Update 6/15/26 - I did get a job in the industry through the program! If you are looking to make a change, it can be worth the investment if you lean into specific gaps you have and really prepare with mock sessions and gap analysis. Prior review ---- The Job apply team & Kajal has been great, and overall very responsive. Mock interview sessions are usually pretty solid. The website and training materials are relatively thorough, but some are a little more polished than others. SQL problems are good for example, some teachers have better projects than others. A lot of it can be researched deeper on YouTube etc. Probably the biggest hurdle and tradeoff here is the cost - ideally they should build some cheaper modular packages as the bulk of the headcount cost is around job phase, mock interviews. Allowing more modularity here would make it more cost effective for people.

After more than two decades in IT, I had a clear sense of the areas where I needed to grow, but finding a focused, role-specific, and well-structured learning path felt overwhelming. I began the upskilling process with DE by acknowledging that ....i needed upskilling in several areas that i never needed in the 18+ years of working on multiple platforms and countless software projects in the Pharma world. Monisha was very helpful in the listening and understanding aspects of my journey. I knew from experience that nothing ever goes according to plan or timelines. DE has timelines for a reason. The mentoring and weekly support meetings by the DE staff i am always attending and asking Q's at are there for a reason. My journey began in Feb 2026 and i have truly made great progress on many fronts . The traits of work ethic and positive attitude and asking Q's from my old life were very helpful in this new life journey that still continues. There is no shortcut. My goal was to get into Data field as a data engineer. Earn at least twice as much as I do currently. Challenges are time commitment, self-doubt and consistency. Also learning new technical skills. The thing I learned from DE Academy is the constant checks by the SME, proper plan with timelines and follow-ups. Online meeting for Q&A’s. As and when I reached the milestone, I was able to feel accomplishment. Small victories gave me confidence that I can do this. I have gained new skills, still in the process of interviewing and finding a new job. The structure of the program. Not just that but also the guidance with job search.

I think it's a really great experience to learn with the Data Engineering Academy because I'm able to learn SQL as part of the curriculum. It's an language that helps to connect various tables (as in from Excel spreadsheets, for example) to each other. As well, I also learn various methods of manipulating data. These days Monisha is the customer success specialist. She does a really fantastic job of helping me towards beginning a new career that involves working with data.

The help I'm getting from my mentor and the pushes to keep going are super useful. I'm about half way through the program and having someone to hold me accountable really helps. The mock interviews are a great way to do quizes and make sure I'm ready for the real thing.
