I’m very disappointed with the experience we had working with Susan Wolf with Destination Weddings for our destination wedding.
Unfortunately, there were several mistakes throughout the planning process. Our rooms were forgotten and there were issues with the room arrangements, transportation was not handled correctly, and there were repeated problems that should have been resolved before the wedding.
What made the experience especially frustrating was the lack of communication. We had difficulty getting callbacks and follow-ups, and many times we felt like we were left to figure things out ourselves. When you are planning a destination wedding, especially for a group of family and friends traveling from different places, you expect the details to be handled carefully and problems to be addressed promptly.
There were simply too many things that went wrong, and the lack of follow-through added unnecessary stress to what should have been a very special and exciting experience.
I hope this feedback helps improve communication, organization, and attention to detail for future couples and their guests.

Brides and Guests Should Think Twice Before Booking
I would strongly caution brides and wedding guests against using Destination Weddings. Based on my experience, the service was extremely disorganized, communication was painfully slow, and the level of service did not come close to justifying the prices.
I was a guest at my best friends wedding and Indra was my respresentative. The original hotel the bride had booked with them turned into an adult only resport and they moved the entire wedding to a differnt property. I had issues from the beginning with getting my room request properly handled. What should have been a simple request turned into a frustrating process that took weeks of back-and-forth communication. It was very difficult to get clear answers, and I repeatedly felt like I was having to follow up to get things resolved.
Unfortunately, the problems continued once I actually traveled. I had pre-paid for airport transportation through Destination Weddings, and they sent me a link requesting my flight information. I completed the information they requested, but apparently the submission did not go through, however i had no idea this had occured. I fully ackowledge this was more than likley my fault, The biggest issue wasn't that there was a technical problem, those things happen. The problem was that no one followed up with me before my flight to confirm that my transportation had actually been arranged. No call to say they had no recieved my information and make sure it was covered. That is exactly what these type of services should do.
As a result, I arrived at the airport expecting a pre-paid pickup that had supposedly been arranged, only to discover that there was no transportation waiting for me. I was left at the airport having to figure who we had paid transpotation with, find the kiosk, and make multiple calls to figure out who had a "code" to get us trasnportation. Honestly I was going to pay for a new form of transportation, but what they charged was outrageous.
For something as important as a destination wedding, this is unacceptable. Brides and their guests should not have to spend their travel days wondering whether basic arrangements have actually been made.
Throughout the entire process, communication seemed to take weeks, and the overall experience felt incredibly unorganized. When you are paying the prices Destination Weddings charges, you expect a higher level of communication, organization, and customer service.
Unfortunately, my experience was that the prices were expensive while the service was mediocre at best.
My advice to future brides and wedding guests is to do your research before booking through Destination Weddings and seriously consider booking your accommodations and transportation directly through the resort/hotel and reputable transportation providers instead. I wish I had.
A destination wedding is already stressful enough without having to chase down the company that is supposed to be coordinating the details. I am sharing this review because I would hate for another bride or guest to have the same experience I did.

A nightmare of an experience!
From the beginning the experience was less than desired. I travel a lot. Have taken many cruises as well as trips out of the country and this trip fell way below my expectations.
I originally asked for a swim up room in the family category. Amy Cate told me it was not available for my dates. I then screen shot her the room I wanted available on a travel website. So I get the excuse that they play by different rules. Then I have to send her a link to the resorts website to show her that the room I wanted is available for my dates. It was at this point that I no longer wanted to work with her.
Unfortunately since this was for a wedding I felt as though I had no other choice. The day of the wedding she contacted the bride about an issue with my son's room instead of handling it herself. Because of this I did not feel comfortable expressing my concerns while at the facility, as I did not need her doing anything else to ruin the brides special day.
As I stated in my email to Amy after returning home from the wedding, the place was far from a luxury resort. The room had an awful smell when we got there. It smelled like mildew. Our trundle bed was not prepared and after several attempts to call, I finally went to the front desk to ask that it be pulled down for us. ( I found out the guests in the adults only side had a butler that they could text, we did not have this option) We had a meet up and dinner that night. When we arrived back to the room ready for bed, there was no bedding on the trundle bed. My husband ended up laying on it using a towel as a blanket. I was sick that night throwing up from eating the room temperature food at the buffet that day. I had to get up the next day and go to my daughter's wedding feeling terrible and exhausted. I really wanted to leave that next morning and go home , but could not as it was the wedding day. I got through the wedding but was scared to eat much that day and didn't even have wedding cake.
The next day I picked at some food and would have loved to have some indoor activities because it was so hot and I still didn't feel good, but they didn't have anything I could find. Everywhere I went was so hot , I was miserable. I took a hand fan into the restaurants to try to keep from sweating.
After another day of misery we decided to pay to change our flights and leave a day early. When we told the front desk they never even asked why.
Once I got home I explained my experience to Amy and asked for a refund since we left early. She seemed sympathetic and said she would see about it. In the mean time I had left an honest review of her service and it got back to her. She then emailed me letting me know she got confronted by her VP about the feedback and then was no longer helpful in getting and refund. I would think a reputable company would try to at least get a refund for the night not stayed (if not more) for the terrible experience. Anyway, since then I have taken other measures to get some money back only to be met with more lies from the resort and your company. This has truly been the worst travel experiences of my life, not to mention leaving a scar on what should have been a special day for me and my daughter.
In addition, when I reached out to Amy after returning to talk about a refund, she then went and told my daughter about it causing her to get upset again. This should never have happened.
I would never recommend working with this company and whatever you do, do not book a stay at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres in Cancun. It is a total tourist trap!

I had an extremely poor experience with…
I had an extremely poor experience with Destination Wedding and our assigned travel agent, Alexandra.
Alexandra was largely unresponsive to anyone except the bride, which caused unnecessary stress for the entire wedding party. Emails and messages routinely went unanswered for weeks at a time, leaving guests without critical information about their travel.
She failed to double-check bookings until just days before departure. At that point, she informed me that my last name was missing from my booking — and then ghosted me for four days. Because of this delay, I was forced to pay an additional $600 for a name change that could have easily been avoided with timely communication.
Payment handling was also disorganized. After submitting my payment form, I was not charged for over two weeks with no explanation or confirmation, adding more confusion and concern.
When our flight was cancelled due to weather, Alexandra again became completely unresponsive. As a result, many of us had no choice but to purchase new flights on our own just to make it to the wedding. To make matters worse, she did not verify return flights, and several guests discovered they had no flight home at all. Multiple bookings also contained incorrect passenger names.
Additionally, the wedding party was supposed to travel together, but we were booked on the wrong flights and separated. This led to last-minute scrambling, stress, and logistical chaos right before the wedding — something no couple or wedding party should have to deal with.
Alexandra repeatedly disappeared during critical moments, leaving the bride to manage crises she should never have had to handle. Overall, this was awful service, extremely stressful, and completely unacceptable for a destination wedding company.
I would not recommend Destination Wedding or Alexandra to anyone.

UPDATED REVIEW: Could be better and room for improvement.
We worked with DestinationWeddings.com and our assigned agent Tanika for our destination wedding. While the hotel research and venue connection were strong and pricing overall was fair, there have been serious booking and billing issues. I actually want to give a 2.5 stars.
Room Booking Issue (twice):
A guest booked a Basic Junior Suite as advertised but was later charged for a higher-priced Tropical View Suite with the basic suite title. We were told the Basic Junior Suite on the adults-only side is unavailable—yet it is still listed as available on the Destination Weddings website. This is misleading. The guest booked in good faith and was later blindsided by a higher charge. These issues have been resolved but should have never happened, much less happen twice.
Promotional Credit & Deposit Issue:
We were advised our group rate deposit would not be applied until all guest rooms were paid, yet it was applied anyway despite not all guests having completed payment. This contradicts what we were told.
Additionally, our signed contract clearly states that the Destination Weddings promotional credit (up to $2,500) is to be applied to the couple’s room invoice at final payment, with any overpayment refunded. At minimum, we qualified for $1,250, but there was no documentation showing the credit was applied before the deposit was used. Instead, the deposit was applied first, effectively eliminating the promotional benefit without notice—not consistent with the contract.
We were also told that credits are issued after the wedding, but hotel-issued perks and the Destination Weddings promotional credit are separate. The latter is explicitly contractual and meant to be applied at final payment.
We are still dealing with this issue with Tanika being dismissive of my understanding of the contract. We have not come to a resolution yet which I hope to soon. But I am not keen on working with Tanika anymore. I’m worried because of these issues, if we even have our rooms booked properly.
With our wedding 2.5 months away, these inconsistencies have caused unnecessary stress. Destination Weddings has strengths, but the lack of transparency around room availability, deposits, and contractual credits makes it difficult to recommend without strong caution.
I would be willing to revise my review if we come to a strong resolution to these issues because it would show me that despite these problems, they are willing to make things work for our benefit. I don’t expect perfection but I do expect good customer service and strong problem solving, instead of short replies and dismissive tones.
8/7 UPDATE: If I could give them 0 stars, I would!! Come my wedding week, a couple of my guests had trouble checking into their rooms and ended up in the wrong rooms at higher prices! When I tried to get help, Tanika said to “reach out to the emergency line” and stopped responding completely. The help also didn’t do anything either!! Now it’s been 3+ months since my wedding and we still haven’t received our reconciliation credits and promotional offers that was promised! We will be getting a lawyer and SUING destination weddings for withholding our refunds/credits as well as overcharging a couple of my guests for basic rooms! DO NOT USE DESTINATION WEDDINGS!!

Hi Havanna, we appreciate you voicing your concerns and understand you've been working with our Customer Relations on a resolution. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and wish you the best. Please continue to keep in touch leading up to your wedding date and let us know if you need further assistance.
Hi again Havanna, we regret to hear of your update and take your comments to heart. Our accounting team advised that one of the guests has a pending dispute open with their credit card company which is causing the delay for the full group refund that is due to you. Our teams are escalating this situation so that you can expect the remaining funds to be delivered within 72 hours. Our customer relations team will be reaching out to discuss further to ensure you understand the disrepancy that happened. Best wishes.

I was working with Holly in late 2025 with Destination Weddings. After Christmas, I never heard from her again.
Don't recommend — no communication, no responsiveness and very little info provided when I was working with her closely.

disappointing experience
The arrangement started off well and we were happy to have the ability to subsidize the costs of our guests, which our venue/resort did not offer. However, the tide quickly changed once we signed the contract, and there became lots of pressure on our wedding guests to pay quickly, almost 5 months in advance, and to purchase travel insurance just to extend the payment deadline. They also tried to add in undisclosed costs to our guests room rates for things like transportation, which we never asked for. There were unreasonable timelines to pay deposits, and sneaky tactics like making our guests upgrade to bigger, more expensive rooms simply for having a baby, which should not count toward room capacity imo. Super disappointed with the arrangement.
Response from DestinationWeddingsDec 15, 2025
Hi Victoria, we appreciate you voicing your concerns and are happy to reiterate the contract terms that state there is a (small) deposit due within 30 days of signature in order to reserve rooms within the group block. And, airport transfers are typically included in the travel package but can be removed if you wish. Your Specialist should/would have explained this prior to you signing the contract. Nonetheless, we apologize this caused frustration. Regarding the room occupancy restriction, that is put in place by the resort and unfortunately we have no control over those policies. Our Customer Service team is in receipt of your comments and will be reaching out to discuss your feedback further. Thanks for your understanding.
