The good news is that the fence will work whether the wire is above or below the ground ... as long as it has not been cut, chewed or otherwise broken. If the wire were damaged, you would hear an alarm from the transmitter. Sometimes the wire starts underground and gradually surfaces as the ground changes due to rain, roots, etc. Sometimes the wire is not installed underground because of difficult terrain or landscaping concerns. Check with your local Dealer regarding your options or contact Customer Service at (800)793-3436 x614.

We'd be happy to help with getting your collar replaced. Let your local Dealer know what you need. The collars have a lifetime warranty, so if there is a problem with the receiver, there should be no issue replacing it.
