My pet is 15 years old. I have treated her for all the issues I called about except her diarrhea was worse and I needed to know if they could do anything to help me. The AI got it in its head that she needed to go to ER immediately. I could not get past AI I could not reason with AI screw Dutch and what they think is their AI. AI is not a vet. But maybe that’s the way a vet at Dutch. Vets name at Dutch is. AI don’t call her. She is stupid.

Thank you for sharing this, and we're truly sorry for the frustration you ran into. That's not the experience we want for you or your senior pup. Please know that our vets are real, licensed veterinarians who are here to help you and your pet. We've since corrected our initial customer service AI response so this won't happen again. For any medical-related questions, we highly recommend messaging your vet directly by logging into your account and selecting "Message a Vet," and they'll be glad to help with her diarrhea.

At first I was impressed with appt set…
At first I was impressed with appt set up. However when it comes to meds for my sick dog who needs ANTIBIOTICS they are playing a game making me wait multiple business days to get my script transferred. My dog could die from this and they do not care. I’ve been on the phone many times with them and they just keep saying it will be sent from our transfer team. Had I known this I would have just went to my regular vet!!! They don’t care about your pets but your money!! I could have it shipped for $25 which is crazy. Never again.

Thank you for your feedback, and we're sorry to hear about the worry over your dog. We want to be clear that Dutch isn't designed to be emergency medicine, and for any situation that requires urgent or emergency medication, we always recommend being seen in person right away so your pet can get immediate care. On the transfer itself, we took a look and see that your request was submitted on 7/28/2026, and it was called in and processed that same day, 7/28/2026, to the Sam's Club you requested. We truly do care about the pets and people we serve, and we hope your dog is feeling better. If there's anything more we can do, please reach out to us at [email protected].

0 Stars – Absolute Disaster of a “Service”
Do yourself (and your pet) a massive favor and avoid Dutch Vet completely.
I needed a simple prescription transfer so I could fill it somewhere $30 cheaper. What should have taken a day or two turned into a five-day circus. Five. Full. Days. Just to release the damn prescription.
Communication is a complete joke:
Emails? You’re lucky if you get a reply within 24 hours.
Phone? They don’t even bother answering. At all.
It’s like they actively enjoy wasting your time and money while your pet waits. Zero urgency, zero customer care, zero respect for the fact that this is actual medication for an animal.
I will never use them again and I strongly suggest no one else does either. There are better options that actually pick up the phone and move faster than a snail on tranquilizers.

Thank you for the detailed feedback. Looking at the timeline: we received the transfer request from Chewy on 7/23. Transfers typically take 1-3 days depending on how busy the queue is, and requests are handled in the order they come in. You had reached out to us a day earlier, on 7/22, before Chewy's request came through, and we asked for the Chewy order number at that time. On 7/24, we escalated this to our pharmacy team, who called it in on 7/25.
Please keep in mind Dutch isn't meant to replace urgent care needs, if immediate medication is required, we always encourage going in person.

Don’t do any survey promising anything
Don’t do any survey promising anything. Spent almost 45 mins doing one said I won a ten dollar gift card that never came.

My experience after nearly three years with Dutch...
⭐☆☆☆☆ (1 Star)
I was a loyal Dutch customer for nearly three years because I believed virtual veterinary care could make managing my dog's chronic allergies easier and more affordable.
Instead, my experience ended in complete disappointment.
My dog, Oakley, has a chronic skin condition that requires daily medication. When it came time for a prescription refill, I discovered that the medication prescribed through Dutch had no remaining authorized treatment plan. Despite multiple emails with customer support, I was met with lengthy apologies, explanations of company policy, and repeated statements about what they could not do.
What I never received was meaningful assistance.
Every representative assured me they understood my frustration, yet every response simply redirected responsibility to another policy, another department, or another limitation. Meanwhile, my dog was scratching herself raw while I scrambled to find another way to obtain the medication she depends on.
I also found my interactions with the veterinarian assigned to my case to be dismissive and unpleasant enough that they factored into my decision not to renew my membership.
The final straw came after pages of apologetic emails explaining why Dutch could not help. The email concluded with:
*"P.S. Love Dutch? Give your friends four months free!"*
At that point, my dog was suffering because she could not access her medication.
The promotional tagline felt incredibly tone-deaf.
Virtual veterinary care only works if there is continuity of care for pets with chronic conditions. When that continuity broke down, I discovered just how limited the service really was.
After nearly three years as a paying customer, I cannot recommend Dutch to anyone whose pet depends on ongoing prescription management. If your pet has a chronic medical condition, understand that when complications arise, you may find yourself navigating policies instead of receiving solutions.
I sincerely hope Dutch improves its customer service and continuity-of-care process, because pets deserve better than what my dog experienced.

Thank you for sharing this in such detail, and for nearly three years of trust in Dutch for Oakley's care. We're sorry to hear about the breakdown in continuity around her prescription refill, and about the experience with the vet on your case, that's not the standard we want any pet parent to encounter, especially with a chronic condition on the line.
We've reached out here to get more details so we can investigate your account further.
We hope Oakley is doing better now, and we appreciate you taking the time to lay out where things went wrong.

False Advertising
They do not offer 24/7 as advertised. Couldn’t view anything without paying though so didn’t know, and saw many reddit threads talking highly about it. App and website would not let me do monthly payments, so I paid for the year, should have been my first sign to not go through but I did. No appointments for 2/3 days. Scrolled through the months and looks like only 2/3 days of every week is available. Couldn’t get a message back from anyone either. Did not offer a refund after canceling subscription after 2 hrs and currently trying to get ahold of someone to get a refund for the subscription since I will not be using it! Waiting on the phone 20+ minutes.

Thank you for the detailed feedback. We're sorry to hear about the trouble with appointment availability, payment options, and reaching someone for support, none of that reflects the experience we want new members to have.
We've reached out here to get more details so we can investigate this further and make sure you've been refunded for the subscription.

It’s been a week and a half since I had…
It’s been a week and a half since I had a zoom meeting with a vet. I still have no answers regarding my prescriptions. They offered to mail which would take a week so I opted to have them transferred to what they recommend, Costco. I have heard nothing while the “investigate” what happened.
Response from Dutch VetJul 24, 2026
Thank you for the follow-up. I can confirm the prescription transfer was faxed to Costco on July 12th, the same day it was requested. When you reached out on July 18th, we contacted Costco and confirmed it had been ready since that date, they had also sent you a message about it. We replied to your email at that time letting you know it was ready for pickup, but didn't hear back.
You reached out again on July 21st, and we confirmed once more that it was ready and waiting. We haven't heard back since that reply. The medication is under your pet's name at Costco whenever you're ready to pick it up.

Dutch exists solely to try and sell…
Dutch exists solely to try and sell patients prescription drugs within their system, not to provide veterinary care for animals. It’s exactly what’s wrong with our for-profit healthcare system and they’ve found a way to make receiving medical care just as frustrating for pets as humans.
I live in a sort of rural area, and was having a hard time finding a vet to see my dog for a seemingly uncomfortable UTI. I was delighted to get a same date vet visit with Dutch and be able to get her antibiotics as quickly as possible! But the vet was acting sketchy about the process for filling prescriptions. My husband and I explained we lived in a rural area and we would love to get our prescription filled today locally at Costco or Walmart. She was being shifty and saying we would get an email about the process of getting a written prescription. It seemed strange, but I was just happy to get quick care for my dog.
I got the message with the prescription info and how to order it. The quickest it could be delivered with express delivery was four days. For a dog with blood in their urine. That seemed cruel, so I began the very convoluted process of getting the prescription called into Costco.
The form on their website said this takes 2-3 days and you have to pay a $5 fee for your prescription. Is that even legal? Perhaps, but certainly not a way to build trust with patients. A traditional vet would of course be the same day, so I now started to see that I had likely been scammed. Customer support was surprisingly helpful and sent the prescription the same day. Victory! But there’s more.
Costco then called to let me know that the vet had not just prescribed a generic form of amoxicillin, but a very specific brand name which would have to be ordered. They had a different strength of this tablet, but they could not fill the prescription due to the way it was written.
When I reached out to customer support again they told me the doctor would have to write a new prescription and I would have to start the process over. I haven’t heard back from the doctor and my dog will now have to have another sleepless night of discomfort because I trusted a shady vet service.
I will now have to start the process of getting her into a traditional vet on a weekend in a small town all over again tomorrow.
This is what happens when people prioritize capitalism over taking care of animals and their best interest.

Thank you for the detailed feedback. To clarify how Dutch works: we're an online telemedicine service offering prescriptions based on your state's regulations, with a network of licensed vets providing unlimited calls for anything outside of emergency medicine. The membership is $132 for the year and covers up to 5 pets. Medications can be ordered through us or transferred to a local or another online pharmacy.
We're sorry your dog's UTI treatment got tangled up in a prescription rewrite, especially with her discomfort on the line. We do recommend seeking in-person, urgent care when immediate medication is needed, as telemedicine isn't built for time-critical situations like this one.
We hope she's feeling much better soon.
