Offering high quality 3 - 6 day cruises with a maximum of 12 guests on the historic Discovery in beautiful Prince William Sound, Alaska (just south of the largest Alaskan city, Anchorage). We do offer a handful of trips that incorporate Denali National Park as well. Prince William Sound encompasses 3,800 miles of coastline to explore via kayak and foot. The Sound is home to the densest concentration of tidewater glaciers in the world, containing 50 glaciers and 17 tidewater glaciers (touching the ocean), known for dramatically calving huge ice chunks into the sea. Enjoy spectacular views from sea level up to 13,000 ft mountain peaks. More than 220 species of birds (and around 200,000 seabirds summer in the Sound), along with 30 species of land mammals, and at least a dozen marine mammal species make this area quite special. Resident marine mammals include humpback, sei, fin, minke, killer whales, and dall's porpoise as well as Steller sea lions, harbor seals, and sea otters. In western Prince William Sound, black bears may be seen on narrow beaches and are most often seen fishing when the salmon are spawning.

Absolutely spectacular small boat Alaskan cruise. Incredible staff, wonderful food, and a skipper who knows where to go to see and experience the best of Prince William Sound. We would take it again in a heartbeat!

I can’t overstate how positive a travel experience this was. My husband and I were traveling with another couple for our first time in Alaska in June 2017. My husband gets violently seasick on open waters so most cruises were not an option. I’m so glad that we discovered Discovery. We only had 9 days and we wanted to see Denali and Sitka as well as some glaciers so we took the 3 day version of The Discovery Classic Voyage. It was perfect. Prince William Sound is a magical place. No big cruise ships or huge commercial vessels passed us. Just us and the wildlife and the gorgeous landscape. A whale swam alongside and under our boat. There were sea otters sunning on rocks so close you could smell them. We watched bears catching and eating salmon on the nearby shore. There were powerful binoculars provided so we saw this in close detail. We got off the boat for one hike on one day and to kayak on another. The kayak experience was peaceful and inspiring. The water was mirror like; you could see the sea creatures just below and hear the glaciers calving. The boat sleeps 16; the four of us, one other extended family and four crew. It was surprisingly comfortable given the size and the shared bath. They provided all the waterproof gear for hiking and kayaking so all you need are clothes that layer. The owners (Captain Dean and his wife Megan) thought of everything and made us feel like treasured guests they welcomed into their home. Megan is an amazing cook; she asked for everyone’s food allergies/restrictions ahead of time and managed to come up with multiple entrees and snacks and desserts that used Alaskan specialties. Dean raised his children on the houseboat and has a wealth of knowledge about Prince William Sound which he loves to share. The other two crew members were also knowledgeable and passionate. We all learned so much just from hanging out and watching and listening and asking questions. So much better than a traditional “tour”. So personal. The crew has love and respect for the habitat. We didn’t feel like interlopers encroaching on the wild inhabitants. Truly a magical experience.

we had an amazing experience with Dean and his family on our trip several years ago. Great hosts with lots of local knowledge, a small intimate group where we could hike and kayak during the day. Anchoring in small bays over night with excellent food and discussions during the evening. highly recommend
