had he not been there. To repeat, we cannot thank Sam, Eric and Fastport Passport enough. We are forever in their debt.
