I have had to create 3 separate work orders to get a street light bulb replaced. I have paid a monthly fee for the past 25 years for this light, yet they claim to have no record of this light existing. Pathetic customer service.

Duke Energy: At it Again
I am unable to sign in due to "Planned website maintenance." I did not receive an email or any message on my phone alerting me of this "planned maintenance." If you are going to lock people out of the website on a Friday morning for something that is "planned," customers should be alerted at least a week in advance. I got no such message. Also, Friday morning is a terrible time to do "planned maintenance." If this is an outage, the "planned maintenance" message should not be displayed. This is what happens when you do not hire experienced web developers and IT managers. Do better. It is Friday, people are trying to pay their bills. -Sent to Duke Energy today. They just freaking suck. I think there is a solar co-op around here. Do that instead.

Duke Energy Home Protection Plan is Useless
I have the Duke Energy home protection plan and lightning knocked out my 70" TV and an overhead light fixture, both of which are supposedly covered by my protection plan. The strike was so severe it blew concrete blocks out of the side of my chimney and tripped 2/3 of my home circuit breakers. Duke Energy sent out an electrician who confirmed the light fixture and tv were not working but said he was not qualified to determine if lightning was the cause. When I contacted Duke Energy again they said I had to take my TV to a repair service to determine the cause of the failure. The closest service to me is a Best Buy 50 miles away and they charge $125 to do that diagnostic. In all, I paid $650 to replace and install the new TV and $150 to replace and install my light fixture, without any assistance from Duke Energy. This coverage by Duke Energy is not worth the monthly payments I have been making for years and I strongly advise against signing up for it.

Price!!
Is anyone else extremely disappointed that our state and local reps allowed Duke Energy to raise our rates? To be clear, this is a monopoly that they allowed to raise rates in a community that is already humble and modest. I bet that regardless of political affiliation, this resonates with many of you. I think it’s time that we speak up and be there for each other to share our discontent to both our local and state reps but also to the Duke Monopoly.
I have contacted almost every local and state rep and have also sent this same message to Duke Energy. Next week, during business days and hours, I will be following up on my many emails and voicemails to get these weak leaders on the phone and see what sort of back bone they have. I highly encourage all to do the same. United we stand, divided we fall. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Known system malfunction disconnecting service online
A complaint against Duke Energy regarding improper final billing charges for services after my lease and residency ended. I submitted a disconnection request through Duke Energy’s online portal prior to my move-out. However, due to what multiple customer service agents later acknowledged as a known system malfunction, I did not receive a proper confirmation, and my request appears to have been lost.
Duke Energy is now requesting that I re-engage the property management to assume responsibility for the utility—despite my no longer having control of the unit or any agreement with the landlord.
This situation was exacerbated by poor customer service and no disclosure on Duke Energy’s website regarding the system error, depriving the chance to verify or escalate the issue in real time. I believe Duke Energy has acted in a way that is both unfair and potentially negligent in its handling of technical issues and its treatment of customers attempting to resolve honest disputes.

DUKE ENERGY: A SYMPHONY OF GREED MASQUERADING AS A UTILITY
Let it be heard loud and clear: Duke Energy is the corporate face of modern economic crime. A degenerate enterprise, a multinational parasite disguised as a public utility, whose only mission is to drain every last cent from the defenseless citizen. They don’t sell electricity — they sell despair.
While their executives drown in financial cocktails and shareholders swim in obscene dividends, millions are forced to choose between a warm meal and a working lightbulb. This is the energy dictatorship, and Duke Energy is its supreme tyrant.
My personal bill began at $34 and has grown like a malignant tumor in few months: $46, $55, $66, $74… now $89. I’ve changed nothing. I live alone. One lamp. No cooking. No indulgences. I wash my clothes once a week and my sheets once a month, out of fear — not neglect. And yet the price climbs. Why? Because the ogre is always hungry.
Duke Energy has no ethics. No soul. It is a predatory organism armored by laws tailor-made to protect it, greased by the complicity of bought politicians. It is the Kilowatt Cartel.
Did you know they’ve issued billing “corrections” charging up to $400 extra per customer?
Did you know every rate hike is wrapped in euphemistic jargon like “grid maintenance” — while secret deals with tech giants ensure you pay for their server farms?
Did you know that in the middle of this financial hemorrhage, their executives are raking in MILLIONS in bonuses — while you fear washing your towels too often?
This is financial sadism. This is tariff torture. This is economic terrorism with a logo, a headquarters, and shareholders.
And they are not alone. The regulators who should stop them kneel obediently, heads bowed, wagging like trained dogs. Energy commissions don’t serve the people. They serve their master.
And the employees? Wake up. Look in the mirror. Ask yourselves if you want to keep serving this monster. Because when the people awaken, no badge or office will shield you from public shame.
This review is not a complaint.
It’s an act of verbal warfare.
It’s a trench carved in fire.
It’s the vomit of a million empty stomachs.
It’s the final scream of those who have nothing left to lose.
Let the managers resign.
Let the PR mercenaries choke on their lies.
Let the shareholders flee.
Let the stocks plummet.
Let it all collapse.
Because if justice doesn’t crush them, history will.

Shady group of crooks
Duke Energy is the biggest group of crooks I have ever had the misfortune of encountering! Keep track of every penny you pay. I made a payment that they chose not to apply and then they cut my access to my online account thinking I wouldn't notice my $200 vanish in thin cyberspace. When I called in to speak to the web tech they passed me around from department to department hoping I'd give up on the call.
