I have just completed the Elvtr Fantasy Writing Course facilitated by Ed McDonald. This is a well crafted course with relevant, thought provoking and sometimes vital information for any aspiring fantasy writer. Over 14 sessions, the content is wide ranging and the time commitment is well worth it. The tutor is a published fantasy novelist and combines theory with his practical experience and extensive knowledge. During the workshop activities with and without your peers, there is opportunity to get feedback from them and the tutor on your idea, your writing style etc. I found the assignments very useful to focus me on the quality of my writing, and they inspired me to enter two separate short story competitions as well. Elvtr also provided an excellent platform for the course delivery and support. I would definitely recommend this course.

Loved my recent course. Though it was a bit pricey, it was the only one of its kind so I am grateful.

ELVTR and Guthrie Theater Artistic Director Tracy Brigden make a great pair — technology paired with the talent and insight of a true artist. Tracy lends her ear to the antics and the tough demands of the craft. Years of directing have shaped her into an articulate voice — one who tells it like it is, yet honors every story of heartbreak, showing us that it runs in our blood. Group interactions and thoughtfully designed class projects shaped this rich course, full of theater etiquette and bold ideas.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience taking the Editor in Book Publishing course with Julia Wallace. I learned so much, it was user friendly and helpful to have availability to both, Julia and Mariana to talk with via the discord and classroom! There were some subjects I wish we had had some more in depth work/explanations with but that's more personal preference than anything. It did seem like we may have needed an extra week so we could not have assignments overlap so much, only because it was hard to focus on one assignment and move directly onto the next. I am so excited to start this next chapter thanks to this class!

Happy with classes and content !

Easy and responsive manager. Open and friendly online classroom environment.

Overall, this was a great class! In addition to Adam Beechen himself, several other writers in the comics industry made guest appearances, and so much expertise was shared! However, it could've been a bit more transparent. As many people have noted with other Elvtr courses, they are not up front about their pricing, which feels a little unethical. If I'm being charged a lot of money for something, I don't want that to be sprung on me during a phone call. I want to be able to look at the course page and see "Here is the standard price, but early bird pricing is this." Very few people have a few thousand dollars just lying around to spare, and it's a big financial decision. The course content is as advertised. It's comprehensive and super beginner-friendly! Whether you've been writing creatively for years, or just got curious about it, I think you'll find the class accessible. All of the assignments really build on one another and work to build a professional portfolio, and class materials are easily accessible outside of class. Once you get past registration, it's a great course!
