Called hotel from airport and was told We would have to take a cab because it was derby week end. Half hour ride and $20.00. Hotel was ok but people were very good. The long walk at the track was bad for us old people. We had the best seats in the Downs but there was a walk way in front of our box and because we were at the finish line there were local people standing in front of us all the time they would not move for us or the usher. The walk in the rain was tough. I think the Downs could solve the problem, I just don't think they care. The vans need to carry a stool, again old people. It was fun but the walk and the rude fans put a damper on it for people in there 80's. Both not your fault.

The overall experience was a good one, but: Very disappointed that both rooms at the Brown had two double beds and we were unable to get kings. I would not have ever reserved rooms with two double beds. Also, the description of the Turf Club was misleading. We could see none of the track.

Overall we had a good experience but there were a couple of problems. First of all, we booked our reservation almost a year in advance and it included a two night stay and a bourbon tour on Friday night. When it got closer to Derby time, the bourbon tour we booked was changed to Thursday night and we were not notified of the change. When we found out, they had automatically changed us to the Thursday timeframe which did not work for us. Then they tried to switch us to an all-day tour on Friday which did not work for us either. We ended up cancelling that part of the reservation and they were very nice about returning our money. Also, the hotel we stayed in was old and needed to be updated. We had specified two queen beds and when we got there we got a room with a king bed and desk. -- ok but not what we asked for. The shuttle bus to the Derby was fine but coming back from the Derby was not. The shuttle bus driver dropping us off that morning told us he would pick us up at the very same place he dropped us off. When the Derby was over, we proceeded to walk back to the place where we were dropped off. When we called the hotel for pickup they told us they were going to pick us up in a completely different location near a church which we had no idea how to get to and also it was a long walk to finally get there since we had already walked to the original location. We were a little disappointed in our Derbybox experience and may choose to make our own reservations in the future. However, the Derby experience was great!
