We went to Punta Cunta for our friend’s wedding. When we got into Punta Canta and we were trying to figure out transportation, we struggled for at least an hour to find someone. Mimi was no help and did not provide us with much information. Our biggest issues were the lack of communication for transportation to and from the airport. When we were trying to setup our transportation the night before (as it suggested you do), no one was in and could not set it up (it was about 4pm). So we got up to take care of it in the morning (8am), they told us we would be leaving at 12:45pm. 11am comes and they are calling our room asking where we are that they are leaving. We explained to them what we were told, so they leave. 12:45pm comes around and they say we are not on their list. It was very frustrating but luckily, we vouched for ourself as well as other members of our group did too. But it should not be that difficult or stressful. Also, before our trip if I reached out to Mimi, she never responded. The resort was beautiful, the wedding was beautiful but the lack of communication was unreal. I know others in our group had similar issues with her as well.

Disappointed
Felt sorry for the Bride and Groom
Getting pricing to attend the wedding if you wanted something different then a standard room was time consuming. There was rooms listed on the Destination Website that were not offered by the resort and/or called something different. Seemed like they provided cookie cutter information. Micheal and Heather Whittle did little for us in answering questions.
We ended up contacting the resort ourselves to get answers and booking extra features the resort offered.
The Bride had family travelling from out of province to the departure airport. There was no assistance in offering multiple departure spots, and when the departure time of the flight changed the family members had to also make alternate arrangements to get to the departure city.
There were discrepancies with information that appeared on travel information. We had to ensure ourselves with the resort ourselves that the information was in fact correct.
Would not recommend. Agents seem to book the trip, send out cookie cutter emails and offer no personal attention to your big day.

I booked through DW more than 12 months…
I booked through DW more than 12 months ago for my vow renewal. I had 44 guests attending at three Magestic Mirage Punta Cana,DR. Everyday a guest arrived there was a room issue. I was constantly pulled away from my family to try and help with room issues. I felt as if I worked there. It was hard to get into contact with someone from DW as the service there isn't great and when I did speak to someone I don't even know if it helped! Management at this resort is no help and not accommodating at all. The food isn't great and many of us ended up sick. If I was booking a wedding again I definitely would not choose this resort even though the wedding coordinator at the resort did a great job. DW represents this resort and they need to do better job sorting out the issues. I've complained to DW about my issues at the resort and have yet to hear from them. If your booking a large group just book through the resort!

If you care about your guests, don’t use!
I don’t know how their service is with the couple and family, but if you care about your guests, stay clear of this company!
Our agent, DeAna, is quite possibly the most incompetent sales person and customer service representative I’ve ever dealt with in any capacity. She will go weeks without returning emails or phone calls, and then will randomly call you 10 o’clock at night after the issue is resolved by other means. If you need to make any changes to your reservation that may include an extra cost, you won’t be told upon speaking with them, but they will spring an email on you at and 1pm or even 4:48(!) and ask that you pay the cost in full by 5 PM or you will lose your entire reservation that you already paid thousands for. This has happened twice with me while working with DeAna. I’m giving it two stars for now because I haven’t actually experienced the wedding, but after working with DeAna for several months now, it has already been a major headache that makes me want to drop out of the wedding all together. But I certainly won’t do out of respect for the couple.

Hi Sonnet, we regret to hear of your experience with DeAna thus far and would like the opportunity to intervene and ensure any discrepancies are cleared up prior to your departure next month. We are committed to providing excellent service and will certainly follow up with DeAna about her response times. Regarding your payment deadlines, you should be receiving automatic reminder emails to prepare you for your due date, which is also listed on your confirmation email and ongoing invoices. Please reach out directly if you wish to discuss your experience further and we're happy to assist - [email protected]. Thank you!

It has been an experience but the…
It has been an experience but the ladies I worked with were extremely helpful and answered every question I messaged them in a timely manner. Would recommend to others!
I would actually like to adjust my review my initial experience was wonderful however as we get closer and closer to the wedding it hasn’t been all that great. The company that they use for the wedding coordinator/planner is actually awful. They don’t respond in a timely manner if at all it’s two months before our wedding and we haven’t even begun to plan. We recently switched wedding planners and this person is just as bad as the last. They keep saying it’s covid but how can you plan a destination wedding with zero to no communication. It has made the experience less than appealing and downright stressful. I have people flying in from all over the country spending thousands of dollars with literally no plan.
However our room coordinator has been wonderful! Carmen has exceeded my expectations and has assured me that everything will work out in the end. She has been the only one who has consistently answered questions and kept me updated. I appreciate her and she is a valuable asset to the company if it wasn’t for her I might have cancelled 5 months ago.

Wouldn't recommend
Not sure if she still works there, but do not use Jennifer Maynard. My guests had to repeatedly call/email her in order to get responses and she was horrible at providing information in a timely or thorough manner. I had to stay on her and follow-up with her in order to try and get correct information. I wouldn't recommend using DestinationWeddings.com if the travel agents/specialists are all like Jennifer.

I started my destination wedding crying my eyes out, MORTIFIED that my guests received such poor service from a company I selected and told them they could trust
It's stressful enough planning a wedding, let alone a vacation for 60+ of your closest family and friends. Which is why we decided to use so-called 'experts' destinationweddings.com to alleviate/put at arms length some of the stress and awkwardness of handling the travel bookings. Using destinationweddings.com would come to be our ONLY regret.
From the start, our guests complained to us about being unable to reach our DW representative, Ingrid. It was a red flag, and exactly what I DIDN'T want to happen - me having to intervene on several bookings to get answers. But at that point, we had already left our deposit, sent out our invites...No turning back.
I did my best to pick up the slack by giving ur guests all the information they needed - which sections they could book in, pricing etc. because Ingrid was not conveying the information herself. We specifically picked a resort that had an 'Adults Only' and a 'Family Section' to accommodate the preferences of our diverse group of guests, and with great effort and several emails back and forth, I implored her to please give our guests these options and prices before they finalized their bookings. She agreed to, but I would learn the hard way that this did not occur...
One month out from the wedding, when my fiance and I got our travel documents by email, there was no mention of 'Adults Only' section on our paperwork. I immediately wrote to Ingrid, asking if she consciously hadn't put us in that section (despite the fact that we asked) because we would already qualify for an upgrade, being the wedding couple... Not the case...Our wedding perks would have only given us a nicer 'family section' room. So we paid extra to upgrade, which was well above our original booking rate because our quote had already expired by then.
Fast forward to 24-hours before travel, I started receiving panicked calls and messages from several of our guests that when they tried to check in for the flight, but they were paired with a complete stranger on their booking. Luckily, we recognized the 'strangers' as other guests of ours, but it was embarrassing none-the-less that the couples and families were not listed together. I'm not sure if this was an error on the part of Destination Weddings or our Tour operator 'Air Transat'. Either way, we were not off to a good start...
The day we arrived at the resort, the incompetency of DestinationWeddings.com came to a head. We had just put our bags down in our room when we were called down to the front lobby, where several furious guests were complaining to hotel staff about being in the wrong section (ie. not the adults only section, as they thought they had booked). It turns out, Ingrid hadn't even given them the option of booking in Adults Only. We got her on the phone, and she was no help, so we had to barter with the hotel directly to negotiate an upgrade price for those willing to pay (which once again, was WELL above our original quoted rate for AO). I started my destination wedding, crying my eyes out in the lobby of our hotel, MORTIFIED that my guests received such poor service from a company I selected and told them they could trust.
I wish our trouble with DestinationWeddings.com ended there...After our guests left, my now husband and I had booked our 'honeymoon' through DestinationWeddings.Com at a different resort (same tour operator) for a change of scenery. We checked out of our wedding resort and found our local travel rep to find out what time our shuttle/transport to the next resort would arrive. There was no shuttle or any transportation arranged by DestinationWeddings.com. We'd have to find our own way. So we paid for our own $45 cab.
We arrived at the new resort where they were surprised to learn it was our honeymoon. I mean, COME ON? We negotiated with the hotel to add a 'honeymoon' package to our room - after they had already tried to upsell us on a better section of the resort because, surprise, surprise, we were booked in the lowest-class section of the resort, having been given NO other options by our DestinationWeddings.Com agent, Ingrid.
Boasted as a 'free planning service', you could say that 'you get what you pay for' with DestinationWeddings.com, but as I suspected early on - NOTHING in this world is free. I asked our agent early on in the process how their fee structure works because I wanted to be fair! She SHOULD get paid for having to deal with my relatives...I just didn't want their hidden fee coming out of my guests pockets! She avoided the question, so I tried my best to reverse engineer how they get their fee. When I looked at the 'group booking' perks that were offered directly by our tour operator 'Air Transat', we would have received '1 free passenger' for every 10 booked, to a maximum of 4 (I think per departure city, which we had 2 different departure cities). With DestinationWeddings, they passed along the savings of 3 passengers, so they essentially made their money by taking '1-2 free passenger' reimbursements, plus any other amounts they negotiated directly with hotels/service providers. Anyways, it didn't come out of my guests pockets, so that was fine, and I was fine 'paying' for work that had been done, but as a paying customer, I cannot stress enough how disappointed we were with this service. There was absolutely no care, consideration or pride in the work.
If you are a bride considering booking your wedding trip through DestinationWeddings, not only do I NOT RECOMMEND, I strongly dissuade you from using DestinationWeddings.com.
