BEWARE!!!! Do not trust them!!!! These off site (away from airport) car rentals are scammers! Drivo rental car from Newark double charged me for tolls and got away with it. My bank is unable to recover my money. I had to cancel my debit card and request a brand new one. I rented a vehicle from them in May 2026. First of all they pressured me into buying their liability insurance which I later found out is one of their scam tactics. I already purchased insurance through the online service offered from Priceline but Drivo told me I still needed to purchase their liability as well. Additionally in June I noticed a charge on my account from them which I assumed was the tolls but they did not send an invoice so i called them and had to ask why I was charged, after a few hours they finally sent the invoice for my review. I thought all was well and we were done with any upcoming charges well I was wrong…. In July I noticed another charge and after calling they sent me the invoice for my review. Upon reviewing I noticed that all of the toll charges on the invoice in July matched several of the toll charges from June!!!! So essentially I got billed again for several of the exact same tolls with the same date, same time, and same toll numbers. I immediately called them and told them what happened they told me they would have a supervisor call me within 24 hours and to not report the charge to my bank because the supervisor “might” be able to refund me well I was wrong again!!! I called back the very next day (after the charge went through) and they told me there was nothing they can do and they will not refund me… I submitted all my evidence to my bank and my bank tried to recover the funds from their bank but ofcourse their bank is declining to refund me. I am going to continue to fight for what is right but I would like to tell everyone to run as fast as you can away from DRIVO. They are a huge scam and will continue to charge your bank a numerous amount of times and won’t send an invoice/receipt unless you catch the charge and call them and even then they will refuse to refund you even if they charge you twice. They are deceptive scammers! Do not trust them with your business and/or any credit or debit cards! Beware!

DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE! Where is the ZERO when you need it?! They charge for EVERYTHING! I rented a car from them and was charged $200 for a nail in the tire when I actually had to fill up the tire with air from day 1! Charging an expense to the renter for typical road hazard THAT YOU CANNOT SEE & IS UNPREVENTABLE IS RIDICULOUS!!! No one can see a nail in the road in order to even prevent that from happening! THIS IS UNCALLED FOR!!! I will be calling the BBB and disputing this charge with my cc company! If I could give them a ZERO, I would! I'm so angry about this! ABSOLUTELY INSANE!!!

Very disappointing experience with Drivo Rent A Car. Our nine-day rental had a severe cigarette smoke/mildew odor that made two passengers feel sick. We asked for help and offered to drive to another location for an exchange, but were told the vehicle could only be exchanged back at LaGuardia. After escalating the matter, Drivo management reviewed our case. Despite the condition of the vehicle and its impact on our passengers, the final resolution was only a $30 refund. Very disappointing resolution from Drivo after reviewing the circumstances.

I purchased and paid in full on August 6, 2026. For September 23, 2026 arrived at Newark airport at 11 o’clock 1130 picked up my car which I stated when I purchased the agreement drop off is for September 30, 2026 at 2 PM. Which I purchased Info. When I went to Drivo dated a human error …and put my drop off at 11:30 AM. Now I have to stay at the airport for a few hours more. If not, I was gonna get charged more for this service. They will not credit even though I paid in full. Very disappointed with this service..

terrible place they made all the people who came when i was there wait for at least 2 hours and only told them they have no cars available after they waited on line and it was their turn. then when they finally had a car they told me i needed to wait longer because the car was too big and i rented a smaller one after 2 and a half hours they finally gave me a car. then they charged me double and only gave me part of it back after arguing with them for a super long time they sent me an email with an incentive to write a good review because if not they would be out of business they are so bad if you care about your time or money do not rent from them

Calling ahead for booking doesn't do much. The rules change after online or telephone reservations. Even when checking the card types and option to rent without flight information (this location isn't at the airport directly) not everyone is on the same accord. The service doesn't tell you all the fees the have at the end of renting. The limited places you can travel is also not stated until after you book. The SUV had a broken seat panel and the oil pressure signal stayed on the entire trip. Old and after returning the vehicle and seeing the lot. They could have provided a better car. They eat your deposit for a mediocre experience. The staff however we're more efficient in person.

This car rental company is the Spirit Airlines of car rentals. They nickel and dime you for so many extra things that it ends up being more expensive than the higher end rental companies. What should have been a $350 rental ended up being $796. STAY AWAY!!! This company is awful and their customer service is terrible.

They are trying to scam me out of another days rental. Ive shown them receipts from my gas being filled up and also my driving history provided from my Waze app. All clearly show my locations and that the rental was returned to their Newark parking garage 25 minutes before the rental was due back. Spoke to 4 different reps and they all were unable to prove me wrong. One even said 'maybe I gave the car to an airport employee' Wtf are you smoking. They all said they would email me with GPS locations of the rental and days later and they failed to provide me anything with proof that the vehicle wasn't exactly where I returned it to. FRAUD.
