I wasted $100 on an Embarkvet DNA test
I wasted $100 on an Embarkvet DNA test. I ran into another dog who was the spitting image of mine. Her owner had her tested by Embark and was told he was Staffordshire and Skye terrier, also pit bull etc. My dog who everybody identifies as some kind of terrier mix came back as Chihuahua, Miniature Pinscher, Poodle, Pomeranian none of which he looks like at all. No terrier at all which is unbelievable. I complained to Embark and was told that people don’t know anything about breeds, vets don’t understand DNA etc. (my vet said the results were not impossible but highly unlikely). I requested a retest which is advertised on their website but was turned down. Embark gets generally positive reviews but I think in my case the sample was either mishandled, contaminated, or there wasn’t enough DNA to be accurate and they’re unwilling to make it right. I cannot recommend the company.
