False Advertising and Unethical Business Practices
Destination Weddings handled my room block for my wedding in Playa Del Carmen. We had to reschedule our wedding date once, but ultimately had our ceremony 3/6/21. We were promised a credit back in the form of a credit card refund or check based on our travelled rooms and a Destination Weddings promotion. It's been over 4 months and we have not received any refunds - just the run around. Additionally, one of our guests had to cancel their reservation on 1/26/21. They purchased insurance and still have not received a refund - 6 months later. Our travel specialist, Dan Smith, continues to tell us and our guests that the issues are being worked on, but no resolution. The agency was little to no help. We've had to sidestep Destination Weddings on many occasions - selecting a hotel, finalizing our contract, rescheduling our wedding date, working on refunds - we have had to contact the hotel directly every step of the way. It would have been easier to work with the hotel directly.

Still waiting on a refund from 2/3/21
Still waiting on a refund from 2/3/21. I was told it would be 90 days bc of COVID delays. Not sure how processing an electronic refund has anything to do with COVID. Sure were quick to take our money, but can’t process a refund? Severe lack of communication. They stole hundreds of dollars from us. Do not use!
Response from DestinationWeddingsJun 1, 2021
Hi Olga, we regret to hear your frustrations and are committed to escalating your refund request with our supplier. Unfortunately the current pandemic continues to greatly impact all aspects of the travel industry, where processing an unprecedented number of refunds is still a very manual process, and the merchant of record (Travel Impressions) has full control of releasing your funds. Both teams are working diligently to expedite this process to ensure all travelers receive their funds as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and if you haven't already, please feel free to reach out to our Customer Relations Team at the link below to work with a Supervisor directly: https://www.destinationweddings.com/WhyChooseUs/ContactUs.aspx
Thank you!

‼️DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY‼️
‼️DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY‼️
I'm very hesitant to leave businesses a bad review, however, using DestinationWeddings.com to book the group for our wedding in Cancun was the absolute worst experience all the way around. Terrible customer service and lack of communication with minimal effort whatsoever throughout our entire experience, which ended in our WEDDING GETTING CANCELLED 2 DAYS BEFORE, due to Hurricane Delta!
As if a couple needs more on their plate after going through that, there was little to no communication regarding our options or helpful next steps and we have been fighting to get refunds since October! Not due to Covid delays either. This company only cares about money in their and the resort's pocket, nothing about a couple's wedding getting ripped out from under them and their entire group's travel plans ruined. After three months of waiting on refund status, since we had purchased travel protection, our "specialist" communicated our refunds would be processed and returned (this was in Jan) Here we are Mid-April and the company is saying it was an "error" and our group will only be given credits to use before the end of THIS year, but not guaranteed our original rate!!
This company will not have your group's best interest in mind and will go back on their word, if you can get them to communicate. I highly recommend looking for a travel agency local to your area who will be clear and helpful every step of the way, one who will communicate effectively and treat your group as if they were part of it. A company that cares! Destination weddings.com is NOT that company.

In these hard times
In these hard times, we're expecting a full refund from the company due to airlines being shut down completely. Instead of trying to find a way of reimbursement, we are being constantly updated for scenarios to bypass this pandemic and continuously having false hope of our awaited holiday. It's not write to keep our money hostage especially during this pandemic.

Khirby, we regret to hear of your frustrations while working with us, and are committed to reviewing your situation in further detail to do all we can in coming to a beneficial resolution. I wish I could give this company 0…
I wish I could give this company 0 stars. I have been trying now for two weeks to speak with someone from customer service to resolve an issue I am having with a friend's upcoming wedding. I believe they are waiting as long as possible to respond so it is too late to remedy a solution. Terrible customer service, pandemic or not.
Response from DestinationWeddingsApr 6, 2021
Hi Devorah, we regret to hear of your experience and are committed to resolving your issues as quickly as possible. Unfortunately the pandemic continues to cause an extremely high volume of inquiries both via email and phone, and our small team of representatives are feverishly working extra hours to assist everyone as best they can. Your comments have been escalated to a Supervisor to look into further. We wish you the best and appreciate your patience. Thank you.

A family member planned a destination…
A family member planned a destination wedding for 12/12/2020 so I booked a trip to attend with the group. Latrice was our "destination wedding planner" (and I use that term very lightly) I paid for travelers insurance and my trip on time. I was told on 12/7/2020 that I was exposed to COVID and had to self quarantine. I called the travel agent immediately and let her know that I will have to cancel my trip. I was told that I would receive a refund for my trip (minus the traveler's insurance) in 60 days. I informed her on 2/5/21 that I had not yet received the refund. She did not messaged me back until on 02/12 stating that she would check with accounting. I did not hear from her, so I emailed on 2/19 to check status again. No answer. I messaged her again on 2/24/21. She responded back on 2/26 stating that she looked into it and that it showed pending which was not much help but..ok. On 3/1 she stated that if I did not receive a refund by 3/3/21 to let her know. Of course I did not receive it on that day so I messaged her on 3/3 (around 2 pm) to let her know. I did not get a response so I messaged her again on, 3/9. No response. And again on 3/25 to let her know that I did not receive it. I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A STATUS UPDATE OR MY REFUND. I have also left a voicemail message at 617-459-5070 and have yet to receive a call back. At this point I am frustrated and not sure what else to do. Not only am I out 700.00 but I didnt even get to experience the moment with my family.

Worst decision ever! Please, find the time to read this review.
Misleading, money-hungry, poor communication, non-existent customer service could be fittingly listed under Destination Weddings' “Why Choose Us” tab. Do yourself a favor, learn from our mistake and nightmare experiences, and book directly through your desired resort. Our resort offers free cancellations with a full refund up to 24 hours before your arrival date because they understand we are amid a pandemic. Contrarily, Destination Weddings is offering a TRAVEL VOUCHER for guests who purchased the "Cancel-For-Any-Reason" Insurance (CFAR) – what a deceptive name. Btw, our wedding was booked BEFORE Covid. I’ve read multiple Destination Weddings’ replies to negative reviewers that the “resort will not issue a refund to the guest,” therefore, they can't. Well, what’s the excuse now, Destination Weddings? Our resort offers refunds, and more importantly, 99% of our guests have travel insurance. Unbeknownst to us, Destination Weddings goes through ANOTHER travel operator to book the rooms – FYI, you are not just dealing with a 3rd-party vendor (DW) but also a 4th-party vendor who is just as inflexible, slow to respond, and references misleading information in an effort to keep your hundreds and thousands of dollars should you need to "cancel for any reason." I would love to be forwarded the receipts of you “advocating on my behalf” to the “supplier” to help get my guests their money back, Destination Weddings - not copying and pasting part messages from an enigmatic 4th-party vendor to indicate your hands are tied. One of my intended guests who contracted Covid is currently in the hospital relearning to walk and talk, but even they should have woken up from sedation and a VENTILATOR to cancel 60 days before the wedding (for a refund) despite having the "cancel-for-any-reason" insurance??? I booked with DW in early 2019 (pre-Covid) based on the false hope listed on their site about making our travel plans “easy and stress-free” – absolute turmoil and a hellish nightmare would be more accurate descriptors. We initially decided to move forward with our Feb 2021 wedding despite the rampant Covid cases in Cancun. However, travel restrictions effective Jan 26, announced on Jan 12, completely changed our guests’ outlook on traveling abroad. Guests didn’t feel comfortable risking being stuck in another country for 14 days when they have jobs and children to return home to - rightfully so. Those who requested a refund from DW were informed because they didn’t cancel 60 days before the travel date, they were only eligible for a travel credit to be used by Dec 2021, not a refund. Those new travel restrictions and when they were released were not in our control, nor is Covid. How would anyone have known to cancel in Nov/Dec based on unforeseen travel regulations that weren’t released until Jan 12 (shortly before our Feb 2021 wedding)? Had the travel regulations been released, in say, October and guests then waited until January to cancel, I would understand the 60-day clause, but that is not what happened; it was Jan 12 for a Feb wedding. Then, to state, a travel credit issued in Feb-Mar 2021 must be used by Dec 2021??? Make it make sense. Why are we held responsible for the unknown and obviously absurd, uncaring terms agreed upon by a 3rd - 4th party vendor and resort? These terms of forcing travel credits amid a pandemic allude Destination Weddings does not value consumers' safety or well-being or the possible financial strains guests may be facing by refusing to refund their money for a wedding they cannot attend for reasons beyond their control. Basically, you are being forced to travel this year during the fluctuating, Covid-spiking pandemic or lose your hundreds-thousands of dollars in travel credit because you don't want to end up sick (or worse), risk being stuck in Mexico for 14 days, can't travel now due to new work regulations (brought on by the updated travel restrictions), or simply because an alternate date conflicts with your schedule. Due to this ridiculous travel credit fiasco, we thought maybe we could postpone until Aug 2021 to prevent some guests from being out of hundreds of dollars, after all, they were only traveling through DW because of us. Two months later, I don’t have any new booking information, guests are contacting us because our TA isn’t responding to them, and I can’t get an update, reply from customer service, or the higher-ups’ contact email to escalate this beyond my TA (who has not given me her supervisor's contact information). And before it is so casually suggested, I have already reached out to Customer Relations via DW “Contact Us” link numerous times AND have left multiple voicemails weeks apart. The number of responses to those inquiries? ZERO. You’ve been warned.

Hi Mel, we understand and sympathize with the unforeseen challenges of COVID-19 and the global impact it continues to have. As most travel agencies do, we work with wholesalers who provide exclusive inventory and special rates for group room blocks at preferred resorts, and these resorts negotiate their own terms and conditions with these wholesalers (also referred to as suppliers) that we are beholden to. Although our team does ask for exceptions whenever possible, the resort has the right to deny these requests based on their contracts. We do apologize for the delay in communication as our small team of service representatives continues to work feverishly around the clock to get to every inquiry as quickly as possible. We see a member of our Customer Relations Team has followed up with you to further assist with any outstanding matters and to ensure the end of your planning process goes as smoothly as possible. We appreciate your patience and grace during this time.

Destination Weddings Travel Group…
Destination Weddings Travel Group Review of Carol Behne Wedding Date: 11/28/2020 I was a guest for a destination wedding that had to be rescheduled due to COVID. Carol Behne was our main point of contact. In September 2020, she sent out emails reassuring that all guests would receive refunds due to the fact that the wedding had to be rescheduled to take place during hurricane season. Refunds varied from $100-$1000, depending on the guest’s duration of stay. Here we are, in March of 2021, and still no refunds, even after multiple inquiries about them. If it wasn’t so much money, I’d write it off as a bad business transaction. But when a business promises, in writing, to provide refunds, it’s disappointing and appalling when they don’t follow through. Makes me wonder if Carol didn’t just pocket the money herself. She seems to have no clear answers for any of us. Maybe the business itself isn’t bad, but I definitely wouldn’t trust Carol Behne to be my point of contact. Her emails are littered with spelling and grammatical errors to the point that it’s difficult to understand. My friend received a refund for her trip and a confirmation from Carol after writing an honest review online. However, we have yet to see our refunds. What kind of ethical business returns a refund for one guest and not others? I would give Carol Behne a 0/5 stars if that were possible. DO NOT BOOK HIRE CAROL BEHNE!!!
