I have been using this software for a long time but one thing annoys me the most is they have update EVERYDAY. Looks like they update the software more frequent than the government. I don't think government changes law every day. Also, they don't update automatically, and you have to manually update almost every day otherwise they won't let you use the software. This is very annoying. Otherwise for the price, the software is good.

I've been using Drake products for a couple of years now and have been reasonably satisfied with the products up until today. Drake has released an updated policy for their Drake Portals Secure File Pro subscription. Basically absolving themselves of any responsibility for holding insurance for data breaches of their own software and putting the onus and requirement on the customers (tax business owners) to name Drake as a named insured on our own insurance policy. I've never heard of a company just blatantly denying any responsibility for their product. "12. Insurance - Drake is not required to carry any insurance including without limitation, commercial general liability, cyber liability, workers' compensation, employers' liability, commercial automobile, and errors and omissions/ professional liability insurance. During the Term, Customer shall maintain, at its expense, policies of the types and with the coverage amounts that are commercially reasonable for Customer's operations and such policies shall include the Drake Indemnitees as additional insureds. Upon request, Customer agrees to provide Drake with a copy of the additional insured endorsement attached to the certificate of insurance on such policies." I'll be searching for other solutions and encouraging everyone else to do the same until this issue is fixed.

Identified a WY state tax problem and the support team placed a trouble ticket because it could not be explained but I never heard back. I had to send back several WY address returns because Drake refused to accept WY. Additionally....This software is NOT user friendly - I wanted Drake to work!

I've parsed Drake for their customer support always answering the phone on the third or forth ring. but this year 2023 I can't get through. they have a automated system with the most annoying music. Getting help was easy but now it's like we got your money now shut up and wait. I love the software 5-star, but the support has gone out the window.

Something happened at Drake Software. This used to be a great company and made a good tax prep software. I had used their software for several years and 90% of the time I was able to get someone competent on the phone for help. However, in the last couple of years, there appears to have been a change in management or hiring practices that has made the company a place to avoid. About a year and a half prior to this review, the customer service fell off dramatically. I needed to cancel a product and I am going on my second month of an email and phone call exchange, entailing at least two to three hours of time - with no resolution in sight. Drake Software should be reminded that it has neither the market share nor the reputation to survive its present mismanagement. Lawyers and accountants share information.

About November I called to compare individual pricing vs the complete package. i was given a number for sales. I got a voicemail and left a detailed message. I have not received a reply yet. In November I called technical support to see if there was an update for client write up. I told the person that I needed after the fact payroll. She told that Drake no longer does payroll. Earlier this month I talked to the sales dept and she gave me the comparison of individual pricing vs the bundle. So I renewed the bundle. After I hung up I looked into the accounting package and saw the after the fact payroll. I called the accounting sales dept and got a voicemail. I left a detailed message with a return phone number. As of today I have not received a call. I wanted to take advantage of the bundle price for the accounting package. This call was made in less than one-half hour of purchasing the tax software package. My cell phone number is 626-497-7696. Respectfully

I have used Drake software since 1998. I'm mostly retired, and using Drake Zero for family returns. This year, I'm trying to file a return with a sale of residence that meets the exclusion requirements, BUT was a rental in the past. I can NOT get the software to compute properly, and Support is NO help. They keep saying they have escalated the matter and someone will get back to me, but no one ever does. First time I've ever been disappointed with Drake :( *Note* - "someone" DID call me back; we connected today - and the problem IS resolved. Thanks!

Between 2019 and 2020 Drake rewrote the software for Ohio cities. It didn't go well. I have never had to complete so many Ohio City returns manually since I started practice. If there are multiple cities, they don't properly calculate the credits. The CCA returns are simply not correct. The RITA returns (Partnership returns) cannot handle rentals in more than one RITA location. I am very disappointed. The Ohio year to year comparison is pointless. PS For years the process of entering information for federal education credits and deductions has been awkward. This should have been corrected years ago.
