After my initial consultation with ECR…
After my initial consultation with ECR we felt hopeful for the prospect that our elderly parents receiving help. However, I really wish that ECR had forewarned me that essentially all hands were tied because of the State where my parents reside. Had we known, we would not be out more money that we don’t have. We felt unsupported and taken advantage of by another company exploiting their clients’ situation for money.

Thank you for your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the frustration you are experiencing. Navigating the Medicaid landscape is incredibly complex, and we understand how disheartening it feels to face state-imposed hurdles when seeking care for loved ones. In Maryland, many families face a 1–8 year waiting list for certain home care waivers, which is why it often feels like "hands are tied." Our goal is to provide a roadmap to navigate these delays. Regarding the home, the Child Caregiver Exemption is a powerful tool to protect equity from Estate Recovery, but the state’s requirements are very strict—typically requiring documented proof that the care provided directly prevented a move to a facility for at least two years. We want to make sure you have immediate options. In Maryland, the "Community First Choice" (CFC) program has no waiting list and can often provide the financial support needed for home-based care right now. We have sent you an email to schedule a complimentary follow-up with our leadership team. We would like to help you explore CFC and ensure you have the specific documentation needed to protect your family's home under the Caregiver Exemption.
