Boring. As a student, it makes me want to instead read bad reviews when I should be on the "Learning Path". Oh, how I wish my class would switch Edmentum to something better. The thing is that games can be a lot more fun while still being educational: Prodigy, Blooket, Quizizz, Learning.com, Scratch, the list goes on! I think (along with the other people in this review section) that Edmentum is garbage. I'd rate it 0/10.

One star is WAY to much
One star is WAY to much! This virtual school is trash. These ppl are grading my daughter and she just took a test where the questions had entire missing words and misspellings!! Are you kidding me?? They also deleted her classes from the first quarter of the second semester and now she has NO STUDY MATERIAL! They lied to me, the Johnston County School District in NC lied to me, the virtual academy principal Kelley Johnson lied to me AND the virtual counselor Mr. Allred lied to me and just chose to ignore my texts, a real coward! Edmentum, the school district, the virtual principal who knows zilch about ANYTHING pertaining to Edmentum and the lying counselor are all full of garbage!! These ppl are teaching and in charge of teaching...now if that is not an oxymoron, I don’t know what is! They get a big “F” for FAILURES and a big “L” for LIARS!!!

Student Review
I am currently a Junior in highschool and have been doing Edmentum since Sophmore year due to medical problems. I am not a social person but I beg to go back to school even though I know I am not ready to yet. Trying to learn any sort of Math from just reading it is so hard I wish it was more videos and explanations instead of me having to youtube it and use Khan Academy 24/7. The website has so many spelling and grammar errors and not to mention I am spending every weekday and weekend trying to do the assignments. I have never been so stressed with school in my life till I started this. The questions on the test don't always match up with what you learned at all, the lessons take forever and drain me the Ela may say 32-50 slides but than has links to stories you have to read,They said in the guidelines that you get holiday break but I haven't had any, the lessons have questions on the content before you even begin learning it, inside the slide they have a sheet full of long short response questions or essays that end up saying question 1 a, b, c, d,and e than questions 2 a, b, c, d , and e, and at the end rate yourself 1-5 stars and why. Other classes I have are labeled lesson 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 and have critical thinking questions at the end each lesson about 10 minutes so that's about 60 minutes than you have to answer the questions which takes maybe 20-30 minutes and on top of it you have a bunch of other assignments to do yes, to parents reading this school usually takes 8 hours but includes lunch, breaks, and free time lunch in school usually last about 30 minutes that brings you down to 7 and a half hours than breaks takes away the other 30 minutes leaving you with 6 hours but you still have breaks, locker time, and free time to deduct from that so edmentum takes even longer. I would not suggest it unless you want your kids super stressed and grouchy all the time or better yet having to get stress medication.

Too tedious! :(
I'm in 8th grade and I have used Edmentum for one semester and currently using it still, and it's honestly not a good program. Personally, I think Edmentum needs improvement with the content they provide for us students. I believe their tests are way too hard, especially the finals. The finals are about 30-50 questions, and sometimes there are questions that don't relate to what I learned. For example, I got asked about women and men stereotypes on my English finals, which I never learned about once in any of my English lessons! I think the finals should be 25 questions at max. I have never had a test that was above 25-30 questions when I attended distance learning last year. There are also way too many multiple choice questions in my opinion, especially on the math tests, which make them take longer to solve. They also make you solve multiple problems in one question for the math tests, which also takes too long! They also need to improve on their lessons. Sometimes sitting all day staring at the screen and reading what I need to be taught gets boring and although there are videos throughout the lessons there need to be more to save time. Also, sometimes the lessons take way too long, mostly because of the activities they make you do inside the lessons or just having to read a lot. Basically, Edmentum can be way too lengthy and boring for me. There are many other things that need to be changed, but I think that Edmentum really need to change the length of their content(ESPECIALLY THE FINALS!), because a lot of it takes too much time. I can't even believe how much more tedious things would be if I took Edmentum in high school! If you can, please avoid this program!

SINGAPORE, CHINA CURRICULUM
i have 2 kids in Virtual Aademy kinder and 2nd. i found out why this program is so bad. they use material from singapore, CHINA!! curriculum does not relate at all to the US. math and english, writing and grammar is not usable. they dont work. and do not have any interaction besides showing you a picture of the book. i called their help toll free number and not one phone call back. i called and left a message every morning. tried the chat, didnt work, it resorted me to the 800 number again and again. told the school district. they reached out for answers and no reply. i had to purchase the books on my own for both kids so they can have some interaction. I GIVE THEM A ZERO rating

Much room for improvement, little availability for suggestions.
There are several things in Edmentum that I think could be improved. One big way is having video lessons instead of having to read the lesson. Reading my math and english lessons throws me off so I just find the questions it asks and figure out how to do it myself. Also it sometimes teaches things out of order which is really confusing. There are many questions on the quizzes and tests that are irrelevant to the topic at all. Also some of the questions are from articles in the notes but they don't give it to you to read. They just expect you to remember which is really hard when you skim through the notes since they are more complicated then the tests. Many of the questions for my English class are subjective and multiple ones could be correct. In my math class there have been multiple times I was confused on something and spent a really long time, only to find out with my teacher it was an error on their part. In my science class it barely explains the important things and spends way too much time reiterating irrelevant information. Also many lessons in history, science, and math are basically the same and keep going over the same stuff for many chapters. Also whenever you take a quiz or test(even if you pass), the only way to look at what you got right or wrong is to do it with a teacher. The quizzes also tend to use many of the same questions. It makes it hard since you don't know if you should change it or keep it. When your teachers are going over your quizzes they can only look at your most recent attempt. This is frustrating if you want to take it until you pass and then go over it or take it twice etc. It's difficult to do anything about any of this because I couldn’t find anywhere online to leave suggestions or feedback or even ask questions that aren’t part of their minimal help center. It would be very helpful if there was somewhere to make suggestions. Even better would be suggestions on specific questions since they tend to have lots of questions that could use improvement. Despite all of this, there are a few things I do like. One of them being that some classes you can take a pretest and test out of some lessons(not very many classes). Also I like how you can set what day a class should be done and it tries to give you a rough time frame when assignments should be done and shows how close/far you are from that goal. I also like how it shows your grade for the assignments you have done and your grade for all of the assignments in the class.

The way this website teaches math is unacceptable.
The way this website teaches math is not helping at all. There is little to no explanation, and the explanation that is given does not make any sense whatsoever. There is no way to talk to a real teacher, and the courses other than math teaches you nothing. They are too simple, with no grade appropriate skills taught at all. This website shouldn’t be used.

It helps no one.
Edmentum is stupid and completely unnecessary for anybody in my high school. The reason being is that none of what we are learning in Edmentum, we are using in our classes. My school decided to replace our advisory time with Edmentum, and I feel that it has done nothing to improve my peers academically.
