I was very very very disappointed with the edits i received for my personal statement. First, I did not receive my edits by my "due date and time." (I received it 7 hours later). I had to call and email them trying to find out the status of it. All the edits were made within 10 minutes. I think the money I paid is worth more than 10 minutes of editing! Finally, the actual edits were unhelpful, generalized and opinionated as opposed to constructive criticism. They made 1 comment and just said "as i indicated above, etc" and said the same thing multiple times. I contacted the company about my experience and they said someone would call me back but no one did. I would absolutely not use this service again!

I expected the editor to provide more input. She behaved like my instructor rather than someone paid to edit my document. I chosed the edited option because I need help and not a critic of my paper.

My experience with your company was horrible. I went into the situation looking for constructive criticism to help me clean up my work. Instead I got rude comments and personal belief opinions on my story which had nothing to do with the actual grammar or content editing. Yes, there was normal editing present but the overall attitude was rude, for example stating "not sure if their on drugs here" in a scene about the main character who is a child. This is a middle grade novel and it is pretty clear that my story is for children who I have a great respect for. Other examples are stating that "the ocean is not a person" or saying, "if you say in this life it implies there are past and future lives and unless that is part of the story it should not be used". Clearly the editor was closed minded, very traditionally western and not afraid to make it seem as though that is the only way. That is fine in his personal life, but when working for others on their writing he needs to remain open minded, professional and keep unnecessary personal opinions about life, what is real, etc. to himself. Also in the future I would recommend that you actually set writers up with editors who specialize in whatever genre their writing is in. This was not an editor comfortable or passionate about children's books and that was very obvious in his work. I learned from my bad experience at your company to do better research on the editors I work with and will continue to share my experience with other writers to help them avoid similar situations.
