Karen LaSala was simply amazing as our travel agent through Destination Weddings. After numerous errors and a lack of communication by the first agent we were assigned, we requested a new representative. Thankfully Karen became our new agent. If we had Karen from the beginning, the company would’ve received five stars. We downgraded to four stars because of the initial agents service. Karen quickly fixed all the mistakes that the previous agent had made and kept us and our guests completely informed throughout the entire process, all the way through the wedding day. Our guests frequently told us how awesome the service was from Karen and how she removed the stress they had been feeling prior to the switch. Karen sent me and my bride several congratulatory messages just prior to and on the day of our wedding. It was a very nice touch. Karen quickly answered all our questions graciously too, even after the day of our wedding. We highly recommend working with Karen if you are booking a Destination Weddings and I hope her company realizes what an asset she is to them! Thank you again Karen!

Destination Weddings created a great experience. They have great communication and kept us informed at every stage form the initial reach out to the day of our travel. We had our flight changed three times on the day of departure and they were quick with updating our arrival for transport pickup each time.

Sue Allen was a great specialist to work with. Easy to communicate with, replies within a day but usually sooner, honest and upfront with pricing and arrangements.

Carrie was great to work with. Handling the large group that we had was no easy task and planning over a year in advance presents it's own challenges, changes in people lives, uncontrollable circumstances, etc. - which are inevitable with a large group. Carrie was very clear going into this journey about restrictions, no guarantees, etc. Carrie coordinates many wedding groups travel, so we were patient as a email response could sometimes take a few days, but in the end we were pleased with the experience and support from DWT and Carrie.

They have a wide variety of places to choose from for a destination wedding! Honestly there were too many because it took so long to choose. Our wedding and travel specialist was very helpful in navigating all the planning with the resort and with the guests. She also helped to give us date outlines and goals to make sure the wedding went smoothly. Our wedding was absolutely amazing and I'm so glad we found this little gem of a resort in Costa Rica.

I loved the ease of the trip. The constant checking made it easier for us to be able to enjoy ourselves once we arrived. My only complaint is the transportation. Discova Travel was very unorganized and did not provide adequate transpiration from the airport. They packed us in a small van and the ride was very uncomfortable. They also dropped us off at the wrong lobby which made it long and difficult to check in. Beside the transportation, everything else was beautiful. The resort was nice and relaxing.

Our experience was amazing. Our daughter was married at the Azul Beach Resort Maya Riviera by Karisma in a beautiful ceremony. The facilities were very nice, immaculately clean, with super nice and professional staff. Sue Allen made everything so easy for us — getting our daughter and guests to the event without complications despite a year delay because of COVID-19. Her professionalism and attention to detail exceeded every expectation — 5star effort for sure. Areas to improve all refer to the resort: 1. The beach front was inundated with hundreds of tons of smelly seaweed that made the ocean inaccessible and the beach unpleasant. 2. The resort recently opened up to greater capacity after a year of restrictions from COVID-19 and was experiencing delays in services, like room service. 3. Bottled water was in short supply. We were originally told we could only get six 500 ml bottles a day for a couple. By my estimate of hydration needs, that’s less than half of what is required. And for guests like us that don’t drink alcohol, it’s insulting to be buying water while other guests drank alcohol for free. With outlays of $10 tips we managed to get water delivered at a cost of about $30 dollars a day for eighteen 500 ml bottles. 4. Experienced travelers to Mexico, and Cancun in particular, know to drink bottled water without ice even if the resort has purified water systems in place. No bottled water is available in any of the restaurants or lounges. We had to carry water from our room to them. 5. I personally know 7 people had terrible diarrhea—and all we’re trying their best to keep it secret, so it’s likely even more in our party of 60 had it. I fully believe all guests should be advised to drink bottled water and no ice. Additionally, as beautiful as the green salads were, guests should be advised to only eat cooked vegetables. I’m a molecular biologists with a strong understanding of medical microbiology. Probably cyclospora in water and/or salads caused diarrhea, cramps, fever, and fatigue. 5. The wedding was simply amazing, but a hands-free microphone for the officiant must be addressed. Three would be better — to mic up others with speaking roles in the ceremony. 6. I can’t comment on excursions because diarrhea limited us to our room.

I worked with Charlene, who was great! She patiently answered all of my questions, and was very knowledgeable about the different resorts. We had to switch gears last minute and basically change our whole pool of potential resorts, and she was very helpful finding a better fit for us. My only complaint is all the different promotions can be very confusing and the website used for guests to book their room is so terrible and confusing. But I would not be able to plan a wedding in Mexico without Destination Weddings!
