The stories and puzzles are so much fun. I love the combination of paper and online items to solve. The way they have evolved over the years is refreshing because no matter how many boxes you solve, it's not the same stuff over and over. Beyond the puzzle content, The customer service is unbeatable. I have rarely had to contact them, but when I have, They have addressed my concerns quickly and efficiently.

The stories are fun. It is a good challenge, but if you get stuck you can get clues. It is a fun activity to do together with people.

We love our Deadbolt Mysteries! My only complaint is the price of shipping on top of the already pricey boxes. I know that it’s a necessary evil, but I hate paying shipping on expensive things!
Response from The Deadbolt Mystery SocietyApr 5, 2024
Hey Kris, thanks for your feedback! We are very happy to hear that you love our mysteries! Unfortunately, it costs to ship. We wish it didn't but it does. Our subscription mysteries start at $26.99/month plus shipping and tax. We are always offering promo codes throughout the year where at different times you could get up to 30% off that rate. We also offer multi-month subscription plans that cost less than a monthly rate. Average solve time we have found has been 2-3 hours for a group of 4 people. The average movie ticket price in 2023 was $11.23 for one person. That's $44.92 for 4 people before snacks. The average escape room ticket price for 1 person is $25 for one hour. For a group of 4 that would be $100 plus tax. Also, our games can be solved and passed along to family or friends. Movie theater movies and escape rooms can't do that. We also run sales on our one-time boxes at different points throughout the year, and we have digital versions of some mysteries that are discounted, you can download instantly and pay no shipping. We have run some one-time box mysteries at 70% off resulting in a price of $8.70. That's a full game equal to a cup of coffee these days.

The Deadbolt Mystery Society has become my favorite mystery box subscription! I own every box and every month the boxes keep getting better. The storylines are interesting and the puzzles are amazing!!! DMS has also brought my family more together. Every month, we sit down as a family and solve the boxes together. I recommend them to anyone! You won’t regret trying them!
