Dear Hilary: Your review is very clear to us. You didn't insert our ear plug CORRECTLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1. You said "heavy to wear". The answer is: our ear was "too large" for your ear. You could have pinched off some material and inserted a smaller ear plug that would have fit your ear PERFECTLY. 2. You said "not bad for sound blocking". The answer is: It is obvious to us that you didn't insert the ear plug (firmly) enough to have it SEAL your ear canal. If you inserted it correctly an allowed it to SEAL, you would have heard SILENCE. 3. You said, " bits of the ear plugs get stuck in my hair". The answer is: You didn't PUSH the ear plug (deep enough) into your ear canal and it PROTRUDED and got involved with your hair. Hilary, please correct all 3 situations and you'll be "pleasantly surprised" how magnificent the "sound blocking" is. Dear Bee Bee: ON THE CONTRARY!!!! THEY DO (( WORK )) wonderfullly BUT; being made from Beeswax, ( PRIOR to INSERTION ), they NEED to be (kneaded or worked) between one's fingers or hands for at least 20 seconds to make them (soft and moldable) !!!!! Once (soft and moldable), they are relatively easy to insert. Upon insertion, we then allow them to SEAL the ear canal. Bee Bee, please follow the instruction below and you will experience GREAT BLOCKING of SOUND !!! 1. Just before insertion, take (( ONE )) ear plug at a time, and (work or knead) it between your fingers or hands for at least ( 15-20 ) seconds to make our Beeswax ear plug, (soft and mouldable). NOW we recommend to adult women or a men with smaller ear canals; to easily pinch off about 1/3rd of the ear plug to make it smaller. We advise this to those who feel any discomfort at all. 2. Then push and flatten the softened ear plug, (a bit firmly), IN and AGAINST your ear opening, UNTIL YOU FEEL the ear plug (( SEAL )), yes (( SEAL )) your ear canal. IMPORTANT: If the ear plug doesn't SEAL immediately, then just keep your finger pressed against it for a few more seconds and it will warm and SEAL PERFECTLY; and be sure to push them in far enough so that the (( whole ear plug )) is in your canal. 3. Now take the other ear plug, and prepare it and insert it (exactly) the same way as the first ear plug. With both ears SEALED, (( NOW )) Bee Bee, LISTEN TO THE SILENCE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bee Bee, please keep me informed as to your experience. Dear Jan: Of course. Definitely, we invite you to return them !!! You'll be entitled to a full refund. I honestly cannot explain your reaction of redness and itchy; for our ear plugs are (all natural), made from Pure filtered Beeswax, Sterile Cotton, and Pure Lanolin. We haven't had any other (similar reports) from any customers, but it surely does not diminish the importance of your experience. It appears that you have become allergic to something in the ear plugs or the ear plugs may somehow have become contaminated by something at your home. ??????????????
