I personally hate Edmentum. The lessons are very text heavy and it can strain the eyes after a while. They also last for too long. It’s draining having to read 20 or more pages per lesson. The lessons aren’t engaging either. They’re very boring and for example: English 12 teaches you Old English. In a traditional school, I doubt that’s what they teach. Sometimes it’s hard to follow. If I’ll be honest, I haven’t learned any useful stuff from Edmentum, but have to take it for credit recovery to graduate this year. I do well on my exams and usually get 90s-100s, but the way they’re structured are quite poor as well. You have to mesmerize rather than actually consume the material. The only thing I like is that it’s self paced. That’s all.

Too many slides, too little time
i used this site when i had to make up a credit for a class i dropped, and it wasnt a pleasant experience. Most of the slides contained paragraphs after paragraphs of information you wouldnt be able to memorize in time to do your post tests because there were so many of them. the post tests themselves were all multiple choice so i guess thats a plus, but they were very long. Instead of being graded on mainly the writing portions where you could show off what you know about a very specific question, you were forced to get a grade on the post tests alone. All the post tests were, in a nutshell, memory games. you had to memorize definitions and stuff like that to get a good grade, instead of being graded on all the writing portions (there were about 2 writing questions each slideshow and required you to write in a good amount of detail). Why they dont grade you on how well you understood the material by showing what you know in writing i dont know. All i know is redoing all those post tests, which have up to 30 questions, without being able to use notes really stressed me out. On top of that, each unit (or slideshow, because their the same thing) you did had to get over a 60 percent score to pass the class. Each unit contributed to your OVERALL score, which had to be at at least 60 percent to get credit, just like the individual scores you got after completing a slideshow. When i completed mine with most of the units above 60, i still didnt have enough to pass even though I completed all the work. So i had to retake post tests until it went up. I believe that making students memorize so much imformation all at once and then write about it is one thing, but to get to the actual post tests you had to go through all 30 slides at once if you wanted to remember anything for the test. This took more then 45 minutes for me personally because I was trying to make sure the info stuck. But if you logged out and got back on the next day, i bet you would have forgotten all the info or at least some of it. So you had to go through 30 slides all over again all while preparing to take the post test. There are too many slides with too many details that you wont need (or probably remember) for the post tests- seriously the questions are only 1-2 sentences long, not that detailed. My main criticism is the way the were made to take in information- many paragraphs of texts. But if the info was structured in bullet point format that sold the main idea in a way students could remember without all the details, I think their scores would go up, as they will remember the main idea because its easier. But maybe this is just a me thing, as I have a terrible memory due to ADHD and stuff. Other then that its not the worst site in the world, not the best either.

The lessons are bad, the progress test was horrible
During middle school, I was assigned to get 2 proficiency trophies every week for English and math. Those lessons were repetitive and not even helpful! I barely learned anything worth knowing. I was stuck on the poetry lesson like 10 times because I did not understand anything. Anyways, I almost cried because I couldn't get my 2 trophies.
I'm so glad to never use this anymore!

Hard to navigate system, unhelpful customer service, out of date curriculums.
My opinion may be biased due to the fact I am a student but I will try to remain as impartial as possible in this review.
Some of the curriculums are ok, but most of them really aren’t. They don’t teach you the concepts you need to know before asking you about them a lot of the times and many of the simulations/articles in my courses are “inaccessible” due to the fact the curriculum has not been updated since 2019/2020. The customer service people are quite unhelpful if you call to sort out an issue, stating you need to go to your teacher and get them to fix the issue while also providing no advice in how your teacher is supposed to fix that problem, despite the fact that is LITERALLY THEIR JOB. Relating to this fact, mentor teacher who checks over all my work has made it clear their system is far from the easiest to navigate and if she is trying to fix an issue I have reported there is often little she can do.
Speaking as an online student who has been through various different systems for independent study and learning I would not go with Edmentum. It is better than maybe one other system I’ve tried, which is not saying much at all.

From a Student's Perspective
Here is the brief list of some issues with this platform:
I've had tech people say it is buggy and does not work properly (on the teacher's end, parent's end and student's end),
There are unrealistic expectations set that can stress out students (I've struggled with juggling only four courses),
There are no holiday breaks,
It does not seem like the courses are fact-checked, and some of the courses are teaching me untrue and biased material,
Random updates that stopped me from being able to do my lessons, then changed the way everything looked.
These are some of the largest issues I've had with the platform itself.
Some good things about the platform:
It is self paced, which is definitely nice.
They've got some a neat built in page that searches for on demand careers using your interests.
Personally, I advise people to stay away from this platform and find an alternative option.

Lessons are god awful at actually teaching. Don’t recommend
Ive used edmentum for summer school for the past two years and I can easily say I was not impressed. The entire premise of a good half of the lessons I took were rooted in you already knowing the material in at least some capacity, which I’ve found to be both super annoying and frustrating considering Im supposed to be making up what I don’t know, not building on what I do. Also considering this is also used in some capacity for at home education, this is a serious design flaw. Additionally,I’ve found that the program does absolutely no actual explanation beyond real world applications, in geometry for example knowing real world applications does nothing if you don’t know the equations in which you are supposed to apply, which I haven’t seen any of. It doesn’t explain how to do any of it, only gives you a few problems to solve with no prior knowledge of how and you’re just supposed to figure it out along the way? With minimal to no instruction? That’s not how education works, and it’s not how lessons should operate. I should be taught how to do it, in whole, then asked to apply it, not one or the other. I’ve also noticed that the one lesson we are given before a mastery test is not accurate to the questions asked on the test, and what I mean is the difficulty and complexity of the questions are higher on the mastery test then what we are actually taught, so even if I do understand the useless lesson the test pulls random stuff out of nowhere. So anyway the only reason this isn’t getting 1 star is because, I did make up my credits quickly, no help to the course itself, but rather google.
