This was a pretty great experience for me. I visited an in-person retailer, wrote down the name of the frames I wanted, then went to eyeglasses.com to pay 20% less than retail. I purchased a pair of reading glasses and a pair of sunglasses. The reading glasses have progressive lenses and the sunglasses don't. It took less than two weeks to get my glasses. The only reservations I have is that there are so many options for the lenses that I didn't know what kind were appropriate for me. So, I ended up doing some research online about the different kind of options. Also, it was difficult to make the decision on how dark and what color tint I needed on my sunglasses. I'd rather have more options than fewer, though.

I highly recommend Eyeglasses.com. I have bought at least 5 frames from them over the years and have found the quality excellent and the employees efficient, respectful and helpful. The customer service has been great. The first pair of glasses I ordered went so well that I ordered a second pair. On my second order I made a mistake with the lenses. When they arrived I discovered the problem. I called them and they made new lenses for free even though the error was technically mine. I just had to return the glasses (at my cost), they swapped lenses, and shipped them back to me (at their cost).

After visiting several local eyeglass stores with my broken frame with progressive lenses and getting no better solution than getting an entirely new pair of glasses, at a cost of $800 plus, I decided to look on the Internet for a replacement frame that could use the same lenses from the broken frame. I found Eyeglasses.com that had the same "Charmant" frame for just $145 ! (same color, same sizes). I ordered it and received the brand new frame a few days later. It is is a little tricky to set the lenses in the frame, especially when you are using old glasses to deal with those very small screws. It helps to use nice and sharp precision eyeglass screwdrivers, but if you are patient, it is worth it. I highly recommend it. JP
