This was our 22nd liveaboard, pretty much around the world. We consider it one of the very best. First the crew treated everyone on board like family (not in-laws!) Almost all the crew are dive instructors and several were in the water every dive just to make sure we were safe and to help look for small critters. Kudos to the fine crew members. We have invited all of them to our home if they are ever in Houston. Every since crew member was an absolute delight. The dive deck has a great layout. Plenty of room for gear under our tank stations and we were each given a large covered plastic box for odds and ends. All nitrox fills were quick and stable and between 31 and 32%. Two oxygen analyzers reduced the number of fistfights between my wife and me (just kidding). Dive entries were easy for everyone. My wife and I have back issues and the crew was awesome, taking our gear down to the huge dive platform (all diving is done off the mother ship). And two huge stable non-skid ladders made entry back up very easy. After every dive we had a warm deck shower and towels waiting for us. Snacks always followed each dive. Night diving was easy and pleasant. Sharks, basket stars, and octopus put on nice floor shows for us. The sharks sometimes came close enough for us to whisper in their ears! Every lobster we saw (plenty) was huge. They would make our stomachs growl. Meals were varied, plentiful, and fabulous. And the deserts were so great we wanted to take the awesome chef, Jo, captive. The airport can be a chaotic zoo, but there are food and drink booths to ease the turmoil. THERE IS NOTHING NEGATIVE TO BE SAID ABOUT A WEEK ON THE TURKS AND CAICOS EXPLORER!

CEx needs to decide if they are providing a guided dive experience or supporting independent liveaboard diving. If guided dives, groups should be no larger than 8 divers and split by bottom time/camera habits. If independent, then divers should be allowed to dive their own profiles (up to a reasonable time limit), and encouraged to explore sites once appropriately briefed. Having 12-13 divers grouped with a single dive master greatly limits the enjoyment of liveaboard diving. Boat condition and setup was average for the cost. Warm showers on the dive deck are a nice, but small cabins and limited common areas make it hard to get any distance from fellow passengers on a full boat. Food was very good, with many healthy options. Staff was friendly and helpful. Sadly, the reefs are in miserable condition, with moderate hard coral bleaching, heavy algae growth and a marked lack of large reef fish -- aside from lion fish, which are thriving. While not CEx's fault, one wonders if there are more appealing dive sites in the region.

12 people for 16 divers on a beautiful boat among amazing landscapes and wild animals... This diving cruise was a really great experience: diving guides are both wonderfull (Natalia and Alex), captain and his team are fantastic!

Fantastic trip. The dive guides were great, Evan was awesome and the service staff was top notch. The food was excellent! Great tastes of Indonesia. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

We were on the Humbolt Explorer from nov 27 to dec 4th 2023 This was a bucklet list destination for me and my wife Explorer met all our expectations and so did the Galapagos Hundreds of hammerhead sharks, 2 whale sharks, 2 killer whales, many turtles, sea lions, dolphins, and multitude of marine life all around us We loved the remotenesses but still felt secure thanks to the guides Oscar and Kevin, as well to the ship crew’s who were excellent at all time Food on board was excellent and plentiful Sure an expensive liveaboard but better that then a full bank account on my last day in this world 😉😂

Great team! From dive staff, to Captain, to our chef, not forgetting all support staff, everyone went out of their way to make sure we had the best dive vacation! Loved everything! Will recommend you to all my diving friends! 🐠🦈🐟☀️🌊

I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this fantastic trip aboard the Turks and Caicos Explorer II. The crew was amazing. Captain Bob, Joann, Ali, Molly, Tristan, Mark and Vardo. All week they catered to us and made sure that we felt really special. The diving was exceptional. The food was amazing. I don't know whether I looked more forward to the next meal or the next dive. I just know that I was always enjoying. I'll definity be back and maybe bring a new group of divers.
