The Vet visit felt rushed, only 10minutes and had to talk fast to ask and have many questions answered. It seems they want to rush you through and get your prescription so they can grossly overcharge you in their pharmacy, while not being transparent about what’s being sold to you in the cart. You can’t open up the item and see photos about the prescriptions and it doesn’t tell you the quantity you are buying only “one month” or “six month” supply making you have to do the math on the dosage. Save your money, this isn’t a convenient service like I’d hoped. I thought I would receive a prescription and easily buy from another online pharmacy. Instead they funnel you to their pharmacy where they are not transparent and overcharge and then make it difficult to buy from anywhere else. You have to email them and wait a day for a response and then learn you have to jump through hoops to have it approved. Not worth the aggravation, and it’s a shame because I was hoping this would be a good alternative to ordinary vet visits.

Dutch will obstruct and rip you off if you dont pay their elevated prescription prices
I did the 10 min consult and got a prescription for my dog that was fine. they are very expensive on the medications so i placed the order with Chewy. Chewy sent the request for the prescription over electronically 2 times called 2 times nothing. They make money on the elevated prescription prices so they really dont want to allow another pharmacy to fulfil it. 2 hours of phone calls later i finally got them to send the prescription. they added i would have to do this for every occasion. not workable for me every time my dog need ssomehting

Predatory Practices
My dog had a heart condition that was being managed, but ultimately would prove fatal. My primary objective when I obtained a membership in October 2025 was to obtain meds and have a vet to consult when things got tough. Since I knew there was nothing to be done, I did not want to stress my girl by traveling to the ER.
From October til April or May, despite being enrolled in autoship, I would constantly have to ask for meds to ship before I ran out. They charged me $20 for rush shipping, but the package just came in the regular mail, and as I would learn, in the same amount of time as regular shipping. In the spring, they began adding a $7 processing charge to every refill, and shipping every other week. I received 5 refills in 6 weeks. I did not complain about any of this. I just kept accepting the meds and paying.
Around July 1st, I requested my first appt since my initial consult in October. I was unable get an appointment for five days despite explaining i just needed some reassurance. Over the next five days I was spammed by so many AI emails and texts, but couldn't even chat with a person. I tracked down the vet I had originally consulted with and drove 90 miles to her real office. When Dutch spammed me to confirm my appt, I let them know that I couldnt wait for 5 days and would have to explore other options. I also cancelled the appt on their app. I was charged $25 for cancelling and I still didn't complain.
They had been double autoshipping 2/3 of her prescriptions, but the third one I almost ran out of because her vet increased the dosage. They told me I would have to make an appointment with a vet to refill it. Please understand the vet she was seeing in real life and the vet that prescribed via Dutch was the same person and not the problem.
So my dog died, I cancelled Dutch, I told them how disappointing it was to find out in crisis that the service I paid for did not exist. I thought I moved on.
Yesterday, Dutch charged me $105 to refill my dead dog's meds, and then they emailed me. Usually I am spammed with email, that the refill is upcoming, it is processing, etc. No notification until after it shipped and charged me.
I sent Dutch an email asking them how much longer than were going to continue taking advantage of me? Received a typical reply about how my feedback is important, but no confirmation or acknowledgement that my account was cancelled.
I checked their website. Auto renew is turned off of my account. There is no way to remove my saved payments methods, no option to cancel immediately, and they still have more meds scheduled to ship. If this was really a misunderstanding instead of deliberate exploitation of vulnerable people, they may have address my issues instead of offering me as discounted renewal and referral incentives.
I am truly disgusted. I would hate to see anyone view Dutch as a back up resource in a crisis-sort of like a hospice telehealth- only to find out at the worst possible time that 24/7 means sometime this week, and to be advised reporting a dead animal does not stop them from shipping meds, and of course, none of this is refundable.
To recap, $139 membership fee, $7 added to each prescription, $25 cancellation fee- With the exception of the initial consult, all of my interactions were trying to obtain services. This service did not make the process easier or more convenient, instead it added to an already stressful time, as well as nickel and diming me, and I have no idea how to make it stop.

Tracy, first and foremost, we are so deeply sorry for the loss of your girl. Losing a beloved companion, especially one you cared for so devotedly through a difficult heart condition, is heartbreaking, and please accept our sincere condolences during this painful time.
We also want to apologize for all of the frustration you've experienced. That is the last thing anyone grieving should have to carry, and we're truly sorry your interactions added stress rather than easing it. Please know that we've taken steps to make this right on our end: all of your prescriptions have been canceled so nothing further will ship, and the last prescription that went out has been refunded in full. We've also confirmed your account is fully canceled and issued a prorated refund for your membership.
We're sorry that the experience did not live up to what you needed it to be, and we're grateful you took the time to share your story. If there is anything else we can do for you, please reach out to us directly at [email protected].

Worst customer service experience I’ve ever encountered
I got a Dutch account and spoke with the vet to get trazodone for my cat for a move as my cat has severe anxiety on car rides and our move to the new home is about seven hours away. I set up the Dutch account and went through the whole process about a month before my actual move date and my vet recommended taking some time seeing how my cat is reacting to the medication so that I can properly dose them once the actual move happens. I also ordered a diffuser through Dutch along with the trazodone and I received the diffuser about a week later with no medication, even though Dutch was telling me the medication was sent with the diffuser. After dealing with multiple different customer service reps, the truth came out that the medication was never sent due to an issue with not knowing which name of which cat the medication was to be made out for. Nobody from Dutch reached out to get the correct name or to get the order out to me and has dragged their feet on getting the medication finally sent out to me. Then once they got the correct name for the cat they left me in the dark again for a few days and when i contacted them again told me that they had to do an investigation into the whole order which added extra time to my wait. Currently after much frustration and being left in the dark, I’m finally told that the medication is being processed by the pharmacy and will be sent out shortly. I am moving in eight days and they are telling me it can take 4 to 7 days for the medication to show up and I see that it still has not been shipped out and it has been three days since they told me the pharmacy was processing the medication . Dutch is very quick to take your money, but when it comes to actually take care of their customers, they could not care less. I am not usually the type of person to write a bad review about a company as I understand mistakes happen, but this is completely different as it has to do with the well-being of a living creature and the fact that once they took my money. They have done nothing to try to ensure that my cat actually gets what it needs, and I have had to constantly nag them by calling by emailing and by messaging on the app just to get any sort of update on what’s going on at all and pretty much I’m just always told don’t worry we’re taking care of it. I will be extremely surprised if I actually receive the medication before I have to move in which case I spent money with a company that did not provide me with the service that they say they do which to me just goes to show I wasted my money. And we’re at a point now or even if I do receive the medication in time, I don’t know how my Cats‘s going to react to it as I won’t have a trial period To see how they react to it. It’s extremely frustrating to try to plan ahead of time to make sure that if there are any delays, you have some leeway to still get what you need in time, just for the company to screw it up so badly. Needless to say, I will never use this company ever again as I do not support businesses that care only about making a profit and not their customers nor the animals that they claim to be helping.

Thank you for sharing your experience, and we're sorry for the delay and frustration around your order. There were a few issues that affected the timeline: the name on the order wasn't clear for the pharmacy, so we needed to get clarification, and the order was placed for more than the prescription was written for, which added additional time as well. Our team stayed in contact and worked with you throughout the process to resolve it, and we understand you ultimately chose to cancel your membership and received a full refund. We truly care about the pets and people we serve, and we're sorry this visit didn't reflect that. If we can help in the future, we're always here at [email protected].

I tried one call and was mollified by…
I tried one call and was mollified by this "visit" and am experiencing ptsd from the experience. My dog got sicker, and the whole set up is basically a pill mill, distributors of over priced medication The dutch app is useless and impossible to navigate. Can I give them zero stars? I want my money back. How many ways can I spell USELESS.
Response from Dutch VetAug 11, 2026
Thank you for your feedback, and we're sorry to hear this experience left you frustrated. We want to clarify a few things about your visit. Our vet recommended a heartworm test before any medication could be prescribed, which is a standard safety step we take seriously for your dog's wellbeing. We also see that each time you reached out, our team replied and even attempted to call, but we were never able to connect with you, and it appears our email and text responses never reached you. We're sorry for that communication gap, as we truly did try to stay in touch throughout.
We'd also like you to know that we offer a price match on prescriptions: if you send us a screenshot of a lower price from a US-based pharmacy, we're happy to match it. Given all of the issues you experienced, we've gone ahead and escalated your account to cancel your membership and issue a refund in full. If there's anything else we can do, please reach out to us at [email protected], and we'll be glad to help you and your dog.

Worthless liars
Worthless liars. Nearly killed my cat for a kickback from Costco.
Response from Dutch VetAug 7, 2026
We're so sorry to hear about your cat, and we take this seriously. To be clear, we don't receive any kickback from Costco, we recommend them when transferring a prescription simply because they typically carry the widest range of medications outside of ordering directly from us or another online pet pharmacy. We've reached out here to get your email so we can look into what happened. We truly want to understand and make this right.

I do not recommend Dutch Veterinary…
I do not recommend Dutch Veterinary Services. My experience has been extremely frustrating. My dog needed a prescription for cefpodoxime 100 milligrams, and despite multiple phone calls, emails, and messages, I couldn't get a timely response. When your pet needs medication, delays like this are unacceptable. I expected much better communication and customer service, especially from a company that provides veterinary care. Based on my experience, I can't recommend the service and I'm seriously considering canceling my membership. I hope they improve response times and communication so other pet owners don't go through the same thing.
Response from Dutch VetAug 12, 2026
Thank you for your feedback, and we're sorry for the frustration this caused, especially when your dog needed medication. We looked into what happened and want to share some clarity. When the transfer request was first submitted, a preferred pharmacy wasn't specified, which unfortunately delayed the initial processing. Once you provided the pharmacy details, our transfer team completed the request and sent a notification. Because Walgreens didn't have the cefpodoxime in stock, we transferred the prescription to CVS, where it was ready for pickup.
Our transfer team did reach out to let you know, but it appears you didn't receive the message and kept reaching out, which understandably led to the confusion when Walgreens didn't have it on file. We're sorry for that gap, as we never want you chasing updates when your pet needs care. If there's anything else we can do to help get your dog's medication squared away, please reach out to us at [email protected] and we'll make sure you're taken care of.

Take money from scared pet owners in need of emergency for pet would never recommend to anyone!
Needed emergency antibiotic for dogs tooth face swollen while at work get home see him of course vet is closed and we vets are over hour away and pharmacy will be closed so jump online sign up take $157 or more from me then that's when they bring up appointments not till next day almost 20 hrs later. So they do not offer emergency vet care but u don't know this until after u have paid. Ended up going with another company who got meds that night within 1 hour at pharmacy before they closed. Would never use this again why not let people know pet will not be seen for at least 24 hrs do u want to proceed before we take your money? Worthless Telavets really helped us when u are frantic trying to help your baby need help now and they were over $100 cheap than these thieves do not use.

We're sorry to hear about your experience. We understand how stressful it is when your dog is in pain. To clarify, Dutch is an annual telemedicine service for non-emergency needs and isn't intended for emergency care, and this is noted during sign-up. We also don't have a plan that charges $157 or a fee for each appointment, so we'd like to look into that charge for you. Same-day appointments are available most of the time, though availability can vary depending on how quickly our vets' schedules fill up. We've reached out here to get more information so we can investigate what happened with your appointment and your charge.
